After being stood up by two other plumbing companies in the area I finally had a good experience with Nichols. I called and they set me up an appointment that wasn't too far out. A few days before the appointment they called to confirm. The day of the appointment they had a cancellation and I received a phone call and they came earlier than the scheduled appointment which was great. They installed us a new hot water baseboard heater. Excellent communication and they did great work. My go to plumber from here on out. read more

I have used Nichols Plumbing over the years several times and all encounters were very positive. In my latest encounter, I had tackled replacing a faulty garbage disposal myself. All went well until I had to connect the discharge tube to the waste pipe. It was an inch off. I called Nichols and they made an appointment for me THE NEXT MORNING. When they came, the work was done very quickly and the amount they charged me was embarrassingly low. read more

Kitchen sink and laundry sink in the basement were clogged and backed up. Called Nichols Plumbing and within 35 minutes the technician was here. Thirty minutes later he was all done, the drains were clear and everything was working again. Great service. I would definitely use them again. read more

Nichols Plumbing is both fast and efficient. I have used them a few times. Most recently I called them after my tenants moved out and messed with my hot water supply. When I called the technician did a FaceTime chat with me and showed me they had turned off the hot water valves. Saving me hundreds in an emergency service call. I needed a back flow valve replacement. I received an estimate on the phone from Nichols based on a similar job that cost $325 and took 3 hours. No one stepped into my home up to this point but I did send a video showing the part and part number that needed to be replaced (back flow valve) as well as the easy access, first floor maintenance room. I agreed to the estimate thinking it would not take 3 hours because of the access and quick change part needed. The technician came. Was here less than an hour. He did have to replace a pressure tank that was unforeseen, so there was an additional fee there, which I understand. When I received a message from Nichols two weeks later, I was told the total fee is $455. I was told at that time when I questioned the price, that mileage/transportation time is charged to the client as well. That was not explained to me initially. This means that even though the tech was at my home for an hour, there is an additional fee for the time getting to my home from the last job he was at??!! This is price gouging at its finest. Not even sure how that is legal. If you decide to use this company be clear on what you as the consumer are being charged for up front. Its so disappointing to me that these types of rip offs can continue. read more

We called Nichols because of a clogged drain in our basement. A young man showed up to assess the situation. First he complained at how heavy the equipment was and called for help to move, this help never came. He explained he was not a plumber and he could not put the pipes back together and he explained what we needed to do. We went and bought the supplies and did as instructed. When we called back for him to return we were told they would not be returning because the young man said he was given a hard time. We were totally confused as to why this was happening. At no time was this young man treated with anything except respect. The really interesting thing was we were never asked about our take on the situation or if we had any questions about the situation. We were told it had been 10 years since we had called and if they had known that they would have never come anyway. Bottom line, atrocious customer service. We own a number of properties and we're looking for a plumbing contractor, it will not be Nichols. read more

I just bought a used mobile home & had an issue with my shower and both toilets. The young man was very knowledgable, took care of all of my problems & took the time to give me information that was very helpful for the future. He even asked & showed me where my heat tape plug in was, (since its easy for my pipes to freeze) & when to plug it in. I'll definitely call Nichols again! read more

Had a pipe burst on my baseboard hot water heating system. Called a plumber who told me the piping in my house was subject to failure (and had been involved in a class action lawsuit) and would need to be completely replaced. Nichols Plumbing originally installed the piping in 2008. Come to find out, the piping that Nichols installed had been recalled in 2005 (three years before the install in my home). Contacted Nichols Plumbing who took no responsibility for the install. Last correspondence from them was sarcastic and condescending. Wouldn't recommend this company. read more

Initially just needed a toilet flange repair estimate and possibly other jobs. Initially quoted $90/hour, 1 hour minimum. I was ok with that. Tech came out, we determined I needed to replace subfloor first, then a new flange. I took care of that, called and asked if tech could give me a call before I had him come back again as I had a question on what he had said on how much space to leave for hold down ring installation. Different tech called, spoke for 5 mins. Scheduled a second tech visit to install a new hold down ring, was told their prices were now $110/hour. Hmm, ok. Tech came out, I had to supply him some wood shims to install the ring. I think the office billed me the phone call as a visit as well. Wife called to have another sink estimate done on a new kitchen remodel. Tech wanted new sink cabinet opening cut up even more. We said no. We get another bill which now we are being told they charge for mileage, which wasn't told to us or charged on the previous visits. I would avoid this company. They overcharge for just showing up. Most plumbers I've worked with in the past offer free estimates if you end up having them do the work. read more
