Newkirk Fruit is a small produce store right outside the Newkirk Plaza train station that sells fresh fruits and vegetables as well as Asian and American snacks. They have shrimp chips, lychee jelly, Pocky, crackers, Utz potato chips, Oreos, and more. They offer a bunch of flavors for bubble tea as well. I've gotten a black milk tea with tapioca and had no complaints. The texture of the tapioca was nice and chewy. I love that Newkirk Fruit is right by the train station! The fruit selection is excellent today I purchased my Mango yes I am a Mango Fanatic love it. My first review! I found this little spot while taking a walk around the area for the first time. I have longed for bubble tea in walkable distance from my apartment, and it seems my prayers have been answered! The shop specializes in their fresh fruits. There is literally a fruit market on the side (which I honestly felt was a little strange and... different), along with packaged snacks and prepared fruit salads. You can create your own smoothies and juices from their assortment of fresh fruits. I'm afraid I don't know how those taste because I had my eyes set on bubble tea. I definitely had my expectations set low, and to my surprise the black milk tea was delightful in its own way. (BTW, small bubble teas (12 oz.) for $2.50 and large (24 oz.) for $4)) The drink itself was more fruity than I expected. The bubbles had the perfect chew, and had an unexpected, but IMO, pleasantly fruity flavor. The milk tea itself was stronger on the tea side than the milk side. I can't seem to describe it in any other way than as a sweetened herbal tea, perhaps chrysanthemum? While this is my cup of tea, it may not be for others who want a creamier milk tea. The drink was also not overwhelmingly sweet. Yay! Inexpensive and a walk away from my place, I can only be thankful for some decent bubble tea in the Flatbush. read more

I love this place. I could leave the review right there! It is conveniently located in Newkirk plaza, at the entrance of the B/Q train station, making it the ultimate pit stop before work or to pick up groceries on your way home, or really anytime you want a fresh fruit juice. I come here regularly for their bubble teas ($2.50 for small/$4.00 for large), fresh fruit juices ($4.00 for a small/$6.00 for a large and 50 cents for any additional fruit) or a fruit smoothie ($3.50 for small). You can't beat those prices elsewhere in the city! Indeed other hipstery juice bars charge $8 and up for fresh pressed juices. They have a wide variety of fruit that is priced competitively. I've purchased pineapples for as little as $1.50 and half a watermelon for $2.50. They keep very long hours as well - they're open 7 days a week! 8-8 on weekdays, and they close at 7 on Sunday. I can only comment on the produce b/c I'm not a bubble tea or smoothie aficionado. Inspect your produce closely and/or plan to eat it ASAP - I've had mixed luck so far. I bought a mango that I planned to eat right away as it appeared to be ripe. It was half rotten though - I salvaged the other half but it was overripe and bitter. I also got some Granny Smith apples, and when I bit into one, there were patches of brown and it was starting to turn. I got a pineapple that was in decent shape (and cheap) and a couple avocados that passed the test, so it wasn't a total loss. I think if you're vigilant, like you have to be with most of the fruit stands around here, you'll be ok. The location is tops, right outside the Newkirk Plaza B/Q train exit and the price is right. If the line in the shop is out of control, they operate another stand on Foster Av right outside the plaza. read more

Before I never tried bubble tea until last summer with my girlfriend when she came to visit me from Texas I really enjoyed having it but couldn't find any place around my neighborhood that sells bubble tea until they opened up and my favorite is the taro flavor and the best part about this place is that there in the train station so good for people to come and take the train to wherever they have to go only thing is they close at 8pm read more

This is a place that I always go to when I'm in NYC. I love their shaved ice smoothies. The store is always extremely clean is which always a good sign. The employees are very patient (there are a lot of options). They're also extremely kind when you finally do make a decision. I have never had to wait for more than four minutes for my smoothie, even when there are a lot of people who ordered before me. My personal favorite is the Japanese green tea shaved ice with tapioca. This is my favorite place! I go almost every day. The mango banana smoothie is my favorite -very sweet, thick and affordable at just $3.50 for a 12oz. My other favorite is the almond bubble tea. I've gotten bubble tea at other places but theirs is the BEST i swear, the tapioca is always the perfect chewiness. And only $2.50 for a 12oz. I also buy my fruit here, because it's always affordable and in tip-top shape... Mangos, bananas, strawberries, grapes, etc... Depending on the season. I always want to like this place more than I actually do. For fruit, straightforward fruit juices, or packaged snacks, it's great. The bubble teas vary. They really depend on which flavors you get. More of them are powder-based than I see at other places (I understand with something like taro that it's just a lot easier, although real blended taro is awesome), and then if you get the milk tea it's powdered Nescafe, powdered fruit-flavor, syrup and ice.
