I couldn't be happier with my experience with Solar Sesame. My situation was a little more complicated than most because I already had an existing leased solar system under NEM 2 that I wanted to preserve. Solar Sesame is a brokerage company, they don't install the panels; they work with another company called GoodLeap that installs, maintain and owns the solar panels. There is a 3.59% increase annually to a flat rate fee and a connection fee with the quote. After 25 years of this contract, you can choose to buy the panels (by that time, the panels will be 25 years older), but if you'd like to keep the panels, it'll cost a todays estimate of 900-$1200 to maintain annually. When I did the calculations would $327 monthly for electricity. And even with the panels, there is a $15 connectivity fee to connect to the main grid aka PG&E. So the quote I got is unsustainable for what I'm trying to achieve; which is to be independent from PG&E. Because I used only about $30 of electricity and $15 gas, but have to pay $125 delivery fee from PG&E, and it's just gouging for no reason. And the solar sesame quote I got ended up more expensive in the long run than if I stayed with PG&E. I was referred to an actual government run solar panel installation company through a local state and federal program called Grid Alternatives and is looking forward to a quote from them. was told by a clean energy program that I may be able to get solar panels free of charge and get a electric panel upgrade at no charge if I qualify. After meeting with their rep; they were pressuring me to sign at the meeting. Very aggressive. The solar seasame rep said he has been with the company for 10 years; but solar seasame was established in 2021. Maybe I heard this wrong, but there were a lot of questions unanswered; and a lot of confusion on who and what is getting done. They also use the Tesla battery...which I don't want to support. Hello everyone, I had a great experience with Solar Sesame. I had my system installed in December 2025 and wanted to wait a bit to see how SS and GoodLeap handle follow-up on the project, Closeout issues, and customer service follow-up. Since my December 2025 installation and the January 2026 activation with PG&E, I have been more than happy with their service. I had put off getting solar for a while (bad decision on my part), so when the $1,100 PG&E bill came in last summer, I knew it was time for a change. Solar Sesame's pricing consultation was pleasant and informative. I had done plenty of research, so I knew my stuff, and being in Construction helped as well. Both their Sales Rep and Installation Lead were informed and knew their stuff. My Project Submittal documents to the City of Danville were professionally done. The building permit was obtained quickly, and the installation was completed within a few days. We did have an initial hiccup with the materials delivery; it arrived too early, but SS had it picked up and redelivered the following week. I got panels with them and still waiting to turn on. It's been overall an experience. The sales rep was able to secure us in with the help from his colleagues which is ok.( everyone can use a bit of help at their job if needed) Just talked way too much and wasn't very knowledgeable when I had more questions later after the meeting. They are a broker and have subcontractors come do the work which is fine, but you have to check the work because not everyone values their work. A few things needed fixing and solar sesame did have them come back and make the adjustments(which is great) customer service is good when needed. They lack a bit of organization in the beginning and communicating. I like updates I want to know what's going on and I like things done right the first time and preferably in a timely manner. They can do better on that but they did make up for it when they did address my concern at other times. I would have liked this to go quicker as it's been a month and still my panels aren't on. I was told it would take a couple weeks from the day we start and it's a month but Friday they should turn on. Based off of those big companies and their horrible customer service review I did choose solar sesame because they did have better reviews and it's important to have good customer service. I got a good rate but to each is own to learn to do their homework on what they are buying and how to check what they are offering and what your buying. I desperately needed a roof on my house before the rainy season started. I also wanted to get solar because it was clear that energy prices are going to continue to rise and solar is the smart way to go in this climate. I also replaced my gas furnace with a heat pump, so our electric needs are significant. A new roof with complete tear off and new plywood is a big project. I started by getting a quote from Solar City but they weren't able to coordinate with a roofer. Their leasing agreement (aka PPA) also had some provisions that seemed pretty predatory. I don't remember if Solar Sesame cold called me or I called them, but I do remember that Marcel did a great job of explaining the process. I'm pretty knowledgeable about these kind of projects so I asked somre very detailed questions. When he wasn't able to answer them immediately, he didn't front, he just said he didn't know and called the office for better info. That's the best response. I was a little concerned that Solar Sesame used an outsourced the roofing to a vendor. But given the time constraints, that was a good decision. Also, the vendor they chose, Arts Roofing, was a joy to work with. They communicated well, and when there was a small problem, they handled it professionally and entirely to my satisfaction. The solar panels went up super fast and well. They system was generating power the as soon as the installers were done. Unfortunately, PGE took their sweet time getting the final inspection done. So PGE got some free kwh from the system. On the good side, we didn't start paying for the system until after PGE did the final turn on, so no problem for us. I monitor the system via the PGE site as well as the Tesla app. Those two systems match up perfectly so I am happy with the amount of power being created and sold back to PGE. Also, we had a short power outage in our neighborhood, and it didn't impact us at all. The only reason I knew about it was that PGE alerted us via text. I looked out my window and noticed that none of my neighbors had their lights on. He met with my referrals and I have not received the 3 months of free payments. I am glad that my referrals didn't move forward since they would also be paying twice the amount of money every month with no savings or proper customer service. I see that SolarSesame responded to my previous review. I wanted to highlight the lies in their response: 1. We have not agreed on a solution. SolarSesame was supposed to schedule the final PG&E inspection in March. They never bothered to try. I ended up having to schedule that myself because SolarSesame wouldn't. It took over 8 hours on the phone with PG&E to get access. 2. It is now 8 months later and the project is NOTin the final stage of the process. PG&E was here today, because I called to schedule the inspections that were SolarSesame's responsibility. PG&E indicated that the system would likely be failed and that more work would be required. 3. I had to demand that SolarSesame and GoodLeap stop calling me because they lied constantly. All communication is now via email so that I can have record of their constant lies and failures. 4. I have holes in my home's exterior because equipment has been moved countless times. Project (panels & batteries) is still in process but I've had a negative experience after the fast sales pitch. I was misled. The sales person assured me they do everything in-house but the guys that did the installation were subcontractors from a few hours away, which probably contribute to poor communication and installation that is not familiar with local code. Their communication and organization within the company and with the client are poor. Some issues: Ie: they told me an inspection was scheduled for x date a couple times. I happened to check the city web site and realized the date Solar Sesame gave me was different. I had to re-confirm with them. No idea if they just gave me the wrong date on accident or if they had the date recorded completely wrong on their end too. Ie: they no-show They were scheduled to come between 8-830am in anticipation of a city inspection. At 945am I ask them where the team is and the project manager says she'll get back to me. Mind you, I didn't know what time frame the inspection was so I thought maybe it wasn't until the afternoon. No word so I call at 1115am asking for an ETA, PM says team is already there. Team is not here. PM again says she'll get back to me but informs me the city inspection window is 10-12pm. Inspector comes and goes with no inspection. Solar Sesame's excuse changes to claim they had an emergency. I told them for hours their team wasn't there and they were clueless and took no action. Them missing the city inspection puts back the project a couple more weeks. So many times, they say they'll get back to me but it's just me following up with them bc they don't call back when they say they will. Ie: their subcontractor came with no notice to make corrections. When I called Solar Sesame, they didn't even know the subcontractor was there. What kind of business no shows AND shows up without notice. Ie: they've failed the initial inspection 3 times for different reasons. They blame the city for tough code that causes delays bc Solar Sesame fails. Their company is based in the Bay Area. I live in San Jose, I can't be the first SJ customer they've had but their utter lack of basic SJ code would suggest they know nothing about building code here. I'm still pending corrections and a 4th attempt at the initial rough frame inspection. read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I absolutely would. DONT BE FOOLED by these people--save your time and energy. In 2025, they promised that if we signed a contract before October 15, they would guarantee a 100% completed solar installation before the end of the year. If they failed to meet that deadline, they said they would provide us with a Tesla Powerwall. I personally spoke with their manager several times, and he guaranteed this agreement. We signed the contract before October 15, 2025. They did the initial inspection right away, but after that, everything started falling apart. They failed to submit the application to MID on time. I had to keep calling and emailing MID myself just to find out what was going on. Each time, MID told me they never received an application for our address. When the application was finally submitted, they only paid $200--despite MID clearly stating the required payment amount. They even suggested that I go to MID myself to make the payment and promised they would reimburse me afterward. By the end of 2025, nothing had been completed. Our solar system was never installed. To make matters worse, they are now refusing to provide the Tesla Powerwall, claiming the delay was "out of their control." They've given multiple different excuses as to why they won't honor their promise. At this point, I am considering speaking with a lawyer regarding this matter. If you want to avoid stress and endless headaches, do NOT go with this company. read more
