I have decided to skip the discount and post my review as I feel taking the discount is being paid to keep quiet and not complain. I would rather keep my integrity intact by being honest about my experience so others don't make my mistake. I hesitated to write this review as the person who did our repairs is a friend of the family (was). However, the prices quoted were exorbitant for what was done. All we requested was flappers to be replaced in two older toilets that were taking longer to fill when flushed. We also had a kitchen spray faucet that when shut off wouldn't stop spraying. Because it was under warranty, Moen had sent us a new one, but we needed it installed. Because my husband had recent surgery he couldn't get under the sink to attach and wasn't able to do the toilet repairs. As mentioned, we used a plumber we had used for years, however with a different company, and had no previous issues with service or prices. We were given three options. The first was to replace all three toilets in the home (even though we only needed two fixed). The quote for three installed toilets was over $4,000. To replace the spray faucet we were quoted over $600.00.....we already had the replacement spray attachment so we didn't need a new faucet, just the spray attachment connected. When I questioned it, we were told to soak the old one in vinegar and see if that helped stop the spraying.The other option for the toilets was to repair them and that was to put in a new valve, flapper and supply hose. To do the first one was $477, to do the second, even though identical, was $385.00. The last option was to pay the service fee and do nothing. I should have taken that option but it's hard to say no to a family friend. In retrospect this family friend had no problem in overcharging.....it's a business. The repairs took a half hour....45 minutes tops and our bill was $959.00 for the two toilets including tax and service dispatch. I don't understand why two identical repairs (supply and install fill valve, flapper and supply hose) are charged $477 for one and $385 for the other. This company was on our agenda to contact for a new furnace and water heater this summer but no longer. I also no longer feel comfortable dealing with this company after today's exchange with the owner. He continued to repeat was that we are paying for trained and qualified staff. When I asked him to give a breakdown on the hourly rate and cost of supplies, he told me that they don't do that. That means there is no transparency. As the conversation continued, he became fairly nasty and belligerent and questioned MY integrity in posting the review. I have done many reviews on companies before and this is the first one star and bad review I have ever given.They say "buyer beware" for a reason. In the meantime, we still have a faucet where we can't use the spray part, but that's better than spending $600 to attach it. I've learned my lesson the hard way and had a sleepless night trying to decide whether to accept any kind of discount and keep quiet or tell it like it is. Even with a $250 discount a $700 bill for parts and labour is over the top for supplying and replacing a valve line, flapper and supply hose for two toilets. While I thought about whether or not to accept the discount, I contacted three other 5 star plumbing companies and asked if they could give me a ballpark quote for the exact same service we had received and copied what had been done from our invoice. I heard back from two of them quite quickly. One gave me a ballpark of $400-450 including a service fee for coming out. The other quoted me $562.50 (breaking down parts and labour), including the service fee. These were more in line with what I had expected yesterday and I wish I had contacted them first. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company. There were a few other issues that happened that I have not mentioned at this point, but have run out of room :-(

Well to say the least we are very unhappy. We take a significant amount of pride in our home, and the dry wall/mudding was only just passable. They damaged our hardwood floor when pulling the fridge out, even though we specifically asked the plumber to use caution to protect the floor as we would not be happy if damage occurred. We offered a hard board to protect the floors that we specifically have for when the fridge needs to be pulled out and he declined using it. The Poly B Guys have refused to take any accountability for the damage, stating it was there before the job started. Even though the Poly B contractor that rolled out all the floor protection the day before never noticed any damage. The plumber never mentioned it when he called at the end of the day. Believe me, I wash my floor by hand often enough to know pretty much where every dent is, I would know if there were 4 deep dented tracks in front of my fridge. We noted this damage the day the floor covering was removed, which was a Friday afternoon. We made 3 calls to Poly B Guys to 3 different numbers immediately and received no calls back, ever. Not hearing anything back we sent an email on Monday evening expressing our concerns about the damage and our concern about poor communication including as to when they were coming. FYI, you need to check their Job Tread(JT) to get updates. We repeatedly asked for text messages or calls and this only occurred one day with the plumber. An example of the poor communication was on the third day into the project we were told they would arrive between 7-12 am, they were a no show and no call. On JT they updated that they would now arrive 2-4 PM, no show; at 5 PM they updated the JT that they would now be arriving 6-8 pm, still a no show; and never any calls. We waited 2 days with no update on the JT before we messaged on the JT to request an update. The update on the JT was posted after 11 PM, "still waiting on materials". Communication between the trades was poor as well. We felt we were managing our own project. After the calls on the Friday and the email on Monday, we called the office on Tuesday morning for a reply to our concerns. We were told to check the JT. Seriously; no one could take the time to call us back?! We checked the JT, they agreed project communication was not great, and they will not accept accountability for the damage to our hardwood and closed with they expect payment in full within 7 days. In summary the job was only 3 days behind schedule; but at the end of the day, it will end up costing us at least 50% on top of the original project quote to repair the damaged floor.

Dave, the owner and plumber quoted me $500.00 for labor. So Dave and his fellow showed up early morning on April 24 and replaced the parts, some points to note: 1- Although they claimed to be Rinnai trained, they did not know that burner box cannot be pulled without removing the top plate, tried wise grip pliers and deformed the collars of burner box. 2- When putting back the flame burner, they stripped one of the screws, now one of the screw is loose, still claimed that it is safe to operate the unit 3- Charged me $100.00 extra claiming the unit was rusty, unit is only 6 years old and as a Rinnai trained plumber he should know that all water appliances do get some rust. Nothing needed to be cut or drilled. 4- Gave verbal labor warranty, no written labor warranty. I had to use this company as Rinnai would only send parts to their "trained" technicians. Arpi's Industries and Romcan heating are two other Rinnai sale/service outlets in Calgary, don't know about their "trained" professionals".

We were flipping our entire house around up and down, so this meant all new duct work and new furnace room location, plus going from two furnaces and two hot water tanks to one of each. Breck came over and consulted, unlike the other big names he was very experienced on all parts of the project, furnaces, hot water, ducting, venting, gas and plumbing. Over a few phone calls and diagrams, we were confident Breck was the right choice for the project. Breck and a crew of two completed the project in a little over 4 days, all plumbing and venting was run neatly, all the duct work was planned and positioned perfectly for heating but also to fit the basement plan with minimal bulk heads. They told me I needed a new furnace right away, and it would cost over 5000$. My father referred me to Breck at Hunter's Heating, so I gave them a call for a second opinion. Breck was very helpful on the phone and sent someone out the next morning to look at our furnace. Kurtis was extremely friendly and took the time to explain to me what was going on in detail. Turn out we had a furnace that had been recalled in the states and we needed to have it replaced. He took some measurements for a new furnace, told us he would send me a quote, and advised me to go get CO2 detectors just in case. I am grateful for his advice because the moment I set the detectors up, they started going off. Turns out the furnace was emitting high levels of CO2 and we were told we would have been seriously ill in the morning if we had not called the firefighters and ATCO. The next morning, we contacted Hunter's Heating again and they made time to fit us in for a new furnace the next day. Again, they took the time to explain their work, put mats down to protect our hardwood flooring, and even took the time to mount the CO2 detectors while they were here. They did incredible work, and the quote was a lot lower than the first company. I want to thank Breck and Kurtis for all their help and I will be recommending them to all my friends and family.

The guy replaced the cartridges and handles on 2 showers with the same type of handle and charged $800 for it. I know for a fact the hardware was maybe $200 total. I have asked for a detailed reciept, but have yet to see one. The technician had to leave 2 different times to get parts - he should have had stuff ready after he first went to get supplies. He also left a mess that had to be cleaned up with more than just a paper towel. Would not recommend these guys. Will change my review once I receive a receipt showing how this job cost $800.00

Called about a leak in the ceiling of our bathroom. I had already cut our drywall and saw where…read moreleak was. The person they sent was incompetent. Spent time flushing toilets upstairs trying to find out where the leak was. Then, he cut out almost all the ceiling in the bathroom. I asked why the bill was so high and he said he had to "troubleshoot" the location of the leak. Not a good experience RUN AWAY FROM THEM.
