I would not recommend this jeweler for platinum resizing or repairs. After having my engagement ring resized, the shank was left noticeably too thin, which compromised the integrity of the ring. I ultimately had to take it to a more experienced jeweler to have the shank replaced. When I brought the issue back after he resized it, he declined to fix it and acknowledged that he is not very comfortable working with platinum . He also did not seem equipped to properly work with platinum. He was only able to remove material during sizing and did not have the capability to add platinum to stabilize or reinforce the band. That's a major concern because platinum requires specific expertise and necessary materials. There was also a communication barrier that made it difficult to discuss fine details or get clear answers to my questions. I didn't feel confident that my concerns were ever fully understood or addressed. On top of that, I later found out I was overcharged for the initial resizing. Another jeweler quoted me significantly less (about $65 cheaper) for the same work, and with much better results. I believe he means well and may be fine for VERY basic repairs, particularly on gold jewelry, but I regret trusting him with something as important as my engagement ring. read more

My wedding ring was damaged when my finger got electrocuted. I was worried the repair would be complicated and expensive, but it's my wedding ring so I was willing to pay to have it done well. Murillo exceeded all my expectations!! Not only did Murillo repair the ring in under 2 hours, it was also way less expensive than I expected! He polished it as well and it looks amazing. You cannot tell where the damage was at all. I will definitely be coming back for a few other repairs to jewelry. read more

I took a considerable number of watches to Murillo's Jewelry store, and I was very disappointed with the price I was quoted to replace the batteries in my watches. I should have just walked out and checked somewhere else, but It's been a while since I had batteries replaced. So I thought due to inflation everything had considerably increased in price. I believe I took about 15 watches and decided to leave only 4 watches to get the batteries replaced. One of them was a vintage gucci and he was charging me $45 for that battery and for the other 3 watches $30 a piece. Fortunately, the movement in the Gucci was not working so he didn't charge me for that. All in all, 3 battery replacements cost me $95.00. This will be my first and the last time I go to Murillos to get batteries replaced in my watches. In addition, the next day I decided to call a local jewelry repair store on 198 in Laurel to see how much they charged to replace batteries and shockingly found out they charged $12/watch. So, I took the remainder of all my watches to this place. The service there was phenomenal, honest, and very reasonably priced. read more

The owner was able to fix the clasp on my favorite necklace. My wedding rings had also never been cleaned and he buffed some scratches out and had them sparkling like brand new. They look beautiful! He also fixed some loose stones. Overall, very pleased. read more

I have walked by this jewelry repair shop for many years and because there were no reviews, never thought to try it. Today I went in to get food from the new place Olive Tree across the way and thought I'd wander over to the shop while I waited. I'm so glad I did! Mr. Murillo was helping a customer and as they finished up, she turned to me lavishing him with high praise for his craftsmanship and reasonable prices. She even pulled out the ring that he had resized and added stones to. I decided to get an estimate for resizing my wedding ring. (Long story + long distance engagement = wedding ring that was way too big for me.) For years I got those ring sizers/bridges to make it fit, but they would eventually bend and break. And didn't want to part with the ring for days/weeks (as other jewelry shops would require for resizing), so I never got it done. Mr. Murillo quoted a price that was $25 less than a mall jewelry franchise and promised to do the resizing while I waited. So I handed over my precious piece and watched nervously as he expertly sliced, soldered, buffed, polished and cleaned my ring to a sparkle that I haven't seen in years! I'm reserving one star for future work. If all goes well, I may have to up my rating. read more
