I have been here a few times and I always enjoy it! I went a few days ago when the weather was perfect. The parking garage is super easy to figure out and paying for parking is even easier. Thank god for the under hour no parking fee, it was great for my quick 45 minute stop. I sat along the riverwalk by the aquarium and it was beautiful. The views are amazing of the city. Newport was very lively with people and families walking all around, enjoying the weather. If I had more time I would have stopped by the food trucks/stations but that'll be for next time! read more

We go to the levee about 3 times a year and every time we go, there is something new or different. So I cannot say it's a boring place but a few things keep me wanting to return more often. The festivals are always a hit. A couple summers ago the Louis Prima band was there, which was excellent! Very entertaining. The levee mall area lacks foot traffic fluidity. The feng shui is so off, even outside of it. We haven't gone to bowl (can you access it from inside the mall?) and it's been forever that we've gone to the theater to catch a movie. The aquarium is for families, which you see a lot of in this area. There are a couple restaurants around the area that we like but AT the levee we can pass pretty much all them. Checked out the new galley food hall at the levee this weekend! Great spot to watch football as there is a full bar and 4 food options. We enjoyed Italian bites from Zaria. The pasta was flavorful, fries nice and crispy with a garlicky pesto sauce and refreshing Caprese salad. Food & Drink all came with a 2.99% surcharge which was a little annoying. read more

Newport on the Levee is a downtown boardwalk shop type setup in Newport Kentucky just off the Ohio river. Built as a way to accentuate the Newport aquarium just across the Cincinnati bridge into Kentucky. This levee has really updated and grown over the years and has some cool and fun options to shop and dine at. The exterior area of it is really nice and a gray place to hang out and enjoy a Nice day before or after an aquarium visit. They actually have some unique and cool Restaurants that make visiting the levee without an aquarium visit worth it. Overall very nice and lively area. Props to the folks I. Newport on the Levee has changed so much over the past 5 years. Indoor and outdoor I think it is has become a fun place to visit! It's clean and well kept and the seasonal decor is cute. There are a variety of shops inside, from local artists to plants to spices! There are neat businesses that provide something fun to do too - bowling, arcade, Lego cafe, movies! Restaurant variety has expanded like 5x what it used to be which is great. The lounge seating and big sports screen outside are great for a sunny warm day. The Levee puts on a lot of events now too- yoga, trivia, Labor Day events, derby events, etc. it's become a place we enjoy bringing our friends and somewhere nice to walk around. read more

The mall area had multiple empty stores, multiple stores under construction, and multiple really niche stores which aren't going to have broad appeal for a weekend trip with kiddos. This place is very clean, hip and trendy. They have valet parking and self park garages available. I like this place. You can sit long the river and look over the Cincinnati. You can also take a a bridge and walk over to Cincinnati. This place is home to the Newport Aquarium, which is very nice and an AMC theater. You will also find some trendy stores here such as Velocity Esports, Sunnies, Trade, Sweet Dreams Candy Co., Native, and Sage Yoga Hot + Pilates. They have some nice eateries too. Five Guys is always a favorite of mine. You will also find Kon Tiki, The Little Spoon Bakery & Café, Wooden Cask Brewing, Brio, Crepe Guys, and Cold Stone Creamery. They have an area called Bridgeview Box Park which opened in 2020 and consist of stores in shipping containers. It features eight dining and retail spaces. But what I like the most is the neat collection of communal seating options and outdoor games. You will find a spot that is lined with artificial grass and has little adirondack chairs to sit. It is really a nice, chill spot to hang out on a nice spring day. They hosts events such as Game Day on the Levee, Ladies Night, Live on the Levee, Yoga on the Levee, and Trivia Night on the Levee, Movie Night on the Levee. Fun times. Checking their website for times and dates. The place is very clean and they had people working to keep it that way. I highly recommend checking this place out, even if you are not doing any shopping. It is a cool place to just hang out. It makes a wonderful date night or family outing. Dying slowly is what I would call this center as it seems like it's days of multiple businesses is long gone! From what I gathered here there are only a few things keeping this center alive one is the aquarium which I didn't get a chance to visit and the movie theater which also looked kinda empty too there were also a few restaurants but nothing really that special just a few in between here and there. The whole complex is actually quite nice super pretty right on the river and just a nice place overall I'm sure that it could have a comeback but I'm not really all that familiar with the area so who knows! If you do plan on visiting here make sure you pay before you get back to your car as there is payed parking here throughout the parking structure. Overall not much here but we basically only came here so that we could go to the Purple Bridge :) read more

This location has some serious potential based on spectacular river views and proximity to the metropolitan Cincinnati city core. They've cleaned up the space with a fresh coat of paint - some of the new retail stores seem promising too. Most of the action is outside of the indoor Mall. If they can secure an attraction for the old Barnes&Noble site (it's currently vacant), I could see the area becoming a destination again. read more

Grand reopening this weekend! I am so excited to see this place come back to life. I was there several weeks ago and didn't see how they would make their Memorial Weekend target, but walked down last night for ice cream and I was amazed at the transformation. There was a festival with live music, which I guess will happend all weekend. Along with surprises and fireworks on Saturday. The entire inside was filled with new stores/brewery/bakery/eateries. They were still setting up and not open, but it looks like the focus is on buying local. How cool is that. There's still AMC, Brio, outdoor bars, etc. I hope this prospers and continues to grow. This was my first time going to Newport on the Levee. I was instantly impressed by how clean and well-kept it all was. There was no trash, was smoke-free, and the crowd was very safe and pleasant. There are abundant little shops, restaurants, and activites (e.g. Newport Aquarium, AMC movie theater, bowling). One could easily spend a whole day here doing all sorts of activities with any age group. The sights along the waterfront of the Cincinnati skyline can't be beat either. There's a gorgeous view of the river for miles, and there's a great walking/biking path along it that seemed to be used by plenty. Overall a great area! read more

This is a cool aquatic check out solo, with a friend or with the fam. There's interactive areas where you can up close and personal with some of the aquatic residents (supervised + educational) and there's a lot of interesting facts posted with each exhibit. The sharks were the big draw for me and they didn't disappoint. It wasn't a JAWS moment, but they were neat to see all the same. There's a large seating area with an enormous viewing glass where you can watch the sharks and a large grouper float around. I would definitely go again and stay for lunch (they also have a cafe halfway through). read more

Newport is for sure one of the cutest towns in the Northern Kentucky Area. Ever since the Levee was built and all of its counterparts, this town has gained all kinds of tourists. While I spent a few years at NKU, The Levee was my place. There are all kinds of things to do, restaurants to eat at, and places to explore. Some things you can do: - Newport Aquarium (A little expensive but worth it!!) - Movie Theater - tiny mall inside - Gameworks (Think smaller Dave and Buster's) - bowling Some restaurants: - Mitchell's Fish Market - Bar Louie - Brothers - Greek Burrito Sometimes there are also street performances, which are pretty cool. Parking can get expensive at times, so be careful. But, you will get the most beautiful view of downtown Cincy!! read more

Tried to go to a movie as a 19 year old and got lead upstairs by security to get a refund. So embarrassing. All the employees even the manager of the movie theater was annoyed by the situation. As other recent reviewers here have noted, I got the vague impression that "better days" had passed here at N.O.T.L. No, it's not in bad shape, beautiful holiday decorations and no signs of wear and tear, but quite a few empty stores/restaurants here, compared to our last visit just a few years ago. Truthfully, we don't head down this way very often, and maybe it's more of a warm weather "destination," but I think it's also possibly suffering from a combination of outdoor "destination mall" oversaturation (there are three or more within 50+ miles of each other, each in varying stages of "hot" or "not") and more going on in the "real" cities that these artificial "Towne Centres" might have originally been built to help suburbanites bypass the big, scary nearby metro areas.... Anyway, we headed down this way not for shopping (so many closed stores!!) and only ate here because our first choice in Newport had a ridiculous wait for a Wednesday night, but for the AWESOME views... You can't get a bad view of the Cincy skyline from here!! I'm hoping things perk up here once the warmer weather returns. While it might not be an "authentic" shopping and dining "scene," (whatever THAT is) it's a great central location, has a WONDERFUL aquarium, AMAZING views, and if you're in the area, not to be missed... read more

Trying to waste time in Downtown Cincinnati before the Cards/Reds game. Could not find anything to do and saw this place across the river. Looked like a big shopping/restaurant area. Well, there's not much here except for a movie theater, Book store, and some food places. Oh and a Claire's. Haha. Anyways, more of a waste of time. The levee has always teetered decent and bad. More often than not, it leans towards bad for me. I'm just not finding anything here that really draws me in. Bar Louie, Dewey's, Mitchell's, Tom and Chee, Brothers, Brio and a Greek stand all have their place here and each one offers a different type of grub but nothing that screams out "Come to Newport and have me!" You have to try a Tom and Cheese donut grilled cheese atleast once or stop by Brothers for some cheese curds. They also have and of very few Cold Stone Creameries left. As for the shopping, or lack there of, you can swing by Claire's for a teenage girl's dream or maybe get one of those foot cleanings from live fish. Neither of these are our style so hubs and I paid $1 to have an electronic chair massage and left disappointed after the Goetta Fest. Yes, the movie theater is still here and you can play arcade games upstairs but mall type establishments are not the hype right now and you can tell based on the lack of options. Newport used to be a cool place to add to the rotation but anymore it's super boring. I hope to see a change! *We have aquarium passes and barely ever use them because there's not much "attractiveness" to the levee anymore :( read more

Great place to spend the day. Movie theater, shops, aquarium, restaurants and a river front view. You can't go wrong here at all. I was staying at a hotel nearby so it was s short walk and I wasn't concerned walking back to the hotel. The area is safe, well lit and patrolled by security and local police. I saw a lot of great backdrops for pictures throughout the property. I sat in the massage chair and enjoyed a massage while charging my phone. The property is clean, had a lot of various types of restaurants and stores. Valet parking is available and the view of the Ohio River is breathtaking. It's truly a place you can go to any time of day and have a good time. I would come back and check out the aquarium when I have more time to spare this is a short ride from Cincinnati so it will be on my list of things to do. read more

So much to do here! Restaurants are fantastic with great views of the river. Plenty of places to shop and things to do with the movie theater and the aquarium. On the weekends in the summer there are often roving musicians and entertainers and one time we even saw a fun human hamster ball arena set up for the kids. read more

Over the river and through the woods, to Newport on the Levee we go~~~ While in Cincinnati, you can make a quick skip, hop and a jump across the border to Newport, Kentucky. Take in another state while you're nearby...be a little cultured people! Just kidding. I'm pretty sure Newport on the Levee is the least Kentucky part of Kentucky. It's full of [mostly] box stores, chain restaurants and some fun things to do like comedy clubs, an aqaurium & bowling. While at the Levee you can get some great views of Cincinnati across the river. You can have some fun and get a bit of shopping done if that's your thing. The Levee should have something to suit everyone's fancy. Let's be real about Newport on the Levee. It is basically a place for out of towners. I'm not saying people who live here don't go to the Levee but...I'm saying that the majority don't. At least not a lot. It's where middle-aged people from the suburbs come into the city and go to Newport to get wasted on the weekend. At horrible places like "Brothers" and "Dick's Last Resort." You can go to an overpriced bowling alley, a horrible Barns and Noble that will have nothing you're looking for or even an overpriced candy store. It doesn't even really have any places to shop inside of it. Claires and Journeys for the teenagers of Newport. A rundown Gameworks which is awful. The "A-OK" part of the Levee is The Aquarium, which is amazing, The movie theater which is alright and Five Guys Burgers & Fries. These are the best things there. Tom + Chee is good too, but there is two downtown you could go to instead. Parking in the parking garage at the Levee on the weekend, I would just avoid it and park on the streets around the Levee. It will be cheaper and extremely easier to get out of. Any festival that's ever going on at the Levee by the flood walls I would also just avoid except for Goetta Fest. We went to the "Italian" festival one year and there was nothing Italian about it. They had Papa Johns as the main food. It was pathetic. So. Going to the aquarium, a movie or need a badass burger from Five Guys? Go for it. Everything else, just avoid the Levee. read more

I consider Newport on the Levee more of an entertainment destination than a mall. No major department stores here; but there are galleries, a great bookstore, plenty of eateries, a theater, the aquarium and more. My personal favorites are Mitchell's Fish Market, Cafe Istanbul and Tala's Distant Treasures. With the beautiful view of the river and Cincinnati from the north side of the complex, it's a very popular place to bring visitors or to just wander around. One great thing about the Levee is the free concert series in the summer. Each Thursdays evening brings live music outside the aquarium. Nice fun, family friendly event! read more

"So what do you do for fun in Kentucky?" This sums it up, most bored Kentuckians go here... especially if we want to meet up with our Cincinnatian friends. This also saves us from having to go across the river... sometimes it a scary feat. Filled with plenty of bars for old and young... a movie theater... a comedy club... book store... aquarium... bowling alley... and complete with a mechanical bull. Everyone can find something to do. Parking is easy and is garage or lot. I also like to park here for Reds games.... easy walk and cheap parking (plus you can walk off a beer or so in the summer heat on your way back to the car). read more

Ten years ago, Newport on the Levee was the place to be. Cincinnati was still attempting to become a destination in the actual downtown area and Newport reaped the benefits of being the best spot to hang out near downtown. Now the actual business district and OTR area are nearly fully developed. Covington has also been on the upswing and there are many options in Mainstrasse. Newport has not kept up with the times and is now sorely lacking compared to the other neighborhoods that connect downtown. There are a few family friendly options during the day: Gameworks, the aquarium, a dart arena, and a movie theater. The Levee has a strictly enforced age restriction policy that allows the degenerates that frequent the few bars surrounding the area the freedom to roam in their drunken leisure. In my opinion, that's a huge mistake. The majority of the area is geared toward families, yet you impose a strict curfew (6pm!) so the three bars that are housed inside the complex are catered to? What a waste. Everything at Newport is overpriced and touristy. The only reason I come over is to watch a movie because they have comfy seats and movies are outrageously expensive nearly everywhere. If you're trying to go here for any other reason I would recommend trying to a comparable attraction elsewhere. It's just not what it used to be. read more

Welcome to Newport! The levee is certainly a go to spot to enjoy many things at once in Northern KY. There are a few free or low cost things you can enjoy there; walking across the Purple People Bridge, cold stone icecream, browsing through Barnes and Noble, hitching a $1 trolley that goes through Cincinnati's fountain square and back to the Levee, and of course enjoying the beautiful city scape of Cincinnati. However, if you are looking to not do those kind of things be prepared to spend! Much of the activities to do at the Levee are pricey! Unless you look for free street parking a few blocks away you're left with the parking garage under the levee, which will charge you event parking even if you're not there for an event. The aquarium, bowling, movie theatre, game works, shops are typically more than what I would like to pay. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of the Aquarium but will look for discounts before I pay full price. I've noticed a trend over the years that restaurants don't always stay for very long on the levee and was bummed when my favorite Irish fish and Chips place went under. The levee is certainly a beautiful spot in Newport to check out and I would also keep an eye out for the festivals that take place by the river in front of the Levee. I was there for the Bourbon, Bacon and Brew fest. This was expensive too in trying to sample different foods and drinks. Other popular festivals that hit this area are Italian Fest.
