This place is the definition of "hurry up and buy." It's a depressing little shack with barely any inventory and zero sense of customer service. I walked in and was met with silence, no greeting, no acknowledgment. That alone wouldn't have been a dealbreaker, but it only got worse. While I was browsing the already sparse selection, the droopy faced employee got up to hover uncomfortably close to me the entire time. Literally as I was walking to the checkout so was he. Why aren't you at your post?? At checkout, there was still no communication. No total confirmation, no basic courtesy, nothing. I even had to ask for a bag, and when I did, it was handed over carelessly without a word. No "thank you," no "have a nice day", just complete awkwardness. Do better. read more

The couple who owns this place are so sweet! Im curious if their low ratings reflect their ownership or the prior owners? Doesn't make sense to me that they have a two star rating. I get my wine / white claws here. And my boyfriends ice cream for his sweet tooth! I went in (completely sober and by myself, so not being loud or annoying or talking to anyone except to ask the staff how his day was) and he asked me to leave before I could ask if they carried a certain snack. Do not go here. We moved to this are about a year ago and I'm all about supporting small business owners. My parents were small owners and had grocery stores and I ran their businesses as well so i can understand the challenges of small margins and customer service. The owners are Korean and so are we. My dad met the make owner and mentions he was extremely rude on multiple occasions. I chalked it up to just having bad days and gave him the benefit of the doubt. I did have a few experiences myself... still its important to me support our community so I just ignored it. We even often recommended the market to the new neighbors as they moved into the neighborhood. We stopped by here on walks for snacks and treats. It's very convenient. Sometimes just for lotto tickets. Anyway long story short, the owner is just unbelievably rude. Today for example I went in for lotto and and wanted single tickets. He didn't want to do it because it's inconvenient for him apparently and then he went on a rant about how he doesn't make money off lotto and told me it it's his way or no way. It's not ok to treat people so poorly. What happened to being kind? Maybe rethink lotto if you don't want to sell it. How about that! I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to support this small anymore turning a blind eye to his rude behavior, his wife is nice but she is rarely out front and can't make up for this man's appalling behavior. There is this old man that works in this market (he may be the owner) but on more than one ocassion he has been distespectful to me when I come in to the store which is on a very ocassional basis. Today he started off by greeting me which I acknowledged but when I went to go pay for my items I handed him my money in his hand and the dollar bills he gives me back for my change he literally throws it to me on the counter. So I was like nooooooo you cant be throwing the money down like that its rude and disrespectful. I gave you the money by handing it to you in your hand and you should do the same. So he proceeds to start yelling about he put the money there using some word I couldnt understand and I was like what? He continues yelling and proceeds to take off his glasses like he wanted to jump bad and keeps gesturing aggressively that he was right to give my change back to me the way he did. As I'm walking out I'm like no you will not throw the money at me again or nobody, so He's yelling back at me dont come back into his store and yelling bye as I'm walking out. This man is taking a lot of chances treating people this way unfortunately in these times people are quick to react without thinking and he could be putting his safety and the safety of others at risk when they go in this market with his horrible, ugly attitude. He doesnt ever have to worry about me coming in that store ever again to spend my money when I have so many other choices. I hope other people who frequent this market will take a stand too if they are being mistreated for no reason. People at least need to be able to give common courtesy and respect at the end of the day especially when you are spending your money as they potentially prosper from it . He's lucky he was an older man and I was taught to respect my elders or my words back at him would of been a little more harsh. read more

Worst store I've ever been in. Horrible selection of every item they sold. Even worse costumer service. The guy behind the counter looked at my ID for about two minutes and then asked where my drivers license was from. First off it says Connecticut in big letters on the top. When i said this to him he looked at me with a blank stare so i had to explain where it was. After another 5 minutes of confusion he threw my ID at me and said 4.65. DO NOT GO HERE. I am a nurse by trade, and went into this store almost everyday to get the usual. On the day I went into the store, I had noticed he had some new drinks in the case, so I spent some time looking. Apparently that means youre stealing. When I got to the counter, the owner kept pointing to my scrub shirt. I thought he liked the cartoon on it??? That wasnt it, he was convinced I had put a can of beer into my scrubs!!! So I took my jacket off, took my scrub top off and showed him there was nothing and that IM NOT A THIEF! He proceeded to tell me to "f" off and get out of his store!!!! No problem there, and I will never be back again!!!! He wont be in business long, treating customers like this. I came into here to buy energy drinks for my coworkers. As I was picking out what I wanted the guy working yelled at me for keeping the door open and was so rude I thought he was joking at first. I promptly put the drinks back and said I wasn't buying anything from here because of how rude he was being. He didn't care at all! Apparently this place doesn't want customers or people buying things. Do yourself a favor and go to the nearby chevron, they are super friendly and nice! I'm somewhat of a regular here and there's usually a lady when I stop by but today there is an old man so, I proceed to ask him for matches and he says "10 cents" and I'm like "what?" 'Cause I didn't hear him clearly. He repeats himself but shouts at me this time saying "10 Cents!!" Now, i don't know why he shouted at me but I proceed to tell him "that matches are usually free" he says "not free. 10 cents" so I'm looking through my backpack for 10 cents and I don't end up finding any. So I tell him "I'll be back" I come back with 10 cents and he proceeds to kick me out?! So I'm like "what the f? You just told me you needed 10 cents" he's like "fuck you. Get out!" All I asked was for was matches. I wasn't being rude until he decided to kick me out and cuss at me. But even so, I didn't like how he treated me and I hope New Berry Plaza looks into it. read more

It was rainy and a little chilly and the lady had the nerve to tell my mom that she needed to wait outside. Could I give zero stars? I would! I am at a loss of words for my experience at this store. I walked in to buy a few small items for my lunch and decided to get coffee. As I was filling up my cup I asked if he had milk for the coffee. He (Mr Lee- the owner) adivsed me the creamer was behind me. All I saw were a few small creamer cups, so I asked for actual milk. He stated all he had were the cups, I apologized and declined to purchase the coffee in that case and offered to check out the rest of my purchase. This is where this becomes surreal. Mr. lee (as i was later told by the coffee shop next door) started screaming and cursing at me. I calmly put my items back and began to walk out of the store, when he threw a creamer cup at the back of my head. when I turned around he RAN up to me with his arm back in a position to back hand me. I asked if he was threatening me and was he going to hit me. He took one step closer and cocked back his hand to strike me when I stopped and asked him if I should call the police. He took a step back and continued to scream and curse at me like a crazy. I SHOULD have called the cops. I should have filed a report. I left my phone in my bag, in the car. All I had in my hand was my wallet. I just walked out, got in my car and drove thru the AMAZING coffee shop at the end of the strip mall. I asked the girl the name of the market and she asked if Mr. Lee was giving me a hard time. WHAT?!! I kind of got the impression this was not his first incident. The look on her face was enough to let me know he has quite a reputation. I guess I shouldnt have filled up my coffee cup without first making sure he had actual creamer or milk and not cups of chemicals. To say the least I will never return to this store and I am VERY grateful I dropped my daughter off at school before I walked in this day! How is this place still in business? People, read the reviews! The best thing people can do with a place like this is to NOT support it! Yesterday, I stopped by here to get a Red Bull. I went to the register to pay and the older Asian man who owns the place was at the register like usual. I handed him my Master Card to pay and at which time I heard him say, "50c charge". I said to him in return, "Wait, I will pull out cash from the ATM". No big deal, right? Well, what happened next, was unbelievable! The guy literally throws my card on the counter! Rather than handing it to me, he threw it at me! Can you believe it? I mean, last time I checked the economy is not that great and these people should be thankful for customers, rather than running them off like they are stray dogs! I will absolutely, under no circumstances EVER return to this establishment ever! These people need to be taught a lesson and be put out of business but as long as those of you who live nearby here, as I do continue to support them, well they will continue to do what they do. Rude and poor service. I thought I may have left my umbrella there last night at the counter when making a purchase. It is a clear distinctive bubble umbrella that is at least two feet long. When I called this morning to see if it was there, the man said he didn't know. I said are you open? He said yes. I said it would be leaning up against the counter right in front of him. He said I don't know and hung up on me. I called ten minutes later to ask if he found it. He said I don't know. I said how will I know if and when you find it? And he hung up on me again. I can only think that he stole it or gave it to a family member since they are always in the store. Frustrating and unprofessional. I call on all Tivalli residents to boycott his store. Very Racist Guy who owns the store, been going in there a couple times before because I live down the way from the store, I catch the bus to school so I go in sometimes to buy a water or something, never fails when I go in and the guy is at work he always gives me an attitude like I'm wrong for coming in, so I go in today just to get change to catch the bus ($10.00) in one dollar bills I buy a cookie that was. 99 cents and ask if I can have some dollar bills to catch the bus, he says No!!!! I only give you $5.00 in one's always, so I said please sir I have to get to school $5.00 isn't enough to get to school, can you do this for me this one time, he said no again, now leave, I told this isn't right, he said you, your kind get out, now I'm a 37 year old African American that's just trying to go to school and get a career, I don't have time for ignorance, I wouldn't recommend any African American to spend money in this store, you will get treated like dirt before you give him your money, will never go into that store ever again. read more

I live a block away from here so it is convenient to stop by if i need something quick and don't want to deal with traffic. That being said i have been going here for a year and a half and have had no problems with the ladies that work there but the older gentleman(term used loosely) is a pain every time I go in there. Today i went in to get some beer after getting off work. I seen a sign on my way in that said it would be 6.29, inside of the cooler the sign read the same. I brought it to the counter he spent about 3 minutes reading a book before helping me and when he did ring up the item it came out at 6.79. I know not much of a difference and i usually wouldn't complain about 50 cents but what ensued after i told him was ridiculous. He grabbed the beer off the counter yelling at me telling me I'm wrong, i offered to show him his signs and he started yelling louder. At this point he is now waving his arms, cursing at me in another language(pretty sure by the tone) and threatening to call the cops on me. I pointed at his sign on my way out and according to him i can no longer go back this place just because i tried to point out a discrepancy in a price. read more
