If you enjoy golf this is not the course for you. This is course is all about turning as many rounds as possible per day and not putting any time or resources back into the property. They have no problem stacking groups of 8 in front of people.... This is a course you go to and witness drunk people fall out of carts and openly use the bunkers as a bathroom.

I drive 2 1/2 hours each way to visit him from Chicago. I have spent thousands of dollars on my golfing education over the years, including lessons from a couple of prominent Golf Digest Top 50 instructors. Nobody has helped me understand the golf swing more than Mark has. Furthermore, he is able to quickly and accurately diagnose your fatal swing flaws and help you groove your new move. My swing improves with each visit. Mark also has the ideal teaching temperament: Patient, insightful, and always positive. His rates are also very reasonable for the quality of instruction. If your new to the game, spend a little time at Mark Hamilton Golf. Your learning curve will be much steeper than mine was and you'll save a lot of time and aggravation. Trust me. just now NEW…read more The course is great. What was the opposite of great was the general manager Bob Bales. He accused my boys and two of their friends of leaving scuff marks on a green. As a result, banned them from golfing there ever again. On top of that, he notified the youth on course director and she has notified other courses in the area with our kids names attached. As a parent I was obviously concerned. It turns out nobody actually saw them do it and it could have been any number of players on the course. At worst, this could have been a lesson for the boys along with a warning. (They claim they did nothing) This course manager does not support youth in the game and I hope you support the kids by choosing another course to play.

We started hole 10 and then were sent back to the clubhouse. Apparently '18 holes' actually meant 9 holes for each person. So instead of understanding we weren't trying to steal his precious time, he yelled at us even after paying for the second nine holes we never played. We packed up our clubs. Will not be back, will not forget, and will never recommend this course. Completely unprofessional and crass.

It's nice you can tee off at three different courses (27 holes) so there's rarely a delay in teeing off. If you call ahead they will tell you whether there an 'outing' ahead of you, or not. Haven't golfed there too many times but the older guy behind the counter is semi-friendly and decent to deal with. The younger guy is surly and acts like he's doing you a favor by letting you PAY to play his golf course. He might be the old guys son. That aside Hickory Ridge is convenient, low cost, and still challenges the average golfer.

Staff does it all- teaching, troubleshooting, lessons, making food, and serving drinks, so keep that in mind. They offer leagues all year round and they are so much fun and a great way to meet fellow golfers. I would say prices are competitive with outdoor golfing and it's great for groups. Play options include stroke play, scramble, best ball, and tournaments. Larger groups should expect that they won't finish 18 especially if everyone is playing their own ball.
