From the moment I arrived, she was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming, which made me feel comfortable right away She took the time to thoroughly walk me through the entire facility, explaining everything in detail and making sure I understood all the benefits and options available. Ruthie was very knowledgeable and patient, answering all of my questions and giving me helpful insights that made a big difference. I truly felt that she cared about making this the best experience for me. The owner is out of touch with reality. I was a member for 2.5 years and went 5 am. That's all I want is a nice clean club to work in. I can get this anywhere. So when I received my latest increase of 10% which,put me at $369 a month I left. The owner is building a bunch of boutique stuff inside and the regular members are paying for this. Whether you want to use all the other crap going on inside you wind up paying for it in your membership. Oh, also I was told no senior rates for anyone. I urge any and all seniors 65 and older to boycott this club. read more

If the place was maintained well, it would almost be worth the money. The indoor lap pool is currently, and has been for quite a while, growing a healthy amount of algae, accompanied by various items such as leaves, band aids, unidentifiable floating debris. They hardly ever clean the pool properly, if at all. ​ the basketball courts need to be refinished badly. They spent a fortune building a new entrance, called the north entrance, but it is not open for member use for some reason. Their app is garbage as it hardly offers any useful information. A friend gave me a guest pass and I had not been in many many years (I am talking a friend in the 80's had her birthday party here at the indoor pool) so I gave it a go. I admit I was reluctant as I am also very familiar with the antics and political rantings of the owner who is a Trump phanatic and i believe trump still owes him a chunk of cash for allowing him to stump there the first time. Anyway, I thought "how bad could it be?" And wow. The facility might be ok (honestly a little outdated) but the vibes here are just....weird. The women all must share the same plastic surgeon. Their faces are far too similar. The sauna was nice but the elliptical had seen better days. The staff seemed to mostly be nice but also kind of...unsettled? Which is why the next part really made me never want to return. The owner appears and starts SHRIEKING at an employee who from what I could see and hear, merely responded "ok, sure" to the other employee yelling about how "stupid" they were (when they had been super nice and greeted me at my arrival earlier" and then called him the r-word. If this guy is speaking to his employees like that in front of patrons (although to be honest, I kind of feel like the patrons expect and want to see this kind of behavior which to me, epitomizes the problem with this gross place) I can't imagine what he's like behind closed doors. Now I'm regretting not making better use of my free pass but I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. read more

I wouldn't recommend this gym because people in this gym are rude and they take pictures of you without your permission in the changing rooms. That should not be allowed. My friend had the same issue because she went with her child to the swimming pool and then she went to change in the dressing rooms, apparently she was warned that she's not allowed to change there so she understood this but some weird grandma came up to her and started taking pics of her child and her body and she has no clue if she posted them anywhere online for everyone to see her... The Philadelphia Magazine article about the NAC finally made me open my eyes on how mismanaged and unethical this place has become. The owner is a bully (read some of his comments) who will do anything for a little attention and he has created an unwelcoming environment at the gym. I was a long-time member who was hanging on by a thread already, but I finally decided I had to leave when I saw how they disregarded (on multiple occasions) government-mandated safety regulations around COVID-19 and charged all memberships a surprise, mandatory additional $100 fee over the summer in addition to gym membership dues (despite receiving COVID-19 assistance from the government). The NAC is regularly being used as the base for the owner's own political agenda on our dime. Trumps signs are available for pickup, Betsy DeVos recently visited, and charity is only done if it's announced for all to see what role the owner played. One day, they had a big sign outside thanking the owner (at his own gym) for his personal contribution to a noted charity. While Black Lives Matter is a global movement of equality, the NAC quickly started a "Kids Lives Matter" program that is a complete disregard for the Black Lives Matter movement. This is no coincidence. (There is no diversity at the NAC membership, it's 99% white.) Then, there is the random playing of the Kate Smith's "God Bless America" throughout the gym. I love my country, but this is weird. There are some good intentions at the gym, but they fall short. Construction is never-ending, slow, and only increases the membership fees which are far greater than the overall value. I'll never go back. read more

When I went to cancel my membership I was directed to a kiosk. After filling out the kiosk for the date of my cancellation due to moving I thought it was handled per the employee. Two months later and I'm still being charged my due. After contacting the billing team I was told the kiosk isn't the way to cancel a membership. No money being refunded for their employee giving poor directions. read more

Some folks seem to have been drinking together last week and for some strange reason believe my review of the NAC is political. Receiving the same 'compliment' from angry people is always entertaining. Rereading my reviews I don't understand the criticism, since I carefully avoid any political bias in my reviews. However since folks decided to reach out allow me to clarify: If you read them carefully you will find a simple trend. I love businesses that do something well and set out to serve their customers. I dislike businesses that tty to do too much and consequently do things poorly, especially at a premium price. I also never give a 1 star review based on a single visit and always rely on my own observations. So to clarify and simplify my review of the NAC: - it tries to be many things. Social club, gym, yoga studio, gun show, water park. It's doesn't excel at any of them, there are better examples of each nearby. - some of the people are not very nice - it is really expensive for what it is, like really expensive. Transcend is by far, and I mean far, the best gym in Newtown for Gym Rats. It has the best equipment laid out in a logical way with outdoor facilities to mix up your HIIT routines. It's clean, spotless, and the staff know their stuff. It has universal 5 star reviews. It describes its facilities and mission, not what it hopes people say about it. That's what world class looks like. - service is bad, uninspired and the staff seemed untrained. They try hard, they just don't know what good should look like - like many things that are a little strange, it makes extravagant claims about its own excellence. Known as the 'neighborhood oasis'? By whom? 'Top lifestyle club and health and wellness center globally'? By whom? Who even talks like that? Another give-away for businesses like this are reviews by family and friends that make silly claims - this is the only gym in the world I look forward to going to? We'll probably true if it's the only gym in the world you have ever been to. However if you travel the world and go to gyms it would be strange to be so excited. As noted above Transcend is a better gym just a few miles away. LA Fitness and Planet Fitness in Langhorne are as good. Sesame place has better pools. The Union League is a better social club and I'm sorry but the NAC is not a resort, it's a club. Hopefully that clarifies the 1 star review read more

I've been to several gyms over the years, but this is the only one in the US that I've actually looked forward to going to. They really know how to find ways to motivate members and this gym seems to do all it can to improve the quality of the experience for their members. I've seen a lot of reviews on here lately from people that I doubt are even members, coming on with the sole purpose of political divide. It's nonsense. This gym is friendly, accepting to all, and a pleasure to go to. It's the only gym I've been to where I've yet to encounter true snobs or obnoxious jocks, and I've been a member for over a year. Granted, I haven't been looking for a them. The price is a bit high, but it's easy to see where that money is going as they are constantly investing in the improvement of the place. A male employee walked into the women's locker room while myself and other women were getting dressed, with no verbal warning or announcement of him entering. I reported in the the front desk, but "management was unavailable". I left my contact information for someone to call me....I never got a call or an apology. I was also told during my initial walk through that they would have hot yoga, which was my priority for signing up. The staff told me that the new Barre classroom was going to be the hot yoga studio...that was false. Almost a year into my membership, I asked again if they were going to have hot yoga, when I was told that it was not on their priority for 2023-24, I ended my membership. This gym prioritizes their outdoor pool parties and adult only bar over making sure their members are safe and being told the truth. read more

I almost didn't go because of the negative reviews but this place is amazing. The instructors are great, everyone is so positive and outgoing, there are a ton of classes and the kids love daycare and the activities. They are constantly updating the facilities and equipment and the pool alone is worth the membership. I realized that most of the negative reviews were because of the owners politics. The best part is if someone is the type if person that won't go to an establishment because of the way someone votes it filters a lot of the negative petty people from the clientele. Kind of crazy that this place only has a 3-star rating. This is by far the nicest gym not only in the area but one of the top facilities in the country. Then add the Pool, restaurant, and bar area which makes it even a better place. After reading most of the 1-star reviews you will see they actually have nothing to do with the club, just people with different political beliefs or who read a BS magazine article. The NACs facility is absolutely beautiful, and their equipment is updated and very clean. If you are looking for a clean gym with great equipment, the NAC is a good option! From signing up at the NAC, management seems very disjointed. I had an appointment to tour the facility and get my membership set up. I notified the front desk upon arrival, and waited 20 minutes after my appointment time for the sales person to greet me. After signing up for a membership, I never received a key card, and had to email the NAC multiple times about the complimentary personal training session (which the trainer ended up cancelling last minute, as she was going to be out of town). The facilities are beautiful, but the NAC doesn't have experienced trainers to match. Yoga, HIT and Pilates classes vary incredibly from teacher to teacher, and are nowhere near the quality you would get from an independent studio. If you are looking to replace a studio with the NAC studio offerings, I would not recommend a NAC membership. Since I was specifically looking to find a place with quality studio offerings, the NAC fell flat. Once again, management was unresponsive, and I had to email them twice to cancel my membership. Of course, by the time they responded to my request, it was a new month, and I was charged for that month's membership fee as well. TL;DR: The NAC is a beautiful space with beautiful equipment. I was excited to attend my friends birthday and swim. However, the NAC decided to move an event to the day of his party and make us all pay to attend his party. On top of the cover charge we had to pay a service fee. On top of their overpriced drinks. The hot tub was jam packed with people and no distance or anything. The amenities are incomparable to any other health club. It's clean and there are always people cleaning. The possible infection rate at a gym is .000002%. You're more likely to get Covid at Walmart or target. There's enough bad press out their about the owner that no one deserves and it's not fair. Enjoy the great amenities and move on with life. It's a great place and worth every penny. Plus the military/police discount is fantastic as well. No one treats the armed forces better! Plus the new women's locker room is to die for ! read more

Sales staff and counter help are rude and dismissive and are not willing to be accommodating at all. I travel a great deal and didn't want to be locked into a multi-year standard package. When asked what options they offered, the membership desk representative said, "Our club is already at capacity; we don't need to offer anyone any options." OK, enough said. I completely agree with the review that said there is no customer service. But glad I found out before I signed up! As I left, couldn't help but notice that the entire front of the parking lot is reserved for families with children. This is not likely the place if you are an adult and just want a good workout. The NAC is always updating their equipment and renovating. The membership is pricy especially the family membership but I do like the charm. They say hi and bye to you when entering and leaving. The NAC is the Rolex standard of all gymnasiums ! Over the last half a decade or so the NAC has pushed its limits and grew to a size and stature that no one could have predicted. They've expanded most of their original departments and have even taken the liberty to build an entire outdoor water park ! Mixed review: Pro's: 1. Variety of classes that come with the membership at all hours of the day 2. Childcare is great, my son was 6 weeks old when he first went and he loves seeing the girls there every day! Always has a big smile and they all know him by name and always say how big he's getting. 3. The pools and outdoor areas are amazing 4. There is always someone cleaning the bathroom and locker rooms, never dirty. 5. Great food and smoothies! Cons: 1. The equipment needs servicing. Benches are loose, Smith machine needs greasing, etc. 2. There are kids EVERYWHERE. I'm not sure if parents just don't feel like putting them I. The child care but just the other day I had a kid trying to climb up on the stair master I was using. I see kids climbing on machines and weights constantly. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen and there should be employees controlling these situations. 3. The parking lot. My son is 5 months old and in his car seat still which gets heavy. They give us a pass to park closer which is amazing. However, I see people without kids with them parking there's consistently. There should be more watch over this situation. read more
