Sometimes, every time?, it is all about the service technician who arrives at your house. Mike arrived on time and diagnosed the trouble with our well tank. He knew it was a well tank service call so he had a new tank and all the parts already on his truck just in case he had to do a replacement. Our tank was over 20 years old so we knew it was probably a goner before he even arrived. Mike replaced the tank that day and did a great job- neat, curious and explained all that he did. Mike even did a small repair to the well cap after noticing it was loose. This was our first experience with Ray Plumbing and we will call them again if needed. read more

We've called Ray's for about three different things now since we moved into our home about four years ago. Including a cleaning service for our furnace and porta pot rentals. We've had a good experience each time. I especially appreciated the time the crew took on cleaning our furnace as it was badly needed. Instal my kitchen faucet arrived 1 day after appointment to do arrived with no parts on van promised to come with proper supplies did not show up for two weeks after. Then showed up with wrong supplies and cut out two perfectly good working vales and used water lines that was twice is long as needed. Both times did not have the right parts so we should not have to pay for them not having proper supply and not being on time and cost my time and aggravation. read more

Supposedly a Rheem qualified service team. They were unable to diagnose and resolve what turned out to be a simple problem in a hot water heater. Multiple service calls didn't resolve the issue and I was charged for each unsuccessful call. I ended up fixing it myself. Incompetent and not committed to excellence. I do not recommend. read more

I called Rays plumbing about a Seasonal rental I have in Ellsworth,Maine. I live in Florida and the tenants called because there was a bad Oder and the toilet did not flush. The plumbing company walked the Tenant's through some steps and cleared the problem over the phone. I thought it was nice the company saved me a service call and are VERY honest. We called Ray's to replace a leaking shower. Not only did they respond quickly (some places we called for an estimate never returned our call) They arrived promptly to do an estimate for us. Eben gave us the estimate and assured us he would be the one to do the work. Eben's work was top quality and both he and his helper were very professional, worked diligently and even liked cats!!! This outfit has been going downhill for the past couple of years, after servicing my former historic home adequately for several years. Over the past three years, one good service tech after another have left, and the scheduling manager died. That left only one person, the snarky bookkeeper, who would demand payment that day via email and phone calls, even if I were in a business meeting, or out of cell phone range. Mind you, I had paid this company many thousands of dollars over the years. Fast forward to this winter, when I am on the west coast, and my caretaker informed that my new house in Bar Harbor had a split pipe, following a cold front, followed by a warm front. It was the weekend, and he called around to the usual plumbing firms, including Ray. I told him to cross Ray off the list, owing to their poor service in recent years, and their outrageous service fees on weekends and after hours. Plus, it was not an emergency, as the town of BH had turned off the water. Jason followed through immediately. That was on Saturday, and had a plumber from MDI scheduled for a few days off. Imagine my surprise when I received an email from snarky bookkeeper on the following Thursday, with an invoice attached for $231!! That included a $65 service fee, and the rest to "diagnose" the issue. First off, the tech was unauthorized to come onto my property, and second, we already knew what the issue was! I emailed back these facts, and then called my caretaker, who confirmed that the call out had been cancelled days before, and that I was not going to be bullied into paying the bill. What ensued was a nasty call from the snarkster, informing me that hereon I was no longer a customer, and she proceeded to loudly lecture me, which caused me to hang up. What the frig?! Two days later, my credit card company "refunded" the $231. But hey, not only had I not booked an appointment with Ray, but I had NOT AUTHORIZED A CHARGE ON MY CREDIT CARD! Fraudulent practice, Ray Plumbing. Shame on you. read more

I was recommended to Rays by the person I bought my house from. Said that they had been servicing the furnace since 2000. Every year I pay them $150 and a t ch would show up and fiddle with the furnace for 25 min and say it was all done and leave. Due to the degrading performance of my furnace, I called someone else this year. It took him SEVEN HOURS to chisel out and vacuum (Rays never brought a vacuum) my furnace clean. It is so clean that it sounds like a jet turbine now. He said it was working at 20% capacity, and was the dirtiest furnace he had cleaned in 30 years. His cleaning cost me $125. I will never call Rays again. Ever. read more

When looking for a portable toilet for a party and wedding in the month of August, friends of the family referred me to Ray Plumbing. They had used them in the past 2-3 times and were satisfied with the service even though last year had a hiccup that had to be resolved. After several attempts to make a reservation online and being unsuccessful due to the system being down I called in mid-June and spoke with the receptionist who assured me that she would make my reservation "the old fashioned way" as the system was down currently. I reserved a toilet for drop off July 27, pick up August 27 and gave my credit card info for payment. July 27 came and went with no porta-pottie dropped off. I called on 7/29 asking why we still had not seen the pottie and was told that they had no reservation information for me on file. I explained what had happened in June and was told again that they had no reservation for me and asked "So, do you want to cancel?" Cancel what?! I explained that I needed the pottie for the month rental dropped off ASAP and was assured it would be there by the end of the day the next day. My credit card info was taken again for payment. 7/30 no pottie. Called again, went through the same thing all over again. Was told it would be dropped off the next morning. This also did not happen. We had guests showing up for the party before the pottie was dropped off (FINALLY) at 4pm 7/31. I was asked for the 3rd time for my credit card info for payment. I gave it and asked for the department manager to call me as soon as he was back in the office. The month is now up, I have received a bill but my CC has not been run (remember I gave that info 3x?), and the manager has not called me. Not once in this entire process has anyone offered any apology or resolution to the issues that have ensued. Unfortunately for this business, we will be looking elsewhere for rental for our annual party from now on. They certainly do not seem to be appreciative or enthusiastic about maintaining a customer. read more
