Phil comes to the rescue just when you need him most and I'm sure people are grateful for the prompt response as the flood waters rise in their basement. We had a horrible flooding issue in our basement apartment recently. Bff and specifically Phillip was responsive, showed up the same day with a full crew and lots of fans.they helped move our furniture out of the way, immediately got to work as well as and calming our fears of mold and mildew. They tore out a wall and patched it the same day. They cleaned up after themselves. Their prices were competitive and their great attitude was much needed during this stressful and unpleasant time. In March 2023, my basement flooded with higher table water. I called couple of companies to get the quote. Philips was one of them. When he came he told me I don't have to worry and let others go. He will complete the work and charge insurance directly. Another lady from different company told me that it will not be covered by insurance. When I told Philips, he assured me that insurance will cover this. He started water removal on Thursday, March 2nd with his equipment in basement. But later he did not show up. Water was still there and his equipment stopped working due on electricity tripping. My tenants said water was always there. No improvement. Later I worked with other company and fixed the entire issue between march 12 to march 15 by adding sump pump and French drain. Philip never came or checked within that period. On march 15 he asked if he can take his equipment as it is running continuously and may get ruined. He is not even aware that his equipment shut off long time back and issue is fixed with sump pump and French drain installation from other company while his equipment was sitting there idle. All of a sudden today on august 2nd he asked me for $1500 for his work or open a claim with insurance so he can charge $5000 to insurance. Very frustrating. This guy never solved the issue. Gave false promises to earn business. Never showed up after putting his equipment to charge me more and more. Be aware and do not go with his words. read more

Libery Mutual told me to call these guys after we had a flood in our house from a leaky sink. Philip, the owner came right over with some equipment right away on a Sunday evening. Because I wanted to reduce the COVID risk, Philip did most of the work himself over the next five days, always extremely accessible and professional. He also was great in dealer with the insurance company. He also did a good job trying to balance our needs to dry out the house, work from home, have kids at home, reduce COVID exposure, and avoid unnecessary going into walls. Not a great experience. Similar to other reviews I can say Philip will assure you that he will take care of everything and then disappear. I had a pipe burst causing significant water damage. The crew did a fairly good job removing wet material and mitigating damage although they did have to come back for a few spots missed. The problem was the final report that had to be submitted to insurance. I called and emailed Philip numerous times with no response. Weeks later, once the report was finally submitted, my insurance adjuster notified me that it was only about 10% complete and did not include any relevant information to show the amount of damage. Philip and his team delayed the insurance claim significantly and in the end because of their horrible report I lost out on thousand of dollars from my insurance. read more

Hired them after two pipes froze and burst this past winter. Job was completed slower than anticipated, communication was poor, and finish work is very sloppy. Edges of drywall not sealed to exterior walls, taping of the drywall and mudding is poor, fixtures were not hung back up, and they didn't even fix a couple spots where damage had occurred. This company is great! They repaired the damage done by ice damming which occurred last winter, including alleviating the mold that had grown inside the wall and ceiling. They did a perfect job of repairing and reconstruction of the damaged areas including replacing the crown molding on the window. They dealt directly with the insurance company too. Buyer beware - this was the worst experience ever. If I could have put zero star, I would have. Immediate response to start the project and then ... poor communication, many times where there was no call back as promised to discuss next steps, no project plan provided to show approach, poor remediation, (pics of them breaking granite and cupboards to remove floors), shoddy restoration (pics of ceiling showing how bad they were). We hired them to remediate and repair extensive water damage to a multi-floor condo unit. The damage had resulted from a major roof issue that was present across multiple storms. Their initial response was very good. They installed fans and dehumidifiers to dry out the affected areas. They worked with our insurance company to get a supplemental claim when additional damage not covered by the initial claim became apparent. Repairs/replacement of wall and ceiling areas, along with repainting of those areas, went fairly smoothly, and the quality of that work was high. They also removed and replaced a section of water-damaged hardwood flooring, and refinished the entire floor in the affected room. At this point the project was about 90% done. The final 10% proceeded much less smoothly. Trim for the new hardwood floor took a very long time to replace and paint; for some reason never adequately explained, the replacement trim required custom milling even though the original trim was standard. During this phase of the project, communication was much less prompt and thorough. There were multiple instances when information was not forthcoming, calls were not returned, etc (although office manager Sandra was always as helpful as she could be). Once work was finally done, I had to call many times, over many weeks, to get them to send me a bill. (One would think they would want to be paid as soon as possible.) Here, too, calls were not returned and information was not provided until I had made multiple requests. The insurance company had paid us the claim amount; I needed to pay that amount to Newton Fire and Flood, per our agreement -- and to do that I needed a bill. Only then could I prove to the insurance company that the agreed-upon work had been done and paid for, and only then could I apply to the insurance company for the claim's additional depreciation 'holdback' that was due to us. Overall, the entire experience was mostly satisfactory. But my feeling is that this company does very good work but could desperately use more support in the back-office/project-management area. Hence four stars, not five. read more

Woke up one Saturday morning at 6 am to 8 inches of water in the basement. The water main into the house broke before the valve and caused the flood. Newton Fire and Flood can highly recommended by the responders. My water heater leaked. I called NF and F on a recommendation from a plumber. They arrived promptly and set up air movers and dehumidifiers. Three days later they came and removed all of the equipment. An estimator from NF and F came out to appraise the situation as did my insurance company. I never received the estimate from NF and F. After several calls with each one ending in them telling me they will email me the estimate, I never received it. I've given up. read more

We had a major flood in the basement of our brand new home. Obviously we were extremely traumatized. Newton Fire and Flood was right there to help us and made the process very easy for us. I researched various Flood restoration places before calling Newton Fire Flood. Yelp was very useful in the process of picking Newton Fire and Flood. The company got good reviews on Yelp, especially since they said the owner gets involved directly. I called and sure enough the owner called me back before 7 AM ! Philip is the owner. Yelp was right!! The owner was hands-on involved from beginning to end. He knew of the flood even before I told him. They do the exact same thing that the large companies do. They all have the exact same equipment, same fees and charges, they are all capable. The difference here is that Phillip, the owner is there, and will stand behind his work. He said it takes them one day to do this and he can have a crew at our house by the same morning that I called. ( since the damage in my home was substantial, it took them 3 days but the insurance covered everything) They have spcl commercial dryers, and dehumidifiers. they take a million photos. The faster you dry it, the less mold there is. "The sheetrock gets wet, wicks right up like a sponge. We cut 2 feet around the baseboard and remove the wet insulation. Then in a few days a contractor can put up new sheetrock. Or we can do it - we are a full service company. We can do anything and everything" I recommend Newton Fire and Flood wholeheartedly. read more

Newton fire and flood handled are toxic mold cleanup. Everything they did was poor including communication with us. We pointed out mold that needed to be addressed still and they said it wasn't mold just by looking at it. But it was! you have to test it! When they started cleaning the mold up with remediation chemicals, they did not seal the work space, contaminating the house and all our linens and clothes. Because of the dangerous chemicals used, My family of 4 and 2 dogs had to stay 1 room at a hotel for a week! They would leave there machines longer than they said they would and then charge you for the extra days. Overall we are very happy with this company. Quick estimate after our basement flooded, quick service, prices (after bargaining) in line with the other providers. The reason that we are taking a star off, is that the first time the workers showed up, their results were sloppy - they left a patch of wet carpet under a dryer, and old carpet was piled up uncovered under the rain in the backyard. After a call to the owner they came back the next day and did a very thorough job, even disposing of the old carpet, even though it was not part of the agreed price. So inspect the results before the workers leave and do not be shy about pointing out any rough spots, but they do their job quickly and efficiently. read more

I'm going to walk you through the process. Stage 1: My mother in law had flood damage to her entire first floor. Early morning we found this company and Phil, the owner, was meeting me first thing in the morning. Within an hour we had machines throughout the entire first floor drying out the damage. 5 days later, they came to remove their equipment and the house doesn't smell like mildew. Claim number has been filed, photos have been taken, insurance company has been contacted. Today I met the second man in charge, James, as they walked through and assessed the damage one more time. So far I have not had to do anything and every phone call has been handled professionally and honestly by Phil. The company was very busy at that time but they managed to accommodate me with industrial fans and dehumidifiers so there was no long term damage to the floor even though the carpet sat wet for a week or more. Home owners beware! We had a water pipe burst in our basement last year and they were very quick to assess and bring in their equipment BUT the staff that did the repair and reconstruction aspect were absolutely awful. There was no communication between the office, Philip and the crew. I could never get in contact with Philip. They came on random days without notice and stayed until late on weekdays. The tiles were not level. The cuts of the tiles were jagged. They LOST our glass shower door AND THEN THEY ACCUSED US OF NEVER HAVING A SHOWER DOOR. They sent me a picture trying to say there wasn't one and we had to prove to them using the same picture and the gloss reflection of the door that there is a door there. HOW LUDICROUS. They used different tile grout in one area and then white caulk in another. They left a pipe leaking when they disconnected our sink and caused additional water damage. We asked them to just paint the entire area one color and they painted it TWO DIFFERENT colors. They RUINED our wood stairs going down to the basement and had to redo them and then stained them a whole different color and did not even seal it. Now you might be asking why didn't you just have them fix all the things aforementioned? Because our pipe burst was in JANUARY and they didn't finish until AUGUST, I wanted them OUT OF MY HOUSE!! I feel like I have been mislead with all the positive reviews. My experience is clearly different. I engaged with NFF after the March flood. Initially, I felt they were amazing. They came out pretty quickly and worked late into the evening powerwashing and disinfecting etc. That is when my opinion started to change. The subsequent drying out period took much longer than expected. Additional removal of soaked plywood was required. It took them over a month to submit their paperwork to the insurance company, because they were busy. It is now 68 days later, and I am still without sheet rock and flooring in my lower level. I just called them once again. (Sandra has always been very pleasant) I was told I may have an update in a few days. An update, not a start date! So where does that leave me???...With ZERO confidence that their project management skills, for the next phase of construction, will be any better then it has been.. simply terrible! read more

We had two great experience with Newton fire and flood. The first was 3 years ago when we had a main drain back up. What a mess! At first I tried to clean it up myself, but it was way too much and causing me to get sick. I then looked up who could help and called Newton Fire and Flood. Quickly came over Phil and immediately he had equipment brought over to do initial cleaning and machines set up to dry the basement out. He was pleasant and informative. He continued this way throughout the whole relationship. He helped interact with the insurance company to make sure we got the correct support from them. He got mold specialists here to take care of that issue. His crews were polite and respectful and always cleaned up after themselves. The job was completed with full satisfaction-so much so that we used them again within the last year for a pipe freeze in the dinning room and kitchen. It happened at night and Phil sent over one of his men to spend a few hours to stop the leakage and to set up the drying machines. As before, they completed the job quickly and with competence. These guys are amazing. We had a pluming emergency last week and they saved the day! My husband and I work opposite schedules and they were able to come at a time that worked for me, which was beyond helpful! When they arrived they couldn't have been more friendly. When I showed them the area that needed cleaning they just smiled and said it would all be taken care of. Like the professions that they are they went right to work and I was amazed! They took photos in case we filed a claim with our insurance company later on. They had all the equipment to clean, satanize and disinfect! They were able to complete clean up from the pipe spillage and they totally took out the awful smell! As they has to walk through a kitchen and living room to work those rooms got messy in the process. When they were done working they went and cleaned those rooms as well!
