I would not recommend this jeweler for platinum resizing or repairs. After having my engagement…read morering resized, the shank was left noticeably too thin, which compromised the integrity of the ring. I ultimately had to take it to a more experienced jeweler to have the shank replaced. When I brought the issue back after he resized it, he declined to fix it and acknowledged that he is not very comfortable working with platinum . He also did not seem equipped to properly work with platinum. He was only able to remove material during sizing and did not have the capability to add platinum to stabilize or reinforce the band. That's a major concern because platinum requires specific expertise and necessary materials. There was also a communication barrier that made it difficult to discuss fine details or get clear answers to my questions. I didn't feel confident that my concerns were ever fully understood or addressed. On top of that, I later found out I was overcharged for the initial resizing. Another jeweler quoted me significantly less (about $65 cheaper) for the same work, and with much better results. I believe he means well and may be fine for VERY basic repairs, particularly on gold jewelry, but I regret trusting him with something as important as my engagement ring.

There was always something cozy about visiting B&N to sip coffee, flip through magazines and snicker at racy book covers. Now I visit B&N to shop their puzzles and to peruse the Paper Source collection. Yes, that's right, Paper Source is now sold at Barnes and Noble including one of my favorite brands - Rifle Paper Company. B&N also has one of the best brick-and-mortar puzzle collections around and in January they are buy one, get one 50%. On my recent visit to the Columbia Barnes & Noble I was poking around for a few things in particular and I found the staff to be very helpful. This particular store is located just outside the Mall in Columbia. It's detached from the main part of the mall but it's also not that far to walk between the mall and B&N.

There was an event going on - food when I walked in was a dead giveaway. The store itself isn't very big but there were about 10 people looking at fountain pens. I couldn't even look since people were at the counter. For me, customer service is everything and no one working acknowledged me, not even to say hi. I know you may be busy but if you have a customer that just walked in, say hi. I looked around and found they had field notes so I looked at those for a bit and then my eyes wandered over to the hobinichis. I have never seen a hobinichi in person before so it was nice to get a sense of the size. I looked around at the pelikans and other fountain pens but there were alot of people so I left. In regard to community outreach, their social media pages clearly communicate upcoming events and highlight their wide variety of book clubs. I attended the Dark Romance Book Club and was please with how well the store facilitated the discussion, especially given the large size of the group. Coming in for the meeting, chairs had already been placed out in a circle for members to sit. The conversation was engaging and well organized with employees asking questions that had clearly been researched beforehand. My only complaint is that parking can be scarce during busy hours such as book club events, particularly after snowfall when available spaces are more limited.
