This made me realize that excellent workmanship can easily be found for more reasonable pricing. The starting point for my project was an already gutted space consisting of a former walk-in closet and a large bathroom. The goal was to make the bathroom smaller so the closet area could function as an extra bedroom. For privacy reasons, the new bedroom needed its own entrance and bathroom access, while the master bedroom required a separate bathroom entrance. After an initial consultation, Dan sent Noel to start framing the very next day. Dan did not provide even a simple sketch of the new layout and, as far as I know, did not take measurements. As a result, a framing error was made and I was charged both for the installation and the correction ($1,100/day). After a second faulty doorway was installed in the bathroom--despite my purchasing a tub Dan had recommended and sending him the specifications--I terminated the project. Correcting this error later took my husband three full days. To complete the project, we hired other professionals. For example, we hired a plumber who installed all bathroom fixtures for $2,800 (two plumbers, two days). Based on their estimate of the prior work done by Dan's plumber, the total plumbing cost would have been approximately $3,600. Dan's plumbing estimate was $7,000. We also had to pay $850 to repair and bleed the baseboard heating system after the work done by Dan's plumber. Dan's carpentry estimate also raised concerns: 15 days at $1,100 per day. When I requested a list of full carpentry days, dates when no work was performed were included, such as picking up a check or a quick consultation. If you are working with Dan, I would strongly recommend that you keep a daily log of actual work performed and ask whether short consultation visits are billed. Another frustration was Dan's repeated attempts to convince me that I needed work I had never asked for. Dan and Noel stopped by for a consultation about closets and proposed installing a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. This was surprising, given that I had previously paid them to remove the existing walk-in closet because I disliked it. I reminded them of this and indicated that I planned to purchase IKEA storage instead. Despite repeatedly expressing no interest in closet work, Dan continued suggesting that Noel come build closets. There was no proposal, no agreed scope of work, and no pricing, yet the texts kept coming ("Noel is free tomorrow and can start the closets.").

One of the decks required removal of a flight of stairs and both needed to have the railings reinforced. Working with Gabriel to make this happen was a pleasure! He is very personable and responsible -- in other words, his standards are very high as reflected by the outcome of our decks repair project. Not only did his team do a great job repairing our worn decks, but also they cleaned the work spaces thoroughly each day. Scraping, power washing, priming, caulking, carpentry and repairs as needed, and 2 coats of California paint. The job was done, but in less than 3 years I had significant pealing and cracking on 3 sides of the house. 3 years is past the 2-year guarantee, but the level of failure experienced in such a short time should have been addressed. I brought it to Gabriel's attention and offered to supply the paint and to address the first story issues myself. I just wanted the parts that required 2nd story work to be done with his labor. He agreed, BUT ONLY IF I PAID. I moved on from this supplier. In addition to this, when originally doing the job, he did not address an area where rotting wood should have been replaced. Neglecting the repair at that time resulted in much more advanced damage and required more rework and with it more cost when it was addressed. When I hired Gabriel, the carpentry was on a time and material basis and would not have cost him profit from the paint job. Doing the work would have resulted in more revenue for him. Do not use this supplier. He does not do the work correctly and if it does fail, he does not stand behind his work.

The professionalism started right from the first visit - Manuel came to our home, and rather than pushing expensive ideas and knowledge on us, he kindly informed us of all options, at times even suggesting ways to save money. We have a toddler at time, and had trouble with other sales folks keeping the appointments short and to the point - Manuel was very understanding and helpful. When comparing the quotes, they were the best balance of cost, quality and commitment according to references I checked, and we decided to move forward with them. Throughout the installation, Eddy, Luis and their whole team was very professional. They worked quite fast - we had quotes for 2-3 weeks for project, Power finished it it 5 days, not by cutting corners but by having more people - at times there was a dozen workers there. They cleaned up the surroundings everyday for 45 minutes at end of each day - and when we found a small nail in garden bed, went hunting for them till they got the last one. During the whole project, if I found a small change I wanted, any small imperfection I asked to fix, they got it done. They even corrected small tilts in the building (most houses in new england are not perfect) so it is not noticeable at all. They even painted my door (did not expect, was not on the state of work), and cleaned for hours in the end to make sure no debris is left. I consider myself a little particular about these projects - I found some small imperfections that were only visual in nature months after the project, and asked if they can do something easily. Eddy brought a small crew, and basically redid the whole area to fix it to perfection. I also benefited from their in-house electrician (Mario) who I hired to reroute wiring and get some exterior lightnings and cameras - he was very responsive, reasonable and worked well with the siding crew. Lastly, Danielle in the office is very helpful with scheduling, payments and other support as needed. Siding is a big project. There are going to be some mishaps - any contractor that guarantees that nothing will happen, is lying and will shake off responsibility of fixing things if something happens. Since the beginning, power construction team was clear that they will get the job done, and if something is bothering us, they will fix it. When I noticed that the ladders scratched a couple of boards on the deck, they got a decking crew to replace them with new boards. To me, that is the contractor I want - who will stand behind their work, take responsibility and deliver what they promised with quality and speed. In the end, I believe Power Construction is an excellent contractor for complicated projects and excelled in getting a new siding in our home. We get compliments from all our neighbors, and multiple people have asked for company's info - because one can just look at work and see the effort they put in. Can't recommend them more.
