My husband is under hospice care at Bethany Village and I would like to know when or how I need to notify you that we need your services?

I could describe it, but did not realize finding a funeral home knowledgeable of the process would be such a task especially at 2 am. The social worker and I Googled a few places and waited for call backs. One location called back and were very derogatory about the cemetery that my mother had chosen, which quickly left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. However, though they were negative and answered very few of my questions, the funeral director did mention there is a Green Burial Council that certifies funeral homes in green burial and their website has a list of certified funeral homes across the country. As we scrolled, we found Routsong. The social worker called as I being the nerd I am looked for online reviews. They were a funeral home I wasn't familiar with nor had anyone in the family used and at 2am I definitely couldn't make a Facebook post for intel as mom needed a place to go ASAP. From the initial conversation to handling the final payment, Routsong has been a godsend. Through the process of planning my mother's celebration of life, I worked closely with Sam Routsong. I found him to be extremely helpful, personable, and knowledgeable. He also helped with working with the insurance companies and cemetery on my behalf, which took a lot off my plate! Planning a memorial is akin to planning a wedding there are so many minute details that can easily be overlooked, but Sam made sure nothing was overlooked and communication was flowing. This was especially helpful as I can be a little OCD when it comes to planning things. He made sure I was able to visit the florist and gave the final ok on the flowers for the memorial. He "officiated" mom's grave side service and he was tremendously attentive to myself and the guest at mom's actual memorial... even to the point where people were like "do I smell cookies baking?" And they did and were served warm cookies and other refreshments as the visitation progressed. Even everyone who attended the memorial were impressed by the service and venue. I cannot speak highly enough of all that Sam and the Routsong family did for me during this difficult time. And I know you want to know the answer to the million dollar question!!! COST... Though I've never paid for a funeral nor memorial before, I found them to be extremely reasonable and accommodating. Whether you have a set budget or the sky's the limit they want to ensure your "vision" is executed without "burying" you in debt. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Routsong family when it comes time for your loved one to transition!

Susan answered all my questions as late as 9:00 PM ET [we are on Central Time], and really helped keep my family in N. Alabama in synch with the arrangements being handled locally by a family member in Fairborn for my sweet, precious Mom-in-Law's funeral which was held May 11, 2023. Thank you, Susan! She also helped me track down 2 floral arrangements my work [who so generously and kindly] provided for the service. She is poised, polished, helpful and responsive, and has a lovely manicure by the way! She arranged for us to pick up one of the arrangements at the funeral home proper after the graveside service at Dayton National Cemetary and the man who helped me at the funeral home was very kind, friendly, and helpful. Belton-Stroup handled my Father-in-Law's funeral in Feb. 2012 and my sweet Mother-in-Law, who arranged his service, had zero complaints and everything went smoothly [both at the funeral home service and graveside at Dayton National Cemetary. Thank you John and Susan, and Belton-Stroup for your detailed and professional help during a sad and stressful time.

Recently, and unfortunately, my best friend from high school passed away. She was young, the illness was just devastating and she was just...gone. Out of respect for the family, I will leave it there. The staff was very friendly and sincere. They took great care of my dear friend and were very respectful. I can't seem to find the right words without it coming out wrong, but I will just say she looked better and at peace. I thanked them profusely with how wonderful she looked. In addition, they obtained pictures from the family and made an amazing slide show of her life. The way they put it together you'd think they knew her. They were very compassionate all the way around. The visitation was in the evening and they do have a closing time. With the amount of people that showed up, we definitely went past that time and they didn't mind. They just wanted everyone to take their time...and time is exactly what everyone needed. No one can make sense of how fast this all happened and it's so final. I can only speak for myself and what I observed...but a lot of people were grateful for their attention to detail and not being rushed for anything while paying their last respects. On funeral day, they were amazing! It was like a fine choreographed dance from the time you pulled in with your car to the time you left to go to the cemetery in your car. I was so happy my friend had such an amazing final resting ceremony. Once again, this was so unbelievable that we all lingered there too. They didn't mind, after all...this is it. I guess I can wrap it up with saying...they gave her the final platform she deserved with prodigious dignity...and it was appreciated by all. "Thank You" doesn't seem like it's enough, but it's all I got.

Not prepared for the loss, the sadness, or for all the decisions that we needed to make quickly. When we went in for our consultation, everyone at Adkins Funeral Home was very compassionate and helped us through a very difficult experience. Walter, the Funeral Director, guided us through the decision making process, explaining every detail of the options we had for the services. When we needed things explained several times, because it is hard to focus when you are grief stricken, he was always very patient and understanding. Walter was extremely professional. His experience and knowledge of what needed to be done every step of the way was a relief and weight off of our shoulders. Once all the arrangements had been made, we felt at ease in knowing everything would be taken care of. They spent time getting to know us and learning about our Father so they could help us in honoring his life. The Funeral Associate, Sheri, helped us write the Obituary and she took care of getting it published in the paper and on their online Obituaries page. A beautiful Memorial video was made from our pictures of our Dad, it was thoughtfully made and was very touching. They took extra care and consideration to make sure our wishes were met and that everything went smoothly. I highly recommend Adkins Funeral Home because the compassionate care and professional services help the family through an extremely sorrowful process in a way that gives peace and closure.
