Dr. Kermani is fantastic!! I was very nervous about having cataract surgery and he immediately made me feel safe, he is kind, gentle and very understanding. I am so impressed with this practice! Had major eye issues and researched reputable local ophthalmologists. Was able to get an appointment the same day I called and was first seen by Dr. Barnett and then by Dr. Kermani. Both were pleasant, efficient and compassionate. I was diagnosed with Meibomitis, which resulted in several chalazions and conjunctivitis. It's the first time I'd ever had these problems so was alarmed by the redness and sores. Dr. Kermani confirmed that my eyes were healthy (beyond the temporary gland issues) and then proceeded to explain my treatment plan. The office visit took less than an hour, yet I never felt rushed. I came in looking to treat a stubborn stye and came out with contacts. Carla was my physician and she is amazing. I previously had a bad experience at another eye glasses chain that I will not be mentioning. We did the eye exam and I was very nervous about contacts. She fitted me for them and she got them in and out of my eyes like it was nothing. She was able to teach and explain to me how to get the contacts in and out. I was on vacation and from nowhere knew I had an eye infection. Not knowing any Ophthalmologist in the area I Googled and many names came up. I looked at physicians in the area and went to Yelp to check them out. I called Newport Eye Physicians and they scheduled me the same day. Dr. Michael Kermani was very professional and a real gentleman. He listened carefully, checked my eyes and explained everything so I understood what I had to do. I will see him again after my eye clears up. I highly recommend him and I am very particular with my doctors and how I am treated. His staff are also wonderful and friendly. Five stars!!! read more

I was in a panic because I had this annoying under eye twitch that came out of nowhere and bothered me all weekend. I needed it resolved ASAP as I had a formal event to attend at the end of the week and it was effecting my ability to sleep. I was convinced I needed Botox to fix it and Dr Kermani's office was so helpful to make me a same day appointment. Dr Kermani was very thorough in running a baseline of tests and spending time with me to explain what my options were. He convinced me to not do the Botox but to try a couple of other options 1) back off the caffeine , 2) use some anti inflammatory eye drops and 3) take potassium supplements. Within 36 hours my twitch was completely gone. He also gave me a prescription of the drops should it return. I especially want to thank his staff as they were very kind and accommodating. I had a severe cornea abrasion from wearing eyelash extensions following cosmetic surgery. Dr Barnett's professional and friendly staff got me right in to see her. I had lost vision and she even said it was one of the worst cases she had seen. Dr Barnett was so unbelievable! She gave me an exam, worked with me to find a better contact to give me better vision. Over the weekend I sent her an email and she got right back to me. I feel great today, the eye is healing. Thanks to Dr Barnett, my vision is really good now, my eyelids are feeling better and I have made a lot of progress due to following her expertise and protocol. Dr Barnett has changed my life. I can see again!!! Since moving, I have had to find a new optometrist. After reading all the YELP reviews, I decided to give Dr. Barnett a try. Dr. Barnett is SO caring, so patient, didn't rush me one bit. She fitted me with the perfect pair of contacts. Prior to her, my previous optometrist prescribed me with contacts that actually impaired my ability to drive at night. He just said that's just the way your eyes are and this is the best he can do. I wanted to comment on my eye surgery that I just completed yesterday. The end of august I had a pterygium removed from my right eye . In January I had a cataract removed from the same eye and February I had a cataract removed from my left eye. My Dr was Dr . Kermani and would highly recommend if you need any surgery on your eyes , you can't find a better Dr. To do it. He has a wonderful presence that assures you as the patient that he knows what he is doing and will set you at ease. He followed up every evening after the surgery to make sure there were no issues. During the surgery ( you are awake) he is very calming and makes you calm . I'm sure that's. Real talent while your working on a persons eye. Though it's an hour drive from our place going to his office we've decided to stay under his supervision because you rarely find such genuine care from professionals nowadays. I am a pilot that has had lasik eye surgery 3 times now and can see far very well still, however, at 52 now, I have a hell of a time reading close up which means I have to wear reading glasses to fly or even see a menu at a restaurant... For so many years I have been told that there is no solution to my problem and it "just comes with age... " Well, thanks to doctor Carla Bartnett, I can see far away, fly my airplane, read menus, see my phone withoit gigantic fonts, and more! Dr. Karmani and Dr. Barnett are both such wonderful doctors who truly care about their patients. I had an absolute scare with my retina possibly detaching a couple days ago and both doctors answered right away and were so on top of it. Highly highly recommend Dr. Kermani. My mom has been having dry eyes for some time, and we went to 3 different eye physicians with no relief. Every other place we went to just basically told us to try some eye drops and that they will see us back in a few weeks.... and if it doesn't work that we have to do surgery to get eye plugs. Then we found Dr. Kermani at Newport eye physicians. What a difference!! The receptionist is so sweet and personable and they have water/coffee and candy in the waiting area! Dr. Kermani is like the sweetest doctor ever. He is so patient and caring. He was able to give us some good eye drop recommendations with samples. He also gave her good information about how to keep her eyes from drying out in the future. Not only that, he also explained what was causing it. he recommended different vitamins she could take and other preventative measures. it has been about 2 weeks now since we saw him last and we can finally say that my mom is doing a whole lot better! no more eye tearing!! She is super knowledge about all the options and products to meet patients needs. I use to go to lense crafters and never did they get my perceptions Right. Finally i can see clearly and i love the stuff I'm using. She also give eye heath tips. And she does except some insurance. The product was also fairly priced. 5 stars all Around!!! read more

I can't say enough about this wonderful doctor and his team! Our dad can see again thanks to this wonderful man. Dr Kermani spends time to explain things very clearly and has the best bedside manner. We took our parents to Dr. Kermani's office and we were promptly greeted and checked right in after the standard new patient paperwork. The office staff was highly professional, efficient and kind. The staff calls you back when they promise and goes out of their way to help make things easy. Dr Kermani took his time with our parents and made sure to really ensure he gave a thorough eye exam. It turned out that our father indeed had cataracts. There was no question in our minds who we should have do his surgery. Dr Kermani again made our Dad feel at ease about something that could be very scary. Two successful surgeries later and our Dad can see! The surgery center was also excellent. The follow up visits and even personal phone calls from the doctor show he REALLY cares about his patients. Everyone, and I do mean everyone in the office made something scary and stressful into something that was a great experience. Dr. Barnett is nothing short of spectacular. I have never waited longer than 5 minutes for an appointment. Yet somehow, she really takes her time with her patients! I never feel rushed and I always leave feeling like I learned something new about eyes, and that I got the absolute best treatment from an experienced professional. She is very loyal to her patients, and will work with you to get the best price for your lenses. She never up-sells products, and only recommends ones that are the best for your individual medical needs. She is available by email and always promptly returns phone calls. I had waited for quite some time to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kermani and if only I had known this experience would become a nightmare. Dr. Kermani is a very nice person, made me feel completely comfortable and assured me that medically, my eyes were fine. He did mention that I had cataracts, which I've known for several years, but didn't say surgery was warranted at this time. My prescription definitely had changed and his exact words were: "I will make sure you have the perfect prescription ". I also decided to purchase a new pair of glasses for my new prescription. After waiting two weeks, I picked up the glasses and everything was blurry. The front desk person, Gloria, told me to give it some time, perhaps two weeks to adjust to the new prescription. After being completely miserable and unable to see properly, I called the office and Dr. Barnett, the optometrist, offered to recheck the prescription. She informed me the prescription given by Dr. Kermani was too strong and she gave me a new prescription. As an apology, they offered to redo the lenses and upgrade to the best Varilux progressive lens, which I appreciated. Waited another two weeks, picked up the new glasses, and still could not see properly, blurry vision, halos, and my right eye is tearing and bloodshot. In addition, I have terrible headaches. After a week wearing them, I put on my old glasses for just a few minutes. I know that prescription was not good but didn't know what else to do at this point. I asked Dr. Barnett for her suggestion and she said to give it another ten days and try not to think about it too much. If that didn't work, she offered to put my old lenses in the new frame since I was able to see a little better within them, even though it was obviously not the correct prescription!! The next day, I decided to finally get a second opinion and went back to the optometrist's office I had been seeing for years. They are all superb and the only reason I switched was because the doctor retired and the practice was sold. I had the most comprehensive exam and was told the cause of my vision problems were cataracts; the right eye definitely needed surgery. The changes in the prescription was totally unnecessary, and would not have made my vision better, and finally after much suffering, numerous trips back and forth to Dr. Kermani's office, I finally have an explanation. In addition to this horrible experience, I spent $820.00; $200 for new glasses and $440 for lenses. This was most of my stimulus check! If I had been diagnosed properly, I would have that money in my checking account. I called Dr. Kermani's office in tears on Friday to inform Dr. Barnett of the diagnosis but apparently, was told she had left for the day. So don't just rely on Yelp reviews when choosing a new dr. Do additional research, check which hospital the dr. has staff privileges, compare other drs., CV, years in practice, and ask for recommendations from other physicians that treat you! Also, get recommendations from your church or synagogue; another great resource. I will do just that and now will find the best surgeon to take care of my cataract; and a Hoag Hospital ophthalmologist! read more

Awesome office. They have coffee and other drinks, tons of magazines, and a flat screen TV in the waiting room to keep you occupied if you arrive early. The woman at the front desk is sweet as can be, and Dr. Kermani makes you feel right at home. He's very personable, and the way he constantly affirms you after each test he runs on your eyes makes you feel like being able to sit still for thirty seconds makes you some sort of rockstar.
