CrystalTech now Newtek has been hosting my business www.BarTime.net for near 23 years. Like all relationships, especially long relationships, things are not always perfect. There have been some issues, some very big issues in fact. What they did though to remedy issues, my issue, is amazing, which at the end of the day is integral to be a successful business. Have been with this company for at least 15 years, starting when it was Crystal Tech and have to say the company is not what it was. Slowly, I've been losing clients due to their service and made it clear each time I had to call due to a server issue - no one cares. Submit an email support ticket and you'll get a response at least 7-days later asking if the issue is still happening, if you get a response at all. Call and speak to someone that the server is timing out and get told there are no issues on their end and that is it. Sadly, stay away and find another host. read more

Have used this provider for more than 8 different sites as both a business and personal web publisher. I have used various html generation applications and gave actually tried a few different publishing companies through the last approximately 20 years. I have worked in healthcare IT for a majority of my 45 years in technology and customer service and product support. My last professional position was as a Product Manager for medical imaging and reporting product lines. I can honestly say that Newtek is at the top two in my list of technology companies I have used in either a professional or personal requirement over the last 20 years. The products they have available, the ease of implementation for their products, and most importantly, the support that this organization provides to their clients is truly at the top of an ever changing technical environment. Nice job Newtek. You truly deserve the 5 stars. read more

I've been with this company for more than 20 years back when they were Crystaltech. Until very recently, when there was an issue (there's always a few each year that cause my email to stop working), I've been able to call a phone number, talk to a competent American human in tech support and get it resolved. Until the last few years. No more phone support, they take AT LEAST a week to respond to any ticket and if you don't then reply to them within, get this: 48 hours when they bombard you with three automated responses, they close the ticket. Also every single time they reply they obviously do not read the ticket (where i always include tons of specific info, screen grabs, etc) and just go through the '101' b.s. advice/questions. In the last two years I've gone from having all my e-mail aliases working on all 5 devices to now one of those aliases only comes in one on device. They offer zero solutions. I've had so many problems with them over the last few years and keep hoping they will go back to their old great service-- they will not. Crappy company. Run from them now, you have been warned. read more

This small company is as mismanaged and inefficient as any organization I've ever worked with. You are literally better off hiring anyone else. Nothing works for very long and when things break it takes Newtek an inordinate amount of time to resolve the issue. This company had a lot of one star reviews until they were relatively recently scrubbed for them by another company. A few years ago, Newtek hired Jared Mills as their COO. This individual had zero organizational experience and a lackluster job history in which he bounced around from one short term position to another. The only credentials this individual has is a "degree" from DeVry "university". You'll quickly realize after speaking with this individual that he is your typical type A I.T. bs artist whose only real contribution is attempting to hide or mask Newtek's long track record of incompetence. Newtek has recently promoted this individual to a new and even more comical job title, further proving their ineptitude as a company. Run, don't walk, from Newtek. read more

Scott McFadden and Jamey Dougall were instrumental in fixing issues that only someone who cared could do. They went the extra mile. we really needed help and they both came through! besides working on our issues, they offered solutions we did not think of and what they were uncertain about they researched and did not guess. we are very much in debt because of their help! I had used Newtek in my previous business for selecting hosting services for some of my clients. Upon closing out the business, we missed an account that was being hosted via Newtek. Truth be told, the site had already been transferred and all that remained was an ancient static landing page. Charges were minimal, the fault was mine, but they added up over time. Clint helped me close out the account, I asked for some consideration (not all of it mind you, just a lil' love) regarding the fees as it was a historic, static and unused landing page. Unfortunately, "management" informed me that it was my responsibility--Yes, I know, I already fell on that sword--And, that no consideration would be given. Fair enough. And, simultaneously disappointing. In a time where customer service should should reign... This service provider chose policy over service. Unfortunate. read more

I had an excellent experience today with Clint Sayles. I've been with NTS for years and find them to be responsive and reliable.

This company is HORRIBLE. In my 30 years as a marketing executive, I have never encountered such unprofessionalism and poor work product. No customer care, no follow through, no responses to inquiries, very high turn over, no accountability. Our site was delivered ONE YEAR LATE and in terrible working order--built on a defective platform and now we have to pay a new company to fix it. No one at Newtek cares if the customer is happy or not---they just go dark and do not respond. Accounting department is equally screwed up as they continued to generate auto-billings even after we fired them. They also accidentally intertwined our business account with that of an individual, and we had to get that individual's permission to get our OWN account (that we were paying for) back. This list of their blunders and failures goes on and one. Don't just walk, RUN AWAY from these completely incompetent people. Something is very suspicious about their ability to continue to operate when the provide such ridiculously poor service. read more

I would avoid this payroll company. We used them to pay our Nanny and this company submitted all our IRS payments as a 941 employee instead of a household employee, this prevents us from being able to deduct our estimated tax payments, and now we owe the IRS almost $4,000. Newtek said they would submit the proper forms to reverse the 941 classification, but they never did and now they just ignore us. So I have to continue making penalty, interest and unwarranted payments to the IRS because of Newtek's incompetence. read more

Been in IT for over forty years. Started with them when they were CrystalTech. I work globally in million dollar projects so I have been around, they have descended into one of the worst I have ever encountered. Vast majority of their IT support is clueless only a few left that have clue and one or two who are actually very competent. Seem to be only interested in profit and a quick sale, not in support of customer relationships, hosting, VPSs or websites. Seem to be branching out into other services and ignoring their core. Run, don't walk away. read more

Newtek is unreliable, slow to respond, and when you do get a response it usually does not solve the problem. I'm a pretty patient guy, but after lots of mistakes, a horrible support ticket system that lands you with a new tech after every reply (maybe this is why they're called "Newtek"?) I couldn't take it anymore. They have some areas to improve before I would ever consider doing business with them again. read more
