We were looking for a adventure and my grandson wanted to go see some sea monsters. So we set out a two hour drive that I thought would have been quite as he is three and I would have bet that he would fall asleep on the drive but no he was talking the whole way. When we finally arrived he was so excited before we got in they had a ball python that they were showing and he got to touch it. Going through the aquarium was easy to navigate and they had so much to see as we ran from one exhibit to the next he was so excited. There were also many place to take a break and relax but that was not on our agenda. We explored and saw all of the sea monsters that we could. It was a wonderful time and we will be back. read more

I look my nephew and he had a great time looking at the fish. Both of our favorite parts was being able to touch the star fish and other items in the open area of the aquarium. He really wanted to see sharks but when we went there wasn't a lot of sharks out for us to see which was kind of disappointing but everything else made up for it in the end. Purchased tickets during a half off promotion and made the drive from Louisville. We arrived at 9:30 (Sunday), it wasn't very busy which made our visit even more enjoyable. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable, we asked questions about the sea creatures at the touch tanks. I loved the Jelly Fish exhibit, it showed the stages from birth to adult which I thought was really neat. With a career in occupational therapy, I squealed when we found a sensory room around the half way point. The paid experiences/things for sale throughout were a bit overwhelming (face painting, VR pods, character drawings). Penguins at the end always make me smile! Parking is easy and affordable. Somehow even more fun than I remember as a kid! Extremely clean and organized aquarium with great tanks and healthy animals. The staff were all knowledgeable and seemed like they all loved being there too. Great variety of animals, more than just your typical fish with penguins, frogs, a crocodile and alligator, and more. My favorite was seeing the sea pickles and puffer fish! Only thing that could be improved is more facts about the fish - the "did you know" facts were somewhat random or basic for a lot. We had such a great time at this aquarium. We were hesitant because the price of admission is a bit steep, and I must say, misleading. When you go to their Goohle Maps listing, it says tickets are one price...but then when you go to the website to buy, it's several dollars different than what was being advertised on the landing page. We went ahead and bought them anyway, but utilized our AAA discount. So worth it! We enjoyed every exhibit, especially the shark tank and the touch tanks! We had a fun visit to the Newport Aquarium. I visited with a 4, 2, and 1 year old and all of them enjoyed it. Our favorite parts were the tunnel, all of the touch pools, especially the stingray touch pool, the crawl through tunnel, and the shark bridge. All of the interactive features kept the kids engaged and excited to see what was next. This will be a destination that we will keep coming back to for years to come. What a fun aquarium. We had the best day here. Parking is underneath the building and reasonable $6. Holiday music was playing throughout the exhibits. It was definitely worth the drive. We saw sharks, penguins, sea turtles a white alligator and an entire stingray exhibit. They have a touch tank too, they teach you about animals which was interactive and cool. We went on Black Friday and they had a discount on line for tickets. It may be worth researching before you go if there is any discounts. This aquarium is in an amazing location for starters. I love the idea of a timed entry if necessary, too, but we arrived about an hour early, and they went ahead and let us in. Definitely has a lot tailored more to the kids, but still has plenty for adults to see as well. There are loads of exhibits, and the shark bridge was interesting and sort of scary at the same time! They are literally below you, and while you are in a netted bridge, seeing sharks swimming in open water below is an experience! Took my daughter here and we had an absolute blast. Ended up getting annual passes since she loved it so much and I knew we'd have to be back. I've been to the Sydney aquarium in Australia and many other huge aquariums to compare to, and yet I still loved our experience here. This was super fun and great to take your littles to. If you can go when the mermaids are there, I 10/10 recommend going to that. My daughter loved the pretty sparkles and decorations on the mermaid tails and just how elegant they looked in the water. Newport Aquarium was a great way to spend a few hours. We had our 7 month old baby with us who enjoyed the different aquatic animals. They had multiple displays for older kids/adults to touch some of the wildlife. It seemed to just keep going and going which was nice. Think it was $86 for my wife and I and the baby was free which seemed a little steep sounds like if you get tickets in advance it's cheaper which I would suggest. They also have a mother's room to feed and change babies which was nice. But all in all I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the place and diversity of exhibitions. I mean maybe if you're a local it's just obvious but us on vacation we were like do we go in this garage? We came here for the penguin experience. I would have to say it is well done and had great mix of interaction and also education. My son got his photo taken and also pet the penguin twice. He also took video and photos on his camera. We were able to buy digital photo package afterwards which is nice since it was taken by photographer in the room. Rest of aquarium is nice and had lots of viewing tunnels. There is a kids indoor playground but that was okay. Cafe inside for food but we opted the food court inside the levee at newport. I really enjoy the Newport aquarium. It is not the best one I have ever been to but if toy have kids or family members who are into fish and sharks it's a must see in Cincinnati area. The price is decent I think for the amount you can see! We went recently and scuba Santa was available to chat with my kids for free which was a very cool experience!! Would opt for this as a cold day or very hot day activity as you are inside for the entirety of the aquarium (no outside exhibits). Parking is easiest (in my experience) at the main garage for the levee. read more

I was really surprised by the variety of sea creatures. I think my favorites were the coral, teeny tiny dwarf seahorses, and the moon jellyfish. They had lots of different touch tanks and the staff were really informative. I was surprised to learn that sharks (or at least this one particular shark's) skin was made out of dentin like human teeth. I liked that you walk through the cafe toward the middle of the aquarium so there's a good space to take a break and use the restrooms. I will say I was a little disappointed when we reached the end since it seemed short. Overall, it took us about 40 minutes maybe to walk through. My 3 yo granddaughter loved going here yesterday! There were lots of good exhibits & we enjoyed ourselves! The only thing I had a problem with was there wasn't enough restrooms or signage for restrooms. When we got there I didn't know there was a restroom by the candy store & we had to register her for a pass (it's free for toddlers 2-4!!) we both had to go but had to wait before we could get in & go. But had to get a pic first & wait for the elevator before we could get her to the restroom. It was rough! Then when we were through it all, there was no restroom close to the gift shop & that's when I was told it's outside by the candy store. She didn't make it that time unfortunately... Also when you're in the garage or even on the road there needs to be signage to get to the parking garage & getting to the entrance from the parking garage. I had to ask someone cause I really didn't know after I parked. Even though it doesn't look like it, Overall we did enjoy ourselves & will definitely be back! I don't think that I have seen them before now. Big NEGATIVE-cafe. I had been told the day before from the President/Dean of WGU that Cincinnati chili was best in the world. Skyline Chili is the brand they have chosen. I ordered fries with Skyline Chili and cheese. Not cheap or edible. Just awful. My friend had nachos and they were weak. Chips were falling down in half. 78 dollars for just myself and toddler. Then they try to take your picture as you enter that they'll charge you for. You can't even exit the place without leaving through a gift shop so your kid has to beg for everything. No other place in Cincinnati is this money hungry. All for an aquarium you can walk through in 20 minutes. We also made the mistake of going on a holiday so the tiny hallways were packed with people and we couldn't stop to enjoy anything. It's a pretty great aquarium all things considered- the price for a membership is well worth it if you have kids and live nearby. The disadvantage is having to pay for parking which I do find annoying, but it's also nice to get to stop by the indoor playground on the levee afterwards. I have been coming to the aquarium for years as a nanny but I appreciate it even more now with my own kids. I love that they even have a nursing room for breastfeeding moms - it makes going out feel much more peaceful to know there is a room I can go to if I don't want to feed my son in public! I love all the animals and attractions, especially the ones where you can touch certain animals. They have a nice cafe for snacks and food if needed. There's a good bio-diversity of fish, reptiles and animals from throughout the world. Must purchase tickets by phone ahead of time. Timed entry enforced. There's a typical restaurant and large gift shop. If you want to splurge ($59) you can have an up close and personal interaction with the penguins. I was so excited to learn they are doing backstage with penquins again....it stopped during Covid and has just restarted. I got to do this on my very first visit here, many years ago. And I couldn't wait to do it again. On a Tuesday at noon I had the place to myself!!! Four workers all concentrating on answering my questions, and letting me interact with my beloved penquins. This program is so educational and informative. I can't wait to do it again. Although my experience was one on one, they never allow more than 10-12 people at one time. And you not only learn about natural habitats, but you get to know their personalities as well. There are eight of them...all female. And different as night and day. And trying hard to hatch eggs...which will never happen as they're all female. This is not an approved mating site. After your experience, you can tour the rest of the exhibits as well. And try to get out of the gift shop without spending anything. Good luck with that. The cost was right at $50, and worth every penny. read more

You get immediate entry with a ticket purchased online, but you can't show up too early. They really are strict on crowd control and ticket times, which I honestly appreciate. There's nothing worse than trying to enjoy an exhibit, but being pushed out by a crowd. We went on a packed day and can still say there was plenty of room for us to enjoy all the animals and take our time. We felt like the experience was worth the price we paid. We loved the Newport Aquarium and will be purchasing a membership here! It's large and the employees are very knowledgeable about their areas. About halfway through the exhibits there is a frog themed play area for little ones in case they've grown restless looking at the fish. The stingray area was really neat and there were plenty of employees keeping an eye on those who were wanting to pet the stingrays. We stopped by the cafe for a snack. I went basic with a pretzel and soda. Something important for parents to note is that there are no lids. It is also important to note that if you do not have a pass YOU MUST BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE. We hadn't visited the aquarium in a while and we had an unexpectedly excellent visit. It was clean and pleasant, and with limited attendees, it wasn't crowded or busy which is a huge plus - my toddler was able to walk around and enjoy the experience without me being worried about losing him. We live in WI so we get to Shedd Aquarium once in a great while but it's always crazy busy and loud and dark, so I didn't have huge hopes for this one.
