We had a great experience with Next Solar. We wanted to install solar panels and a home battery before the end of 2025, so we could get the rebates that were expiring at the end of the year. It was a very busy time to look for solar installers. Many of them could not commit to completing the work in time, and my impression was that some of them were taking advantage of the pressure and raising the prices. But Next Solar were super nice, not pushy, reasonably priced, and were confident in their timeline, which they pulled off remarkably. Our experience was excellent! We have a metal roof so we had to do a lot of searching to find someone that could install on it. The installers did a great job installing our 6.7kw system + powerwall + charger. It has been awesome seeing our electric bill go from $350+ down to about $30. The price was good too. At this current rate we expect the system to pay for itself within about 5 years or less. Getting a quote was straight forward. To give an idea of timeline we signed paperwork at the end of Sept of 2025 (there were a lot of people trying to get panels before the end of the year). The panels were installed early Feb 2026. Inspection took place in March. We are very happy with our experience and have already recommended Next Solar to family members that are now interested after seeing ours. read more

It's about about 1 year since I went with Next Solar for my Solar needs. After speaking to Dosie @ Next Solar and a few other solar providers, I decided to go with Next Solar as their quote was one of the best and I liked that Dosie was not pushy. After I signed the contract, they had someone out to do the in person consultation pretty quick. The in person consultation was smooth and efficient. They hopped on the roof and took some photos and that was it. Within a week or two, they had a crew come out with everything to do the install. Install was done in a day and that was impressive. What happened next was really the fault of the CITY OF SF, as they just love to hire people with no brain cells... a story for another day. I had to do some leg work between the city approving the permit/plan and Next Solar as the city was dragging their feet. Once the city finally approved, it was then PG&E to do their approval, which took another 2 weeks. All in all, Next Solar did their party quick and efficiently but the City permit is what took the longest. It was about 3.5-4 months from beginning to end and since then, the system has been working great with no issues. If I was to do it all over again, I would not hesitate to go with Next Solar again especially after learning that the big guys such as Tesla, Sunrun, Sunpower, etc sometimes use Next Solar as a subcontractor and charge more so they get a piece of the pie. I had signed the contract exactly before NEM 2 deadline. Luis helped me with the initial system configuration and capacity. He has answered any questions I had. Once the panels were installed, inspection and PTO from pge were completed in the next 2-3 days. So the install to PTO took less than a week. That was super quick and through out the install and PTO process, Luis and Alex were really helpful to answer any questions I had. Overall liked their customer service based on whatever I have worked with them so far. read more

My biggest concern with getting solar installed was that I would have bad installers. It's all you ever read about when you're researching this kind of project, because the panel and inverter offerings are largely the same across most companies. I took a gamble on Next Solar after reading a few reviews and having a preliminary conversation with them. Dosie King was my first point of contact, and my conversation with him felt much more authentic than the other companies I talked to. No, I didn't get the most polished google slide deck, I just got someone who was able to answer all of the questions I had about the equipment, the process, etc. Someone who was wiling to work with me on price, and gave me a very competitive price. Dosie told me that if I signed the contract in August that I would have the panels installed by September, because they were sitting in the warehouse. That seemed like a pretty crazy commitment to me, because all of the other companies I was talking to were pressuring me to sign right away, so that I could install before the end of the year, to get ahead of NEM 3.0. So I signed my contract and wanted to know what was next. Luis, the project manager was on site at my house 2 days later doing a site inspection for the roof. He answered more questions that I had, including conversations about how to route the conduit for the best aesthetic look. The permitting process took a few weeks, but Luis was super responsive throughout the whole thing. I'm talking email responses in like 30 minutes. Calling the city for updates, etc. Fast forward to the install, I was concerned because it was peak heatwave and these guys were going to be on my roof all day. I offered to move the date around so that they wouldn't be so miserable, but they insisted it was ok. The crew spent all day on the install, diligently photographing every single inverter and panel that was installed. Christian, the electrician, was also great to work with. He kept me updated throughout the day on the progress, helped me sort out the final payments, and he was just good to talk to. After the panels were installed we actually had some rain, and *knock on wood* I wasn't able to find any leaks going through the roof. Luis helped me work with PGE to the panels activated remotely, and here I am less than 6 weeks after the contract was signed, generating power. Can't say enough about my great experience with Next. Dosie, Luis and crew we're engaging, communicative and collaborative every step of the way. One of my main concerns was dealing with the San Francisco/PG&E permitting process, which tends to be lengthy, bureaucratic, and painful. They had my install done within a month of signing the contract, and SF signed off 3 days after the install! It only took another week for PGE and I was producing energy into the grid. I was referred to Next Solar from the SunPower website though ultimately ended up going with LG panels for my large electric needs with an EV. Dosie was a great point of contact to answer my many questions because I didn't know much about solar to begin with. I did about 3 video calls with him and he ended up sending over about 5 different proposals to deal with my rapidly changing tastes. They got me set up with a financed loan at 0.99% over 10 yrs such that the monthly payments were lower than my electricity bill. It was a no brainer. The panels went up all in one day and now I love checking the Enphase output each day to see how much energy I'm creating! No issues with the install. I think NextSolar was a bit more expensive than other options but frankly I didn't want someone fucking up my roof or scamming me on materials so I was happy to go with the company that SunPower recommended, which says a lot. Huge shout-out to Daniel who convinced me to invest in in-wall insulation rather than a far more expensive HVAC or solar system, which is what I originally wanted! (My home was built in the 50s.) At first was a little skeptical of how much in-wall insulation could make the difference, but now I'm so glad that I listened to Daniel. My electricity/gas usage went down significantly, and overall the home feels far more comfortable. Amazingly, none of the other HVAC installers (including those with 5 stars on Yelp) mentioned in-wall insulation, perhaps because it's a far more inexpensive and simpler job. Now that the project is done (completely new roof on my Craftsman home, skylight and solatubes, 21 solar panels, PGE interconnection, online monitoring, new breaker box), the terrific financing is in place, and nearly everything is working well, I look back and am fairly happy I went with NextSolar. However, there were a handful of problems along the way. -- The original salesman Sean was very friendly and available to me throughout the project. I am extremely pleased that there were no problems (change orders or etc) with the contract. He found me great financing with AllianceNRG. However, there was no site manager. With one 10-minute exception, no one from the company ever came to my house, eg to oversee the sub-contractors or inspect their work. They took the subs' word that their jobs were completed adequately. Thus all the evaluation and critical appraisal fell on me as the homeowner. -- I went with NextSolar mainly because they had a roofing subcontractor ready to start work, thus saving me the trouble and the delay of finding a separate roofer, and ending up with two separate financing deals. I'm not sure that was a good decision. Even though I had done tons of research on roofs and roofing materials, I still didn't realize how many details there are in building a roof, each of which can be overlooked or done badly. What I possibly should have done is found an actual roofer, spent the time to walk around (and on) the house, and discuss every detail in advance before signing a roofing contract. Then when the roof was finished, take a deep breath, and start in on the solar project. -- As it turned out, NextSolar's roofing subcontractor was arrogant and uncooperative at times. I am grateful that the basic roof and the roofers' parts of the skylights are good, and they used the nice high-efficiency materials I requested. But many of the contracted and not-specifically-contracted extras eg gutters, cricket, and soffits were done badly. NextSolar ended up writing me a check so I can find someone else to finish the work. -- NextSolar's finish-work subcontractor did a terrible job finishing a skylight. -- The NextSolar engineer who drew the original solar panel diagram used outmoded software (by his own admission), so the roof design was substantially wrong. They did not ask me to review it, as other solar companies had done as a part of their bid. When I finally did see the diagram, I tried to warn NextSolar of the problems, but they didn't listen. As a result, part of the solar project had to be done over again, which left unsightly marks on my new roof, and resulted in some oddly-placed panels. And they never did create a correct diagram of where the panels are on my roof, so the otherwise-cool online solar panel monitoring feature is missing that element. -- NextSolar's solar / electrical subcontractor did the best work he could, given the chaos. He also had a hard time with the City inspectors, which was not NextSolar's fault (as far as I can tell), but it added to the delays and frustration. So all in all, maybe just growing pains. read more

I did a lot of research before starting my solar installation. Even then, I had multiple issues, including the original contractor doing a miserable job and abandoning the work altogether. So lesson learned. No matter how much research we do, there are too many unscrupulous people out there. I had checked the license number business thru BBB, and still had issues. After spending months trying to get the system up again, NextSolar was the only company willing to rescue my project, and Alex, the owner, was very sympathetic to my plight. He sent me someone to fix the problem as soon as he could schedule me, and not only that, but he also sent them again to take the whole system apart and redo the job start to finish, fixing all the problems that the previous contractor had created. My system is large. 32 panels total, and they look amazing after the install. Everything is cleanly done, with the pipes hidden under the panels unlike what other companies do and place them in plain sight. Everything looks professionally done and the crew he sent was very knowledgeable and friendly. My system is now up and running, and the inspection passed without a hiccup, and PGE hookup went smoothly. I would recommend NextSolar to anyone shopping for an honest company that will do the job correctly and not take you to the cleaners. read more

Contacted Next Solar through a family friend, and honestly can say these people are very fair and honest. The owner Crystal is very competitive with their pricing, and came under all the other quotes I received. This is a small company so of course they don't have a ton of employees and fancy software with CRM tools to wow you with a crazy cost savings proposals. However, I can tell you the difference between going with this company than another larger company like Solar City/Tesla or Peterson Dean. 1. I communicated directly with the owner. Was able to text and call to their cell phone, updating me throughout the process. 2. I received the engineering design layout prior to them pulling the permit which they asked if I was happy with the layout. 3. The install (30 panels) started on a Monday and they finished the same day. Tuesday, the inspector came and the project passed. The same day I received the PG&E application to connect my system to the grid. By Friday my system was approved to be connected to the grid, to start receiving credits. By the way I only had signed the install contract the week before on a Monday, so my 30 panel system was connected within 14 days. My neighbor signed up with another company a month before and my system was up and connected before he even got his panels installed. 4. Fast forward to 6 months after getting installed, we changed internet providers and my monitoring system wasn't connecting so I can view the performance of the panels. I sent a text to the owner, she put me in the schedule and 2 days later we are back up and running. They didn't even charge us. When we insisted on how much to give at least the gas money- they said to just write a nice review when I get a chance, so here it is. Honestly I didn't even think they would respond to help connect the internet connection back again. If you want to get a good price, clean work, and someone to really warranty their workmanship work with this company. read more

I learned about Next Solar by receiving a flyer and some info about a PACE program.I had not done a ton of research, but I called and the company and made an appointment to have the sales rep come over and explain everything to me. I eventually agreed to the contract, and overall I had pretty good service from this company, although one of the contractors who came over to look at the attic was so rude I had to ask him to leave the house. Otherwise, all the parties were professional and helpful, including the sales rep who took my numerous calls and answered lots of questions. The owner of the company also made himself available to contact him directly when I had questions about the contract. Overall, I was pleased with the panels and the work done on the installation. The installation was quick- it took one day to install 12 solar panels with the 12 micro-inverters. The entire job was completed, inspected, and interconnection happened well before the anticipated work schedule stipulated in the contract. read more

Customer service, installation is bad, really BAD. norma and noash in FL will tell you a million misleading comments just to get your money and never deliver. Who trained this lead guy diogenes? He was not truthful to me inside my home and the material delivered was a inferior panels. How can this be "ACTING IN GOOD FAITH" when its a lie from day one?
