The day after we dropped the car off we got a phone call stating that some parts were broken during the removal and our new total would be an additional $800. The person that did the estimate said he would still honor the estimate since these parts were never discussed that they needed to be remove. I called the shop to make sure that we would not be charged the extra amount and spoke with Tracy who told me that we will have to pay for the parts or they will not do the work on our car. So now they are holding our car hostage until we agree to pay for the parts. Take my advise and NEVER use this company they are very unprofessional and do not stand by their estimate!

I left D&J a voicemail at 4:30 on a Friday night to get a second opinion. He called me back within 15 minutes and explained all of my options better than the other shop and the car insurance company combined. Then, on Monday, once I had seen the car and taken pictures, he gave me a $100 solution to what the other company wanted $3300 for (and should have seen in the first estimate) and said another piece they claimed needed to be fixed was structurally sound. He offered to work with me to get secondhand parts to fit within my budget if I chose to salvage the car or drop the insurance claim- and I never paid him a dime for his services! I wish I would have taken our car to D&J instead of going through insurance and the other company. They are honest, communicative and truly have the customer's best interests in mind!

I went the next day to get several belongings out of my vehicle. I spoke with Mike (owner) and asked him if my vehicle was totaled. (It was pretty close to being totaled). He laughed and said it was no where near being totaled, and it was only about 5,000 worth of damage. I used to work at a car dealership, I know how a body shop works. They don't want it to be totaled, no money in their pocket. I immediately called Bill's Auto Body and had my vehicle removed from Mike's and towed to Bill's. They did an estimate for 10,545.43. And it only needs to be 11,500 to be totaled. So YES, it was in fact very close to being totaled. Bill's were absolutely amazing to me!

That's where anything positive ended. First, he was rough with the vehicle, hitting the chains against it and handling it like it was a junker. He worked very quickly but not carefully. The garage was 3.2 miles from where the vehicle was towed from. The driver claimed he made a "wrong turn" and the trip ended up being just over 3.5 miles, which isn't a huge issue except he could charge more for going over the half mile mark. That short of a distance from start to finish should not result in a "wrong turn." The garage we had it towed to requested the vehicle be placed at a certain place. The tow truck driver was uncooperative with this request, and placed it where he felt like placing it. As he was removing our vehicle from the tow bed, he did not fully lower the bed and dropped our vehicle a foot onto the ground, causing the rear wheels to bottom out. Completely unacceptable. While we did file a complaint with AAA and the tow company, the tow company was just a single entity and the driver was the owner, who did not offer any kind of apology. In fact, he hung up mid-discussion. I would never trust my vehicle to this company for anything. The kind of service we received was rude and disrespectful. We've had other tows from AAA which were wonderful and when the time comes to need one again, we will be sure to request that this company NOT be dispatched. Treating someone's personal property so poorly creates a very negative image. I want to share this so that others' don't suffer the same experience.

I specifically told Scott that I only wanted to perform the repairs that were absolutely necessary. When he said the vehicle needed mufflers, I told him I would rather replace them myself because I wanted something nicer than inexpensive aftermarket mufflers.Over the course of several conversations, my wife and I repeatedly asked Scott what type of mufflers would be installed. We didn't ask once--we asked multiple times because this was important to us. My wife even specifically asked if they would be Ford OEM mufflers. Based on those conversations, we came away with the clear understanding that Ford OEM mufflers would be installed. That understanding is the reason I authorized Hanover Lube & Brake to perform the work instead of purchasing and installing the mufflers myself.When I picked up the vehicle on July 21, I had an unpleasant interaction with the new manager, Mike. Because the shop was already closed, I was told I had to sign the invoice before I could receive my keys, so I wasn't able to thoroughly inspect the vehicle until after I left.When I stopped for gas, I immediately noticed that inexpensive aftermarket mufflers had been installed instead. One of the pipes was dented, and the mufflers already had surface rust. That was the exact situation I had tried to avoid from the beginning.I texted the shop that evening to express my concerns. The following morning, Mike told me they had installed "OEM fitment" parts. That was the first time anyone had used the phrase "OEM fitment." It was not the understanding my wife and I believed we had after our conversations with Scott regarding Ford OEM mufflers.After I had time to cool down, I tried to reach a reasonable compromise. I asked if they would provide and install a pair of exhaust tips so the aftermarket mufflers would at least have a more factory appearance. Instead, I was told that if I purchased the tips myself, they would install them. I wasn't looking for an expensive repair or anything extravagant--I was simply hoping they would make some effort to address a situation that I believe resulted from the misrepresentations made during the estimate process.What disappoints me most isn't simply that aftermarket mufflers were installed. It's that I made my decision based on what my wife and I understood after repeatedly asking what parts would be used. Had I known aftermarket mufflers were going to be installed, I would have purchased and installed the mufflers I wanted myself. Between the communication surrounding the repair, the customer service I experienced afterward, and the unwillingness to offer a meaningful resolution, I cannot recommend Hanover Lube & Brake. If you choose to do business here, get every promise about parts in writing, ask for the manufacturer and part numbers on your estimate before authorizing repairs, and inspect the work carefully before leaving the shop. The really funny part is, that after I tried so hard to work with the shop, they said I was just looking for something for free. Go figure. At least they stayed in character. In 40 years of dealing with probably close to 100 repair shops, this is absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had. BEWARE of the new management
