absolutely fantastic customer service from Brent. he is the owner and he came out and checked the…read moreproperty, fully explained to us what the company would do, walked the property and showed us what he had in mind, and what it would look like at night had a few questions after he left so i emailed him and he was very prompt and courteous with full explanations in his reply. his guys came over to install the lights - they also changed all of our exterior lights (we bought new ones to have them put in) for a small fee (which was disclosed well ahead of time). one of the lights we had was missing parts, so wife went to lowes to exchange it. these guys could have left and said heck with it - we can do it later --- but no, they stayed back and prepped the light that needed to be changed, and when she got back, they got right to work on it. they took the time to explain to her and i (separately) how the lights work, the control box, all of the particulars, and what to look for, and that brent would visit soon after dusk, to make any adjustments to the lighting. well let me tell you, when the lights came on, we ran outside to take a look. the house looks like a completely different house!! These lights make ALL the difference - simply amazing investment. it really makes people notice the house without being too in-your-face. very very beautiful, even i appreciate the look of it, and with new exterior lights on the house itself, beautiful!!! i cant say enough good things about this company. very very professional and you will not be sorry.

Not reliable. 2 times consecutively, he pulled a no show/no call. I thought it was weird he said…read morehe would come on Saturday. Then, when he was 2 hrs late with no call, I called him and he said his kid had soccer. I thought I'd give him another chance thinking he just didn't want to say no when he said he would come on Saturday. He knew we really needed him bc my kiln was not firing and I needed service before the kiln tech could come. And so I thought he didn't want to say no. So we agreed to him coming Monday at 9 am. At 9:45, my husband called and he said (get this) he was late because he inhaled suds while in the shower. He said he was on his way. At 10:30, still no show, we texted him and told him to forget it. He never replied. During this, he wasn't answering his phone and his voicemail was full, too. And these were not even the first time something like this happened. Once before, a couple years ago, he came to give an estimate and during the estimate he fixed a small problem and said he would send us his estimate for the whole job. Then he couldnt come back to do the job bc he hurt his foot. Even though we now had to find someone else to do the entire job, we sent him a check anyway for the small repair he did during the estimate because we felt bad he had been in the hospital. He seemed like a good guy back then. But now I think maybe that was not true either. Anyway, I would not recommend. I don't like leaving bad reviews. But someone else one time posted a review about a company I was just about to sign a contract with. That person saved me from making a huge mistake. So now, when something is really bad, I do a review.

First let me say that I was a painting contractor from 1988 to 2002, so I believe that my…read moreexpectations can be higher than most. With that being said, I hired Nichols Electrical Contracting to do the following on a house built in 1966. 1) Install a new electrical panel with a full house surge protector. 2) Wire and install new light fixture in master bedroom closet. 3) Wire and install light fixtures in family room ceiling (on dimmer) 4) Install dedicated circuit going into garage for air compressor. The above mention jobs where done on time, on budget, and passed electrical inspections on the first go-round. The exposed craftsmanship (i.e. Switches, lights, etc.) all where professional installed and looked great. I did not give them a perfect rating because they did leave some drywall dust in the rooms. I personally feel that the "Best" contractors completely clean up after they are done, or at least try to minimize dust. In a nutshell, I would hire them again and they are a company I trust to get the job done properly.

The other informed me that the did not give quotes ahead of time for the type of work I described, and that I would be charged $137/hour + materials, and that they would just take care of everything when the arrived. Uh... tell me that doesn't sound like a recipe for running my wallet empty! On the other hand, Shayne of Magee Electric was happy to stop by and spent over an hour surveying the work that needed to be done. He wrote me up a very clear estimate, with a very clear breakdown of possible material costs (not really marked up at all!) and hourly rate (which was about half that of the other company). When he came to do the work itself, he brought an assistant to help out. He was super patient in answering all my questions and really knew what he was doing. Incredibly reasonable rate for quality service. They stayed past lunch so I ordered them a pizza which they really appreciated (and even adjusted my rate slightly for a discount -- Shayne's really so nice!). They were super professional and even insisted on taking their shoes off when they entered and even took out the pizza box for me. They really went above and beyond! Magee Electric is a business started by Shayne's father (grandpa?). It's local and family-owned, so another reason to support them! I'm definitely know I'll use them for any electrical work I might need done in the future.
