There were 2 simultaneous services to choose from, so we picked the "Lift" service since it's contemporary. We went in and it was so dark we couldn't find a seat, and there was no one there to help us. Plus the music was so loud, we couldn't stand it. We went to the traditional service instead. The pastor was very good, although slightly over dramatic. Our main problem was that a few days later, we got a visit at home during supper from someone from the church that got our name and address off the "required" sign-in sheet for the kids to go to daycare. We didn't fill out any cards in the worship service telling anyone to come visit us. They really lifted our names and addresses from the kids sign-in sheet. I still can't believe they did that.

However, the USHERS/VOLUNTEERS give you an entirely different experience than what is being preached about. They will speak loudly during the sermon, try to carry on a conversation with you during the sermon, compare what the minister did/said during his 8:00 versus his 11:15 sermons, distract you, make you give up your chair for people who arrive more than an hour late for service (when you are deep into the message and are in need of it) then make you seem like you are the problem, etc. There is a disconnect. I've noticed this problem when there is a Black manager in charge of people who don't take him or their jobs seriously. They sabotage him.

The messages from God's word is always helping to feed our spirits in a way we can understand and apply to our daily lives.
