I am so glad I did a ton of research on surgeons and procedures before deciding on Dr Liu for my upper and lower bleph. While a lot of plastic surgeons can do these, it was suggested to me to see an ocular specialist. I don't expect surgeons to be perfect but Dr Liu is about as close to that as you'll find. From the initial visit, you can tell how meticulous and knowledgeable she is. What I also appreciated and respected was her honesty, transparency and tastefulness. I had wanted an outcome that couldn't be achieved solely from addressing the eyelid tissue but because of my Asian heritage, I learned it was an eyebrow tissue issue that could only be addressed by also going into the eyebrow area. I am guessing there are surgeons who would have reassured me and told me what I wanted to hear that the scarring on the eyebrow area would be minimal and almost non visible. Dr Liu was upfront about the range of scarring possibilities and while optimistic, she gave a genuine and realistic response so that I could make the right decision for me. I wasn't looking for a transformational outcome but rather a return to a more naturally rejuvenated look. The 3 hr surgery went smoothly and Dr Liu came by afterwards to reassure me of that and that I am a bruiser and sweller which would have been very concerning ( because I looked like I got into a car accident) had Dr Liu not stated that my recovery should not be impacted by that. She couldn't have been more right. It was amazing how quickly I healed and how painless it was ( I never had to take a single pain med while doing EVERY post op care by the book). And I appreciated the Dr and the office staff so much for always responding to my nervous Nelly questions along the way. My husband is happy because I still look exactly like how he has always seen me and, I am grateful for being able to go makeupless without feeling as self conscious about the big bags underneath my eyes anymore. One last but not least comment is for the office staff. Jennifer in particular is very type A - just like I want her to be because 1) she was smart enough to schedule me at a top notch surgery center that was less expensive than the others 2) she walked through step by step my pre and post op prep and care instructions rather than just provide the "sheet" for me to interpret myself 3) she sent numerous well received reminders for all my appts so that I wouldn't forget 4) she responded to all my many texts quickly so i wouldn't worry. I paid for a consultation with Wenijing Liu. I found her demeanor to be standoffish and unhelpful. I asked how if the fat would be reduced in the upper eyelids, and she replied no fat reduction - It felt like I had to ask her about every little angle of the procedure instead of her describing the process to me. In Dec, I had an upper Blepharoplasty (upper eye lid lift) by Dr. Liu and the outcome has far exceeded every expectation. Five weeks post-surgery and my eyes look incredible! After an extensive online search, I consulted in person a couple of highly regarded oculoplastic surgeons regarding a ptosis surgery for my mom, who is in her late 70's and whose field of vision was obstructed due to sagging eyelids. The procedure she needed consisted of removal of some brow skin and stitching on the underside of the eyelids. Based on the consultation and the office visit, we decided to go with Dr. Wenjing Liu and are happy to say that we remain very satisfied with our decision, for the following reasons. We found Dr. Liu to be very personable, open, articulate, and above all, very competent. She explained the procedural details and anticipated results clearly and in realistic terms. She also suggested an optional procedure (for aesthetic reasons) but made it clear that it wasn't medically necessary and left it completely up to my mom, which we appreciated. She was very candid and willing to discuss how many ptosis surgeries she's completed (thousands) and how many revisions were required (very few); apparently she regularly performs revisions for patients referred to her, to fix the results of the ptosis surgeries done by other surgeons. Dr. Liu's experience and her attitude put both my mom and me at ease.  My mom's surgery (9/8/21) went smoothly, and Dr. Liu personally called at the end of the day to check up on her and to offer post-op advice and asked to call anytime for pressing concerns. That was a very nice touch and much appreciated. Two weeks later, she examined my mom to ensure that her wounds were healing nicely and that her field of vision was restored. My mom has another post-op appointment with Dr. Liu tomorrow. The other factor in our selection of Dr. Liu was her office staff. Elizabeth, who answers the phones and also did the vision field test, is very friendly and respectful, overall very pleasant. Jennifer, the office manager, who followed up with written procedural details and consent forms, etc, was very responsive to emails and thorough in guiding us through the pre-op and post-op process. When I pointed out to her a potential discrepancy in the "medications to avoid" list, she responded professionally and in a timely manner.  Just a heads up, if you plan to visit their office, sometimes the front office is empty for a while because both Elizabeth and Jennifer are performing tasks elsewhere and so you may have to wait a bit to be checked in.  Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Liu and her staff. Dr. Liu's front staff is very personable and really kind! They answer all your questions nicely, and also offer a lot of programs and deals to make you feel comfortable about your choice, but also try to get you the best deal possible! Dr. Liu is really sweet. She's really gorgeous in person, and very charming! She does not push anyone into anything that they don't want to do. She will be honest, and give you her opinion based on what you want, but does not try to upsell you. She also is very accommodating and will give you her full attention, even though she's busy. I also love that she continues to practice both cosmetic surgery, and medical. For example, after my appointment, she was headed to another hospital and was building a tear trough for another patient who had issues due to a car accident. So you know she's dexterous and continuing to expand her incredible skill set. The work I got done was some botox (for masseters/TMJ), and some fillers for my nasolabial folds. I really loved where she put the fillers because it solved the issues I asked her to, PLUS the positioning she put it in, pushed my nose a little bit inward (I have a slightly wide nose for my face) but the filler placement made my nose look much more suited for my face, and wasn't noticeable at all. Dr. Wenjing and her office staff are so amazing they changed my life! In fact, my visit to Dr. Wenjing was for a second opinion on eyelid surgery. My eyelids have been swollen for a long time and had started to droop, so I wanted to have surgery. The first doctor's opinion was that the swelling in my eyes could be due to some sort of autoimmune disease, but there was no treatment, that I could do my own research and do a blood test and claim on my insurance if I wanted to. However, in most cases, there is nothing to do with my eyes besides surgery. Dr. Wenjing found some hidden health problems. However, what made her different from the first doctor was that she did not ignore it. Jeniffer, one of the office staff, checked to see if my insurance would cover and arranged for blood tests. She also arranged for an MRI because Dr. Wenjing needed to know what was going on before she could decide whether surgery was necessary. The results showed that I had an autoimmune disease called Sjogren's Syndrome. Dr. Wenjing recommended another doctor to take care of the autoimmune disease first and prescribed me some eye drops. She said that by taking care of the disease, your eye problems could disappear and would not need surgery. I was very impressed. She and her staff genuinely cared about my health and were honest about what was best for me. I came to her for eyelid surgery and she helped me to find a hidden disease and to become healthy and beautiful at the same time. I am very grateful to meet this wonderful doctor and staff. I had a growth coming out of my tear duct area and after seeing my optometrist, I was sent to Dr. Lui. My eye doctor told me that anything to do with the eyelid or tear duct area, she sends to Dr. Lui because that's her specialty and she's the expert. That says it all right there! It's very reassuring when you know you are with the best. She takes her time explaining what is happening before and during every step of the procedure. This was not an easy area to work in but she made me feel so relaxed, and she is so precise in every movement that she had my complete trust. Dr. Lui has also created a very warm and inviting atmosphere. The office is bright and clean along with the soothing sound of a bubbling water fountain.You feel like you are in a spa! Jennifer is her assistant and is the icing on the cake. She is very kind and pleasant, and they make a great team together. You even get a call later that day to see how you're doing. Weijing Liu's office management is hellish. They would tell you you had an appointment, but when you called later to verify your insurance had been checked, they would say you did not have an appointment, because "you didn't verify you wanted an appointment" (What in the world does that even mean?). And then when you told them you had ptosis that affected your vision and you had to tilt your head backward to get a better shot of what you're seeing, they would say you'd have to pay a $250 plastic surgery consultation fee because that had nothing to do with your vision (Do they think people normally tilt their head backward to see? Please, have some common sense.). Unless you want to practice communicating with someone on the phone who has zero medical knowledge about your eyes, you'd better move your business to another provider. Can you imagine talking to someone like that AFTER YOUR EYE SURGERY if, God forbid, you need CRITICAL ATTENTION? That's just looking for a disaster for yourself. During my consultation she went over the procedure (ptosis repair using the posterior approach) in detail and answered questions that I didn't even think of asking.
