I used NewRay in July and I want to start off with saying that I think the two gentlemen who did my move are great guys, but boy was my small move an ordeal. To start, I only used New Ray to move a couple pieces of large furniture, specifically my computer desk, my couch, my bed, queen mattress, TV stand, and heirloom dining table. There was some stuff from my apartment garage as well. -My dining table consists of two sets of X legs, which look like one piece but are not. This was carried out the door to the stairwell (3 flights) and prompted dropped, leaving deep gashes all over it. This was brought up by management and I was given a discount, which I appreciated. To my memory this was the only issue with the pack up from my apartment. -My IKEA couch, when brought into the new location, was attempted to be put back together but was actually missing a bunch of screws that the gentleman had put into his pockets and forgot about. He actually struggled to put it back together and I just had him leave it be and I ended up hobbling it back together later. -While my entry ways and stair wells are not large, they are not too small either. I still ended up with a lot of scuffs all over there walls and ceilings, specifically from my queen mattress. I later was able to move a king mattress from bedroom down with some friends as a part of a return with much less scuffing. The rate was reasonable (it was a snall move for a very short distance), went by quickly, and we got from point A to point B. But I likely will not use them again, and have already declined their services when I looking to move some things recently. - read more

Dylan and Carlos called me 20 minutes before their arrival (which was prompt at 9am!) and started to work quickly. Even though it was raining (and icy) they worked to get my stuff packed up in no time. They even disassembled my bed and bookshelf, along with moving an XL couch is under two hours. They waited patiently with me to figure out my storage unit and made sure I was comfortable with everything they were doing. I moved from a studio apartment into a room at a house. I have never used a moving company before, so I was a bit nervous. NewRay was there every step of the way. Move was ok. Movers didn't had adequate tools to disassemble and assemble furniture. They didn't had a drill and told me it will take longer as we don't have a drill. They asked for tools from me and took them with them and didn't even returned it. They did not assemble the beds correctly, they have lost couple of screws from one bed and didn't even tell us, we realised it when we went to sleep. They were frustrated as they were not able to figure out how to put together the beds. I regret giving them tip and they took at least 1.5-2 hours extra as they didn't had tools and skills to disassemble and assemble the furniture and also no curtesy to let us know if something was wrong or broken except for the young guy in the group. He was moving nonstop even the others were taking breaks and he was letting us know if he saw anything was broken or missing. I think we were unnecessarily charged 1.5-2 hours. Good for moving stuff, but bad for disassemble and assemble furniture. read more

Wonderful movers! Decided on this moving company through yelp and so glad I chose this company! The process of moving is a pain, but the movers made it so smooth! I had two strong men who were professional, efficient, friendly, and hardworking! The movers didn't complain at all and were professional (yes, I've had movers before this company who complained carrying my furniture). The movers carefully moved my furniture wrapping it up with blankets, so there were no scratches. Nothing broke. Although, I did pack my own boxes and used plenty of packing paper. It's not really fair to blame it on the movers, if you don't use enough packing paper/wrap. The movers knew how to maneuver the furniture efficiently (not struggling through the door). The overall payment was fairly priced, not expensive (cheaper than my last move). Lastly, my 2 movers wore their masks the entire time for safety! I was really impressed they kept their masks on the entire time carrying such heavy furniture. I plan on using NewRay Moving again in the future and reccomend this company. read more

A tough situation for us, and these guys just made their part of our move as easy as could be, and for a price that was substantially less than the next best quote. Ashley and others on the admin side were easy to work with, and we got a flat fee quote for a 350 mile move that was reasonable enough to almost make me wonder "What's the catch?" Garfield and Max showed up timely on Tuesday afternoon with a "heads up" call about 30 minutes out. They went right to work, often overwrapping things that I had already wrapped, just to make sure. Despite my efforts at being organized, we had a bit of chaos in our situation (moving an elderly parent out in a hurry because of medical issues, and relocating 350 miles away.) The guys handled this with good nature and efficiency, and finished up on time despite my diverting them for some extra stuff, and one large piece of furniture that we hadn't planned on and it turned out would've needed more disassembly than we were prepared to do. They drove away and parked overnight in their yard to avoid an overnight stay up in New England, and departed promptly the next morning. They showed up on time, moved my Mom's stuff into my basement, and departed for home. Great attitude the whole time - we really appreciated it! The only critique I have is that there are only two payment methods: cash or charge; and if you elect charge, there is a 6% convenience fee. I've never seen a fee that high, but we did it anyway because we had too much else going on to deal with running around and picking up $1,500 of cash. (The initial deposit is made via credit card with no convenience fee.) I was well advised of this policy, so it was not "sprung" on me last minute. Overall a great service! I should have known this company was inept when they neglected to set up a time to come to my apartment to get a visual of everything that was being moved. I filled out a form with an "estimate" of everything and they sent me a quote. When I accepted and paid the deposit they sent me a confirmation with NO date and time however it did say "no hidden fees, you will not be charged for anything else." Then 2 days before the mov they sent another confirmation with the wrong date. I ignored all of that, hoping for the best. The movers showed up and told me that the $500 quote I got was going to end up being $800 or $900 instead. So, they didn't come to my apartment to see everything that was being moved and quoted me a low amount so I would book with them and then the day of the move, knowing I couldn't get another crew, they change the amount AND tell me they'll be charging me for tape and shrink wrap that they "have to use" to secure my stuff, even though I had plenty of tape. DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! The movers themselves worked very hard but the company is terrible. read more

Joey and Garfield were such a pleasure and a great team to work with. I had a studio apartment move and requested to only have the big furniture moved. They did that quickly and efficiently and moved some additional boxes for me as well. They went above and beyond and brought some empty boxes back to my original apartment after the move was finished because I wanted to use the boxes to pack up more stuff for later. This saved me more than a few bike rides back and forth. They also junked an old bed frame for me, saving me from having to buy a rental car to take it to the dump. My move was a long distance move from Alexandria Virginia to Philadelphia Pennsylvania. My Movers arrives between the hours of 8 and 9 AM, specifically they arrived at 8:10 AM. The truck was quickly loaded. The movers spoke with me and stated they would be meeting me in Philadelphia. We (myself and moving truck) departed from my apartment around 10 AM. The moving truck arrived to Philadelphia around 1 PM they quickly unloaded my items and placed them in my desired location. This is a follow-up to my previous review. After I posted my review I was contacted by the company representative Jay. He wanted to go over my review which we did. We discussed (an overview) of the company policies; it appears that the employees either did not know or fully understand the company policies. Jay was very polite, he contacted the owners while we were communicating to discuss/confirm policies and expectations. It is my understanding that the company is still "young" so they too are learning what is acceptable customer service and are willing to adjust their policies where needed and ensure that their employees are aware of what is and is not acceptable. I too learned something from our conversation, as the customer I could have contacted the office during the move to address my issues while they were occurring and maybe things could have been immediately adjusted/rectified. Thank you Jay for reaching out and the gesture of good faith provided by the company. Based on our conversation I am giving the company three stars, I hope to see more five star and positive reviews so the company can grow into a successful competitive moving company. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I was not at all please with the service. I originally booked for 1pm but the movers never came. They never bothered to notify me that the movers were going to be late due to truck troubles. I reached out multiple times to finally have them bring in another crew. The work didn't start until 4pm (3 hours late). This wasn't a problem until one of the crew that came had a NASTY attitude. When I asked him to wrapped some of my furniture, he simply ignored me and proceed to move my stuff into the vehicle which caused some of my furniture to be damaged. When I had questions for him, he would get annoyed and answered rudely. My friend and I also had to help pack the truck for him because he spent majority of his time "de/assemblying" the bed for almost an hour (hence, we had movers before for the same bed and it takes no more than 20 minutes). With our help, the total amount was at least $400 for a 3 hour work. When the work was done, I had questions about the total amount and wanted to speak to the manager first before paying. The mover then got got angry and threw the billing papers at me. The movers behavior was ugly, unprofessional, rude and arrogant. Overall, the service was terrible and came with unprofessional movers. Additionally, I had to wait 3 hours to have my furniture ruined. If you need a mover, go with another moving company. Surely, any company will be more professional and cheaper than NewRay Moving. I only chose this company because they were the only one available for my last minute move. read more

I am sharing my experience to hopefully spare others - NewRay moved me this past weekend and it was terrible. They broke my desk, damaged 3 other pieces of furniture (2 chairs, 1 dresser), took 7.5 hours when I was quoted 3, and were extremely disrespectful and rude when it came time to pay. Moving is stressful enough without being insulted in your own home at 10pm after a full day of moving - on top of your items getting broken. The management team was helpful (eventually, after some strong back-and-forth) in terms of reducing the overall rate due to damage. Overall, I have never had such a horrible moving experience. I will never use this company again, and strongly encourage you to do your research prior to engaging them. read more

Dos quickly put together a quote (which was by far the most reasonable) and forwarded all the necessary documents within minutes and Dos was available to answer our questions and address our concerns. Moving day (2 days after first contact) was a breeze. Our 3 man crew arrived within the expected time frame and quickly began working. It was absolutely amazing to watch. I booked New Ray for our recent move after seeing so many rave reviews. I truly do not understand how they have such great ratings after my terrible experience. The supervisor was pretty condescending to me the whole day. They were rushing to get out of there as fast as possible and took off without asking if we were done. They left me with a ton of stuff still at my old house. So I paid nearly $1,000 and then spent the next two days lugging stuff to my new house. Its doubly insulting because they rounded up their time at the start and end of the day. If they'd actually worked all the time I paid for, everything would have been moved. It's been an incredibly frustrating experience. They also broke two pieces of furniture in my kid's room. Management apologized and gave me a small refund for the broken items but the time theft is what really burned me. read more
