Just off Kingsway, this is Newport's central bus hub. Served by main operator Newport Bus, as well as routes to all around the city and its surrounding suburbs/valleys, there are several services an hour to Cardiff. If you want to escape Newport, then it's also served by various National Express routes, while discount inter-city travel operator Megabus also runs to London and Bristol a couple of times each day. Walking distance from Newport Train Station if you need to transfer to or from rail services, and close to the chief shopping streets, the local service prices are cheaper than standard singles in Cardiff. That's the facts. The reality is Newport Bus Station is a desolate space full of empty stands, sufficient to put a downer on your day. Not quite as unsavoury as its Cardiff counterpart, it's still far from an ideal hangout later at night.
