I had an amazing time at the Yelp Queen City Showcase last night! The venue was absolutely beautiful and perfect for hosting so many great local vendors. We got tickets to the Q102 New Year's Eve party which includes complimentary parking at the garage, classic bar package, swag, and entry starts at 8:00 pm. Our friends and I were able to have access to see The Rusty Griswolds on the main stage, Dueling Pianos in Gangsters Speakeasy, Night-Only Cicero's Nightclub Revival with original DJ Mark McFadden spinning 90s and 2000s hits. We mainly stayed at the Cicero's Nightclub. We found seats and enjoyed our cocktails. The music selection was great and had a wonderful time. The Syndicate does different events. I always hear about people enjoying the murder mystery dinners. It's also banquet facility where you can reserve a room. Great for weddings or receptions. I recommend you check them out. read more

Thank you to yelp for inviting me to the Q102 NYE party - there was free parking, a classic bar package, swag which I didn't get there until later so I didn't receive and tenders and tots around 10 ish pm. There was three different areas with different vibes going on - in one room was the rusty griswolds a band style experience, in the gangsters speakeasy was the dueling pianos which was a fun karaoke vibe. In the basement was a 90's/2000's nightclub - we frequented the night club and the dueling pianos which were both great vibes! The chicken tenders were basic but good - the tater tots however were ice cold even tho they brought them out fresh. The drinks were strong! There was not one mixed drink I had that didn't taste like straight liquor so I started to just drink beer the rest of the night. All in all thank you yelp and the newport syndicate - I would definitely come back here for another event! read more

This was a fun place for an event. There is a grand ball room with a stage, the basement area with a dance floor and the speak easy with dueling pianos. There are bars in each venue. We spent New Years there and hung out in the speak easy, then moved to the grand room to hear the Rusty Griswolds ring in the new year. Parking on the street and a garage right across the street. My fiancée and I had been here before years ago for the dueling piano bar and really enjoyed it. This time, we scored tickets to the Q102 New Year's Eve party. They had lots going on the whole night. The Rusty Griswolds were playing in the main area, the dueling piano bar was absolutely hopping, and there was a DJ spinning some great tunes downstairs in the Cicero Room. The place has lots to offer outside of New Year's Eve too. They do wedding parties, bachelorette and bachelor parties, they have murder mystery dinners, corporate events, and their dueling piano bar is open Saturday nights until 1am. Our Masonic Lodge held a Murder Mystery Dinner, and it was a big hit with a large range of (adult) ages and demographics. The food was terrific, the staff friendly and helpful, and the event a lot of fun...a little silly and just a good excuse to dress up in gangster/moll and enjoy some conversation. The facility has lost its curb appeal due to what looks like general neglect and construction dust. Once the parking garage is complete, I hope they'll restore it to its glory. Inside, it's as beautiful as ever...a museum to Newport's colorful history. read more

Went last Saturday for the October mystery series. Had great food, a good and story line that drew upon the history of Newport and its colorful cast of characters before it cleaned up its act. Following the theater the door opened up and we got free admission to the dueling piano players who I believe used to headline howl at the moon saloon. This Newport stalwart celebrates its 30th anniversary this year so if you have not had a chance to take in one of their mystery dinners, all month they are offering some great fare and a free signature cocktail with each paid admission. We went for NYE 2024 and it was a good time. There was a good age range and two rooms open so you could bounce back and forth. Only downside is that one side had a smoking room so as people came in and out, the room got smokier and smokier. read more

Very disappointed in venue for my son's rehearsal dinner. The entire process very disconnected and lack of communication. Said there would be several tastings in summer and only had one but we were not told until I called (we were told we would be called). We had planning meeting, went over EVERYTHING and 2 days prior we were called apparently the information was not wrote down. Night of, NOT told of parking issues, the "up charge" dessert option had Milano cookies (I could have gotten from Kroger)., y try hey told me chocolate covered strawberries however no chocolate strawberries there. And my second glass of iced tea was severed in a MASON jar- stemware for everyone else!! Really??? No other event that night so I know the glasses were not all dirty. Very disappointed and shocked regarding the serve from this establishment!!! Think twice before booking! read more

Some friends and I just attended the murder mystery dinner. What a BLAST!!! Good bourbon, a delicious dinner of chicken marsala, vegetable lasagna, carrots, rolls, salad, and dessert. Analyzing the clues to solve the mystery was a lot of fun and lots of laughs. Also... the dueling piano bar after the mystery makes for a pleasant ending. An excellent night out. We had my son's wedding reception here. A couple of things were disappointing for me. When all the guests arrived, they were supposed to have two bartenders and there was only one which meant out guests had to wait in a long while just to get their first drink. Their sound system is only good if you want to have a dance party there. Many of my friends said that they could not hear my speech as well as some of the other ones. I ended up having to send them a written copy of my speech later. While the speeches were given, they did not turn the music completely off. Then when the music played it was so loud that many our guests couldn't have a decent conversation. The final blow was that they ran out of the buffet food for a table of three very very dear couples. Very embarrassing. They hobbled something together but that is inexcusable especially since they said that they usually have so much food left over that they donate it. You can't do receptions over again. read more

the murder mystery was honestly a joke. very poorly executed and not organized at all. the paper the host gave us didn't really make sense according to who committed the murder. some people said they got different clues. the food was fine, but not good enough to give it another star. would not recommend this. read more

We were married at the Syndicate in March 2019. Obviously, the venue has an amazing and unique style - that's one of the first things you notice about it, and it's best seen in person. We were married in the Grand Ballroom and had our reception in the Ambassador Room, so our guests got to experience the whole place. We had around 250 in attendance, and there was plenty of room for them. During the planning, Betsi and Sam were helpful, energetic, and organized. They are both knowledgeable and they really put in the effort to make sure we had everything we needed. If I have one piece of advice for couples, it's to make sure you do your part to stay on top of communication, because there is always a lot going on here. On the big day, they were on top of everything, attentive to our needs, and made sure all the vendors and wedding party were where they needed to be. The entire event went off without a hitch, thanks in no small part to their diligence. I especially want to call out Betsi and the chefs for going the extra mile with our food. We wanted to go all-vegetarian, and there weren't that many options available on their "stock" menu. Betsi and the kitchen worked with us - we traded recipes, Betsi arranged special tastings, and we iterated until we landed on the perfect menu, which they found a way to make for us without any extra cost. We got tons of positive comments about the food and couldn't be more grateful to the Syndicate for going out of their way to make it so tasty and memorable. read more

If you're anything like me, you've driven by here easily a few hundred times and found the place extremely intriguing and a bit tempting even, but you never stopped in because a). there just doesn't seem to be much going on around the place and b). you're not really sure what you'll find once you go inside. Let me tell you: The sweeping art deco facades of the Syndicate bathe in neon light. Within these walls resides a hand full of bars and halls that cater to weekend parties, wedding receptions, proms, and anyone looking to enjoy a couple of drinks and a couple of dueling pianists. The Syndicate has long been a nightclub, but once was a bowling alley, and an underground gambling facility long before legality was an option. The place was, at one time, fitted with its own subterranean escape tunnel in case the fed came to raid the joint. It seems that today most of their income comes from their plethora of privately reserved rooms for various parties. The Syndicate sports multiple rooms with DJ booths, stages, dance floors, and even one with its own smoking room. Many of the rooms have their own entries so their is no need to drag your party through the whole building. Multiple events can be going on at once without any knowledge of one another. Outside of the reservation rooms there is a main bar called Gangsters. Gangsters is a large curving bar top complete with an open stage area; dueling pianos; and perhaps a bit curiously, a couple of stripper poles. An outcropping of booths lines the exterior wall of the stage area and a herd of bar stools line the bar. If you're interested in what the Syndicate has to offer you'll definitely want to check it out on the weekend, as access is limited during the work week. read more

This is beautiful event space. They are very flexible with what you need, and really do try and tailor things to how you need. The atmosphere is gorgeous, and there are multiple rooms/setups to choose from! Most recently I attended a job fair there, which utilized almost the entire space. The basement would be a really fun place for a party, as it is darker and a little less flashy. The main room is absolutely beautiful, this is perfect for a wedding or reception. There are a couple small side rooms/bars that are great for a meeting or small gathering of people! Definitely going to be keeping this venue in mind! read more

My office has had our department holiday party at the Newport Syndicate for the past two years. Inside, the place is great. The hardwood everywhere, the classic feel... it gives you the sensation that you've taken a leap back into a 1920s club. The food provided is just okay. We had very bad service from the waitstaff when ordering our drinks. After a while, some of my coworkers just walked to the bar and got drinks themselves instead of waiting 15 minutes for a gin and tonic to be handed to them by the cocktail waitresses. The best thing about the Syndicate is the dueling piano bar next door. After our party time is over, we all usually go over to the piano bar and have a great time. I enjoyed my time there, and would definitely recommend the dueling piano bar! read more

Went in for drinks with friends. VERY COOL PLACE! Its like 5 different bars in one building so that is very cool. But the main bar is where the action is, place is packed, folks having great time, bartenders are awesome! Beer was cold, but hell its supposed to be so nothing to rave about there. Now if it'd been ice cold, that might have been worth writing about but it wasnt. I attended a wedding reception held here-on the lower level. The space was really unique and had the guests talking about the history of the place (was it really a strip club?!-who doesn't want to partake in that conversation at a wedding!). The staff were very attentive and helpful through the evening and meal. The food was pretty standard wedding food for this area, no complaints. I'm not sure if the acoustics are difficult or if it was just the DJ; the music was good, but the sound was pretty bad. The room has this interesting sunken dance floor in the middle and some other unique seating areas as well around the perimeter. Overall, it was a unique venue. We were provided complementary valet; without that, I'm not exactly sure where i would have had to park. read more

I recently held my wedding reception here, and my stars truly stand for "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" especially with the value. Hosting a reception here is very affordable, especially as it includes reception planners (planning, set-up, service, clean-up), very good food, open bar, customizable lighting and table layouts, and amazing ambience. We had a 150-person wedding in the Ambassador room -- ordered several appetizers, a buffet dinner which included prime rib and salmon, champagne toasts, and the open bar package. We also selected plum chair ties and table runners, and small table mirrors - in which they provided at a very nominal cost (much better than buying from Amazon!) We were living in Nashville, and arranged several meetings / exchanged emails with the coordinator, Samantha Haas, who was very responsive and attentive to our needs. She and the other Newport Crew arranged our table seating, plus extra tables and signs, to exactly what we wanted -- In fact, the whole night turned out absolutely perfect and beautiful. All our guests were very pleased with the evening and had a grand time. If anyone is interested, we were extremely pleased with ALL our vendors: ordered our cake from Tres Belles (champagne cake with raspberry jam and fresh raspberries, since we like fresh and fruity cakes), flowers from Krogers Floral on Ferguson Road (Trish designed my orchid, cala lily, and rose bouquets EXACTLY how I described in pictures, our mothers loved their corsages, the men cala lily pins were nice, and we ordered orchids as table arrangements), DJ was Chad from McFadden's (super cool dude; had a really good "feeling" about the scene), and Greg from Lowry Photos. We HIGHLY recommend Newport Syndicate for a wedding reception if you want a customizable and all-inclusive wedding deal that is quite affordable and provides a jazzy ambience! read more

I just held a charity fundraiser there for Toys For Tots, and I cannot even find the words to describe how disappointed I have been in dealing with this facility. My contact person was never available, I was overcharged on every single item involved in this process and when i tried to discuss my problems with the owner, she just smiled vaguely and handed me a bill. It was HORRIBLE. The food was cold and not AT ALL what I was told would be served. I paid for roast beef....we got penne pasta with salty brown gravy that had a few food stringy pieces of deli roast beef floating in it. I got cold soggy breaded chicken in some kind of yellow sauce that was supposed to be "champagne chicken". The chef's Vegetable of the day" was canned green beans. My Dessert and coffee bar was store bought cookies and a constantly empty coffee urn. We were charged over $30 a person for this inedible display of disgusting food, even though it was supposed to be $19.95 per person. The staff that served on the day were very nice, but they were working for a bonus tip, since I found out in the billing statement that no gratuity was included, although I had been assured that 20% was built in to our final bill as a gratuity for the serving staff. i went there for New Years Eve in2012 and 2011. 2011 wass great,great service great food gret band mostly great service by the waiters. Paid 100.00 a ticket for the food the band and unlimited drinks. Like I said 2011 awesome! Went back this past New Years Eve because of previous experience and it sucked! The service, there was none! The waiter told us our server walked out and he had 12 table himself and would try to do what he could He brought drinks one time didnt know what the yellow bracelet was for and charged 3. for a shot. He never came back. When I tried to get him to get us another drink he started to give me a story and i told him to forget it. Atable with radio personalities was next to us and they brought them beer and drinks without them ordering. They felt sorry for us and gave us some of their beer. I brought another couple with us a total of 4 couples instead of 2 because of the year before. Will not happen again. Very disappointed read more
