BUT this review is mainly about the AMAZING Kat! I started seeing her for a prenatal massage, then postnatal and now normally deep tissue. She's done trigger point with me which is when she holds a point and I breath into it as well as pin and stretch technique. Today we did deep release technique- psoas release. She has been influenced by Rolphing and has studied miofascial releasing technique. She specializes in Integrated Therapeutic, Motherhood / prenatal, Thai, Acupressure, East / West, Trigger point and Deep Tissue. I have been to A LOT of spas and seen many massage therapist all over the country / world and she's tied for first place in my book. Got a one hour deep tissue massage which consisted of strong pressure as expected, along with fast movements almost the entire time. My masseuse, Cindy, was working hard with all of the rapid movement, so much that she was out of breath with this unique approach. Some may consider it rough, but my muscles can take a beating so I was fine with it even with a little pain in the process. I particularly enjoyed the leg and foot massage which focused on the outer leg and pressure points on the foot. It was effective for me. The face hole on the massage bed was slightly uncomfortable, and the temperature in the room was a bit cold with the AC running strong on a not-so-hot day, but I hung in there. I liked the music playing in the background, a combination of classical tunes and instrumental renditions of songs like Hallelujah and Ghost by Justin Bieber. Paying at the end via credit card, with a cash tip, was straightforward without any problems.

The business hours posted said they open at 10 AM, so I thought it was odd that I was able to schedule an appointment before opening. After waiting a few minutes, someone let me in. I got into the massage room around 9:58 and then waited another few minutes before the massage started. At that point, I could already tell things were running behind. To be fair, the massage itself was excellent. She did a great job, and I genuinely enjoyed the service. I kept trying not to stress about the time because I had already communicated my schedule and assumed it would be honored. Unfortunately, when the massage ended and I checked the time, it was 11:05 AM. I was now late for my meeting. What made it more frustrating was that I had specifically communicated my timing needs ahead of time. Another thing I found a little unusual was paying for the service upfront. Tipping is done afterward through Venmo, cash, or card. When I told her I would Venmo the tip as soon as I had internet service again (you know how Palo Alto can be), she seemed concerned and appeared to want me to stay until it was completed. Normally that wouldn't be an issue, but I was already running late and had to rush home. Overall, this was a mixed experience. The massage itself was very good, and that is the reason I would consider coming back.
