Hello everyone, I had a great experience with Solar Sesame. I had my system installed in December 2025 and wanted to wait a bit to see how SS and GoodLeap handle follow-up on the project, Closeout issues, and customer service follow-up. Since my December 2025 installation and the January 2026 activation with PG&E, I have been more than happy with their service. I had put off getting solar for a while (bad decision on my part), so when the $1,100 PG&E bill came in last summer, I knew it was time for a change. Solar Sesame's pricing consultation was pleasant and informative. I had done plenty of research, so I knew my stuff, and being in Construction helped as well. Both their Sales Rep and Installation Lead were informed and knew their stuff. My Project Submittal documents to the City of Danville were professionally done. The building permit was obtained quickly, and the installation was completed within a few days. We did have an initial hiccup with the materials delivery; it arrived too early, but SS had it picked up and redelivered the following week. I see that SolarSesame responded to my previous review. I wanted to highlight the lies in their response: 1. We have not agreed on a solution. SolarSesame was supposed to schedule the final PG&E inspection in March. They never bothered to try. I ended up having to schedule that myself because SolarSesame wouldn't. It took over 8 hours on the phone with PG&E to get access. 2. It is now 8 months later and the project is NOTin the final stage of the process. PG&E was here today, because I called to schedule the inspections that were SolarSesame's responsibility. PG&E indicated that the system would likely be failed and that more work would be required. 3. I had to demand that SolarSesame and GoodLeap stop calling me because they lied constantly. All communication is now via email so that I can have record of their constant lies and failures. 4. I have holes in my home's exterior because equipment has been moved countless times. I'm in the process of getting quotes to repair the damage to my home's exterior. read more

I desperately needed a roof on my house before the rainy season started. I also wanted to get solar because it was clear that energy prices are going to continue to rise and solar is the smart way to go in this climate. I also replaced my gas furnace with a heat pump, so our electric needs are significant. A new roof with complete tear off and new plywood is a big project. I started by getting a quote from Solar City but they weren't able to coordinate with a roofer. Their leasing agreement (aka PPA) also had some provisions that seemed pretty predatory. I don't remember if Solar Sesame cold called me or I called them, but I do remember that Marcel did a great job of explaining the process. I'm pretty knowledgeable about these kind of projects so I asked somre very detailed questions. When he wasn't able to answer them immediately, he didn't front, he just said he didn't know and called the office for better info. That's the best response. I was a little concerned that Solar Sesame used an outsourced the roofing to a vendor. But given the time constraints, that was a good decision. Also, the vendor they chose, Arts Roofing, was a joy to work with. They communicated well, and when there was a small problem, they handled it professionally and entirely to my satisfaction. The solar panels went up super fast and well. They system was generating power the as soon as the installers were done. Unfortunately, PGE took their sweet time getting the final inspection done. So PGE got some free kwh from the system. On the good side, we didn't start paying for the system until after PGE did the final turn on, so no problem for us. I monitor the system via the PGE site as well as the Tesla app. Those two systems match up perfectly so I am happy with the amount of power being created and sold back to PGE. Also, we had a short power outage in our neighborhood, and it didn't impact us at all. The only reason I knew about it was that PGE alerted us via text. I looked out my window and noticed that none of my neighbors had their lights on. Nowhere in his response did he address my comments that my initial appointment was with a junior sales rep with minimal knowledge and experience with roof repairs. This sales rep had to call his supervisor to get answers to my questions. Again, if I wanted someone who was knowledgeable about roofing, I had to wait for a someone else to come to my house and inspect my roof. The initial appointment was a complete waste of time. UPDATE: SolarSesame continues to disappoint. It is clear now that I was defrauded by Marcel Hooks. Not only did he sell me a wholly inadequate system that does not meet the needs of our home and EV but he promised me 3 months of free payments for 3 references that met with him in person and $1000 for every referral that converted. He met with my referrals and I have not received the 3 months of free payments. I am glad that my referrals didn't move forward since they would also be paying twice the amount of money every month with no savings or proper customer service. Project (panels & batteries) is still in process but I've had a negative experience after the fast sales pitch. I was misled. The sales person assured me they do everything in-house but the guys that did the installation were subcontractors from a few hours away, which probably contribute to poor communication and installation that is not familiar with local code. Their communication and organization within the company and with the client are poor. Some issues: Ie: they told me an inspection was scheduled for x date a couple times. I happened to check the city web site and realized the date Solar Sesame gave me was different. I had to re-confirm with them. No idea if they just gave me the wrong date on accident or if they had the date recorded completely wrong on their end too. Ie: they no-show They were scheduled to come between 8-830am in anticipation of a city inspection. At 945am I ask them where the team is and the project manager says she'll get back to me. Mind you, I didn't know what time frame the inspection was so I thought maybe it wasn't until the afternoon. No word so I call at 1115am asking for an ETA, PM says team is already there. Team is not here. PM again says she'll get back to me but informs me the city inspection window is 10-12pm. Inspector comes and goes with no inspection. Solar Sesame's excuse changes to claim they had an emergency. I told them for hours their team wasn't there and they were clueless and took no action. Them missing the city inspection puts back the project a couple more weeks. So many times, they say they'll get back to me but it's just me following up with them bc they don't call back when they say they will. Ie: their subcontractor came with no notice to make corrections. When I called Solar Sesame, they didn't even know the subcontractor was there. What kind of business no shows AND shows up without notice. Ie: they've failed the initial inspection 3 times for different reasons. They blame the city for tough code that causes delays bc Solar Sesame fails. Their company is based in the Bay Area. I live in San Jose, I can't be the first SJ customer they've had but their utter lack of basic SJ code would suggest they know nothing about building code here. I'm still pending corrections and a 4th attempt at the initial rough frame inspection. read more

We were able to select the type of panels we wanted and service level. They are also a roofing company so could deal with our unique roof needs situation. Coordinating of details from sales to installation was very good flow back-and-forth from Mei, our project coordinator. We have batteries on site and will sell back to PG&E each month. Today I went to Solar Sesame in Hayward to pay the balance of my solar system. It's scheduled to be delivered and installed on December 29th. As I entered, I was met by approximately 14 individuals. They were right in the middle of a staff meeting. Everyone was professional and very welcoming. I will keep posting pictures of the project. I have 13 panels, 1 tesla battery and a universal car charger being installed. I can't wait for the system to be up and running. If I could give this company zero stars, I absolutely would. DONT BE FOOLED by these people--save your time and energy. In 2025, they promised that if we signed a contract before October 15, they would guarantee a 100% completed solar installation before the end of the year. If they failed to meet that deadline, they said they would provide us with a Tesla Powerwall. I personally spoke with their manager several times, and he guaranteed this agreement. We signed the contract before October 15, 2025. They did the initial inspection right away, but after that, everything started falling apart. They failed to submit the application to MID on time. I had to keep calling and emailing MID myself just to find out what was going on. Each time, MID told me they never received an application for our address. When the application was finally submitted, they only paid $200--despite MID clearly stating the required payment amount. They even suggested that I go to MID myself to make the payment and promised they would reimburse me afterward. By the end of 2025, nothing had been completed. Our solar system was never installed. To make matters worse, they are now refusing to provide the Tesla Powerwall, claiming the delay was "out of their control." They've given multiple different excuses as to why they won't honor their promise. At this point, I am considering speaking with a lawyer regarding this matter. If you want to avoid stress and endless headaches, do NOT go with this company. read more

This review is likely biased. Someone from solar sesame called me claiming that they have some federal funded program to provide free installation. I was looking for solar solution and was open for a consultation. Took a couple of tries, I met with someone from solar sesame. This person showed up wearing solar sesame tshirt. But I don't see a badge or business card or anything from him. So the deal presented to me verbally was that I got free installation and they cover everything for free (funded through federal tax incentive somehow). Instead, I only need to pay monthly bills to them for about $118. The deal was only valid for that very moment. I have no time to think. I was pretty annoyed at that time. This had turned into something not quite right. The person got his mgr on the phone, who claimed him to be a real estate agent also and asked me to stay and spoke to the rep. I had to go after an hour of chat.... and was unwilling to continue the conversation and asked them to send me something in writing and I need time to think. I ended the conversation. I asked some of my friends who got solar panel and they pay $11 per month to PG&E and only need to pay $15 per month to their solar provider. To be fair, they all paid for the upfront investment to get the system setup. I never got anything in paper from the company. I don't know what this is. I was never able to find any reference about this mysterious federal credit or incentive. I also don't know if I am dealing with someone legit... I am tempted to call the police on this... feeling quite unsettling about this. read more

After posting this review, I received a response and service at my residence. While the company still maintains that the incompatible breaker installed was not an issue and didn't pose a safety hazard (although a city inspector, electrician, and Google confirms this) the breaker was replaced. They troubleshot the Tesla battery and said it was due to a firmware update missed on the meter collar. This has yet to be tested and confirmed. The owner and service rep have been condescending (treating me like a hysterical female) and consistent in the lack of accountability and response and are now requesting that I remove my review. I will continue to update as necessary after confirming the theorized issue with the installed battery and once the contractual agreement for my incentives has been completed. read more
