Excellent bubbly. We bought a bottle ($37.99). Too bad they didn't have their blanc de merlot bottled yet.

Our pourer (Chantal) was very friendly and informative. - 2022 Akina rosé - marechal foch grapes. Rosé was supposed to be dry, didn't taste so. - 2021 Riesling - smooth, velvety texture on the mouth. Not too sweet. Bought a bottle ($28.61) for home. - 2022 The flirty 3 - blend of three whites. Sweetest of the whites we tried. - 2018 Merlot - light on tannins, a touch smoky. - 2020 Cabernet franc - bolder flavour, but more tannins. Still one of my favourite organic wineries.

Meandering off the main road and down their unpaved driveway, you are greeted by vines overlooking the lake and a sprawling outdoor patio with fantastical art on display. The interior tasting room is casual, a vaulted wooden structure with a library of wine bottles on display. We were instantly greeted and given a cozy corner (6 ft+ from other patrons, appreciate their safety precautions!) to enjoy our tasting. Visiting from California, it was fun to try wines typical to the Okanagan. I especially enjoyed how light and nuanced the Merlots are, since CA Merlots tend to leave me feeling punched in the face. We ended up purchasing a 2017 bottle of The Greatest Love of Mal to bring home. It was divine, with a taste that danced between chocolate covered cherries and a subtle licorice finish... I can easily (and did), keep sipping until the bottle disappears!

I don't think those were as good. Highly recommend trying some of the reserves and 'higher tier' wines here. The Foch is unique and I really enjoyed their chardonnay.

Beyond the wine, the winery itself is a stunning architectural gem. The building's unique design, with its aged and seemingly "falling" pieces, gives it the feel of a hidden kingdom or lost city. Inside, the dark walls contrast beautifully with a red-and-gold ceiling, reflecting the intricate bottle designs they've created. A breathtaking 17-foot-high ceiling features a striking piece of artwork, making the whole atmosphere feel so French. I originally stopped by as part of my wine-tasting journey and wasn't planning to try anything here due to a long day. But I decided to go for it, and I'm so glad I did--definitely no regrets! At first, I had a private VIP tasting, but soon after, a wine tour group arrived, making the experience even livelier as I got to drink with new friends. We were four so should have had 16 total tastings to try. Instead, the pourer only let us try 13 out of 14 on the list. Super lame that we didn't get to try the 2014 Eruption. Interestingly, the other half of our group got to try 6 samples each. So I have no idea what was the issue with that guy. Whites - 2016 Bubbly gewurztraminer - 2017 Rose - 2016 Magma white - 2016 Viognier - 2013 Reserve chardonnay - 2016 Lava white blend - this was the only white I liked. A blend of 6 different whites. Reds - 2015 Pinot noir - 2013 Merlot - 2014 Syrah - 2015 Magma red - the only red that was decent. Another blend of 5 reds. Icewines - 2016 Gewurztraminer late harvest - this was incredibly sweet. - 2015 Pinot noir icewine - not sure how but it was even more sweet than the gewurztraminer. - 2014 Riesling icewine - only icewine that was balanced. Nice touch that there's umbrellas for all the tables out in the sun. Tasting fee is $15.00/person but is waived with a bottle purchase. Tasting includes 5 samples but our friendly hostess threw in an extra pour. - 2018 Long road riesling - found this light. Supposed to taste lychee notes but didn't detect any of that. - 2019 Black Swift pinot blanc - a little more full bodied. Tasted like a Granny Smith apple. - 2020 Frenzy rosé - not too sweet. Tastes like strawberry rhubarb and smelled reminiscent of Swedish berries. - 2017 Monarch cab-merlot - this one is aged in oak barrels. Notes of raspberry, smoke and ash at the end. - 2017 Syrah - this one was B's favourite. Good mouth feel, fruity and very smooth. More complex than the 2018. We bought a bottle ($29.99) for home. - 2018 Syrah - tasted a little more fruitier on the palate. Good variety/selection of wines, beautiful scenery and friendly staff. Would come back to BSV.

There are chicken fingers and fries for kids, but not much else for them food-wise. A really pretty, relaxed spot to enjoy some wine, take in the views, and hang out for a while. Definitely worth a stop!
