New Riff's whiskeys are outstanding, probably my favorite American whiskey along with Maker's Mark, 1792, and Knob Creek... but New Riff is tops for me. The charring they do to their barrels brings forward such an amazing vanilla note that runs through all their whiskeys... it just hits my palate the right way. Whether it's their straight bourbon, single barrels, single malt, or specialty releases, pretty much everything I've had from New Riff is excellent. The distillery itself is a wonderful experience, their staff is always amazingly, friendly and fun to talk to and the third floor bar is a blast. What a fabulous time! We were between tours, so the tour guide volunteered to give us a private tour showing the process of distilling this Kentucky bourbon. While years ago I did the bourbon trail, this was so unique. Following the tour, he left us in the upstairs bar. We not only had delicious drinks, we sat outside in the sun! A really nice looking Kentucky distillery just minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Our tour guide Eric was knowledgable and friendly and did a great job explaining their history and distilling process. We tried about five different whiskeys during the tour and had $10 off a purchase at the gift store at the end. There is a good sized bar on the top floor for the public as well. We enjoy checking out new distilleries (and old faves) along the Bourbon Trail. This distillery is only 10 years old and offers a decent bourbon. We did the tour and loved that they gave you sips of their different bourbons and whiskeys along the way. Our guide was Eric and he was very knowledgeable. The distillery's location is along the river that separates Ohio and Kentucky. It's at the very top of the Bourbon Trail, which makes for an easy stop as we drive south to Louisville. Since it's so new, it's very clean and open but has a distinct distillery "look" to it. Very accessible and right next to The Party Source, which it's owners actually started and sold to their employees. Recommend you add it to your list if you are in the area and enjoy bourbon. read more

My wife and I have been enjoying New Riff for a few years and have made it to the 3rd floor bar on multiple occasions. Our last trip was to introduce some friends form Atlanta to the New Riff experience. While we did not take the tour, we enjoyed multiple flights and multiple bourbon samplings as well as the pretzel and charcuterie board offered in the bar. The food was very good and the bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. You should definitely add New Riff to your bourbon experience rotation. read more

A relatively new small distillery (2014) that is literally across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. They offer a Bourbon,Rye and a Malted Rye as well as a Gin. Independently owned. Great looking bottles. Four tours are offered but you must book in advance. There is a fantastic rooftop bar - Aquifer- that offers specialty cocktails,samples and flights. Since it was Derby weekend,we tried their Mint Julep with Rye and an Old Fashion. Both cocktails were phenomenal. Recipes are posted on their website. They do have a small gift shop. This is a great find. My grandson mentioned this as a good new whiskey. Wow the tour was fabulous. the guide, Kevin, really knew his stuff. What a place and what a tour! On our way to Louisville, my boyfriend and I stopped at New Riff Distilling. Party Source is also in the same parking lot. The owners of New Riff used to own Party Source, until they decided to open a distillery and they sold Party Source to their employees, as rules state you can't own both tiers of a business (store and distillery). We took a tour with such an amazing gentleman. I didn't catch his name at the beginning of the tour, but he was excellent in his knowledge and disposition. He let us smell the different barrels that were up on the second floor and told us great facts, etc. He was friendly and personable. Definitely take this tour. It is more in-depth than some of the other bourbon tours you will experience in Kentucky. My favorite was the rye we tasted. Everything was smooth though and delicious. read more

The bourbon tasting room/bar is stunning, and would be wonderful for any event. My most recent tour was led by Dan. He was very kind, welcoming, and easy-going. I've been on quite a few tours, and generally hear a lot of similar information about bourbon, but it was particularly fun to hear so many unique facts about New Riff specifically. They really do make a unique product and are creative with their liquor. it was a very enjoyable experience finished with absolutely delicious bourbon. The staff was really nice when my daughter and I arrived, but our experience at the bar wasn't that great. We sat there for awhile as staff talked and cleaned before anyone acknowledged us. Once someone brought us water and said that a bartender would be with us soon, we sat another 10 minutes or so before someone came to check on the patrons sitting NEXT to us. Then each had two cocktails. The gin martini was very refreshing, the honey one was sweet and you couldn't taste the alcohol at all, but the real winner was the leader cocktail. So yummy!! Coming here for a few drinks with my friends was just awesome as how can you ever go wrong going to a distillery especially one like this! They have a limited capacity inside because of current times but we were lucky enough to not wait that long to get in once seated we had a few drinks all of which were totally yummy and just what was good for the time being! Grover (if that is his real name) was a great guide who focused on different parts of the process with a lot more flair than some of the others I've been on.
