I was in St Louis from out of state and had a few minutes to check out some comic shops. This one had a nice selection, albeit a little hard to find certain ones since is was a little out of order with comics not in the right area or in the process of being added. Regardless a nice place to visit and I found a number of comics I was looking for. A Veteran discount would have been nice as a lot of comic shops I go to have that. read more

I had a few comics to part with ; the manager met me & was very respectful & knowledgeable of the market ~ he showed me prices & reasons for market fluctuations & I sold him maybe 10 decent comics worth 25 to 50$! Plus 40 other commons for $75.00 ~ I could've got maybe $200 on E Bay But his proper manners & integrity swayed me to take the $75 and we both seemed happy I'm guessing he's getting roughly $200 to $250 once he re sells them ~ great place to shop & a fantastic experience for me read more

These guys always are ready to help and have everything from comics to Funko Pops and more. Went in today to find a D&D stater set because my family and I would rather pay a couple of extra bucks to support a local business. They have tables as well to play and sort games. Ample room,snacks and drinks available for purchase. They are kid friendly and even have two spots of kid friendly comics and books! read more

This is the fourth store I've reviewed in my search for a new LCS. I moved to St. Louis recently and I'm trying to find a new store to become a regular and start a subscription. So far, I haven't found anything too impressive and while this store, New Castle Comics, is the best I've been to, it's fairly typical as far as comic shops go, and not especially impressive. Having written that, I do want to say that the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The selection is adequate. The new comics span most of the spectrum (but not all) of the standard 'Big Four' publishers. There is not much in the way of small press or indie comics, but the fact that it seemed like it was possible that they'd have them at all is leaps and bounds above the other comic shops I've visited here. They selection of graphic novels is better than other stores I've been to, but still small and not a particularly good reason to stop by. They selection of back issues is OK. Not a lot of decent Silver Age books, and other stores I've visited have done better. The prices on the back issues are good. They have a lot of videos and games here, representing about half the store, but that's not my thing so I didn't spend too much time in that section. They don't have a lot of toys, but what they did have looked good. The store is clean and polished looking. Overall a decent store that merits an average rating. read more

Love this place. The owner is very friendly and down to earth, the complete opposite of the stereotypical comic book shop owner. They hold game tournaments too, if that's your thing. There's a wide assortment of comics, toys, graphic novels, etc so you're bound to find something you like. It's a little out of the way, but well worth it. read more

I come here every Wednesday to get my books. I tried all the other comic stores when I started collecting again 2 years ago, but this one seems very old school and made me feel very comfortable. I was a bit overwhelmed when I started back up because I didn't know where to begin, but the staff was very helpful with getting me in the direction I wanted to go. Now I buy way too many books each week, but that's s good thing for them ! The new release section is easy to navigate, and their back issue stock is pretty large too. Newcastle is everything a comic/gaming store should be. The owner is really friendly and there's a legit selection of games and trades in one room and another just for single issue new releases and back issues. It's not a huge emporium but it's well stocked and there's plenty I'd keep going back for. Highly recommend! read more

I had a pull-list with Newcastle until due to needing to watch my budget I stopped getting most comics and ended my pull-list. I always am impressed with how friendly all the employees and the owner are--you don't get that 'I'm a mean comic-book-guy" vibe from them at any time. My only complaints would maybe be that the graphic novel selection is a bit smaller than some stores, but they are always happy to order anything you need. Great place, owner was very friendly and helpful. I came in looking for a collection that was hard to find because it went out of print (Venom Devil's Pack, Venom Toxin with a Vengeance and the Land Where Killers Dwell). He was able to find me all the issues in each collection for quite a bit less than what scalpers on Amazon and other sites were charging. He even struck a conversation with me on how Cullen Bunn the writer for the Venom series and other comics is right here in Saint Louis! Plus I was glad to support a local comic book shop. I'm sure I'll be coming back in to start another series soon! read more

These guys are ok. When ordering for pick up at Rasoi and waiting and waiting for food, I meander into this comic book store. Its clean. It has some of the basics but I still found it lacking in other genres. It gets the job done though. They didn't have the comics I wanted in 2009. read more

BEST. COMIC. SHOP. EVER. Shop has a massive stock of back issues to choose from ranging from Silver to Modern with very reasonable prices. You just don't find this anymore. Awesome customer service and they always go above and beyond to find the things I want. Feels like you are home when you walk into the shop. Also has a large stock of card games for those into that stuff. Steve knows comics and you can tell he loves them. He takes the time to know his customers.
