As someone who has six years of experience working with insurance and medical billing, as well as working in a physician's office, I understand that this is not necessarily an insurance limitation. In many cases, multiple services can be appropriately billed and completed during the same visit, depending on the circumstances. If the decision to separate services is based on the clinic's internal policies or procedures, I completely respect the clinic's right to establish those policies. However, I would strongly encourage staff to communicate this accurately to patients rather than attributing the decision to insurance when that may not be the actual reason. A simple explanation such as, "Per our office policy, we are unable to complete both services during the same visit," would be much more transparent and would prevent patients from receiving potentially misleading information about their insurance coverage. After my appointment, I contacted my insurance company directly to verify the information I had been given. As I suspected, I was informed that both services could be performed during the same visit and that there was no insurance requirement preventing them from being done together. Of course, I understand that individual circumstances and payer policies can vary, but when there is no actual insurance restriction, the distinction between an insurance requirement and an office policy is important. As someone who works in medical billing and insurance, I also understand that there are appropriate billing mechanisms, including modifiers when applicable, that allow providers to bill for multiple medically necessary services performed during the same encounter. For that reason, I believe patients deserve clear and accurate information about whether a limitation is coming from their insurance plan or from the clinic's own policy. Overall, I had a very positive experience with the staff and their professionalism. My concern is specifically with the way the insurance information was communicated. I sincerely hope the clinic will consider being more transparent and precise when explaining billing and insurance-related policies to patients. I tried to go to another local clinic before this one but I was essentially stonewalled by all the red tape that places like these seem to have. I made sure to check the website before calling and still, it claimed they do labs, xrays, etc. I felt ill, loss of appetite, and some other concerning symptoms and if you're traveling (and maybe even as a resident) it can be INCREDIBLY difficult to just get seen by a doctor/primary care provider if you don't happen to have one.... And as I've come to realize, it takes SO LONG! One local clinic (Community Action) has a MONTH long wait just for new patients. And another in corpus won't see any new patients until July!!! She was one of the people I told my symptoms, but after those basic tests she essentially did nothing else but tell me to go to a primary care doctor and take suggested products, like two different over the counter meds and multivitamins. If I had known it was going to be like that, I wouldn't have gone!

Upon arrival, I was met by professional medical staff who brought me a wheelchair as I was stung on the foot. Not only did they treat my wound, but they also comforted me because I was freaking out and in so much pain. I stayed at the urgent care for about 1 hour and left with 90% of my pain gone and detailed instructions on how to take care of my wound. This has been the best medical service I have received in my whole life. Jack and Cody were professional, fast, and comforting. Everyone working there was fantastic. I hope nobody will ever get stung by a sting ray. but if you do, this is the urgent care you should go to for treatment!
