A concerning cough which her friend expressed concern about didn't seem important to the staff, led to pneumonia and hospitalization. Her overall health (mental and physical) has declined dramatically since admission. Failure to assist in charging her hearing aids (as they were asked) has led to nearly total deafness. I doubt very much if Highland is within legal limits and will be contacting the NY Senior Services agency to request and investigation of the director, protocol and practices. Phone calls are not answered and on the remote chance that someone does answer, it is impossible to speak with a caregiver. Requests for call backs are ignored. Please be very cautious in your choice.
