Driveway is three to four years old and needs to be replaced. Grass is constantly growing through the asphalt and if you park a vehicle in the same place for a few days it starts to sink. There is also a large seam that runs down the middle of the driveway that I was told would go away over time. it never did. I thought I was getting a good deal but after I told people how much I paid, they ALL said I got ripped off!

Less than 3 months later and the results speak for themselves! Stay away from them. I contacted them when it first showed signs of damage and they refused to do it right! Or respect the tar thick enough. The contract stated 3 inches of millings and it was about 1. They were also supposed to grade the driveway to have it shed water. That did not happen either!! Nicholson offered to repair my driveway's surface, initially for $1300. We settled on $900. But all I got was a light coat of "oil" for the money. Another contractor working on another job for me offered that I had "been taken". The original surface is reappearing in various places, and I am definitely not happy with the job. I left a voicemail expressing my dissatisfaction, but never heard back from him. I definitely would not hire this company again. read more

Came and gave me an estimate to fill in dips in my driveway and then resurface the whole driveway in April. I live in a townhouse and my driveway wasn't that big for me to meet the minimum with other companies. On the day of the job, they were on time. When the asphalt was laid, they used a small compactor, no roller to make everything smooth and even. The driveway looked okay from the eye but once you walked on it you could tell that the dips were still there and it was really prominent after it rained. I reached out numerous times to Donovan only for him to give me the run around and say he would come and fix it and then not show up. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for someone to do the job right and actually values the customer. Nicholson's only cares about getting your money and doing poor work. I very seldom call out anybody or anything but I have to say something about this. Also, please accept this post as an apology for those who may have taken my recommendation. Notice that I'm not doing this anonymously. This event happened last fall. The company in question is Nicholson Asphalt. I first contacted them for an estimate. Their prices were lower than others I had gotten. They gave us two options, either asphalt or millings. We opted to invest in getting our driveway done with millings. The cost was much lower than asphalt and they assured us it was just as good. They showed up on time and were ready to go. They used a front end loader to spread out the millings about 2" or so. Then they "allegedly" seal coated it with a sprayer. The solution they used was supposed to be a tar compound. Then they used a hand held tamper to compress the millings. Not a roller but a small tamper. At the time, I thought it was a little inadequate and asked if they rolled it. They said this was just as good. When they were done it looked absolutely beautiful. I was really impressed and gave them a good online recommendation. In fact, they even put our driveway on their webpage which got several inquiries. They said wait a couple of days before driving on it. Then they contacted me and adjusted the time to one day. Not wanting to ruin it by being hasty, we waited two full days before driving on it. They said the more you drive over it it will get better over time. When I first walked on it I immediately realized something was wrong, it just crumbled under my feet. I only weigh 150lbs and it shouldn't have done that. Upon further examination I noticed that the seal coat was just superficial. It wasn't sticky or have any adhesive qualities. All the millings under the very top had zero sealant. It was basically a gravel driveway with black spray paint. There was no tar odor whatsoever associated with the spray. Our driveway has about a 15 degree angle. When we tried to drive over it the tires just spun. It made one hell of a mess and inconvenience. I contacted the company and requested them to come back and repair the damage. They said they would. We waited and nothing. This went on for several phone calls and text messages and just got lip service in return. To date, they have made zero attempt to call me or rectify the situation. I have a friend that came over and leveled up the millings so we can at least get up the driveway. So for anyone that might have taken my recommendation, I apologize. read more

Nicholson Asphalt....do not request service!! I asked for my driveway to be done....he just sprayed it. Not cracks cover! I've been robbed $100 for a townhome driveway! So mad. He states I didn't ask for the right service. Got it. He should've provided a better service and gain more business if he took the time to actual sell what it was needed for my driveway. I would've had been happy to pay the extra fees. I communicated immediately. His answer "This is a business, prices are prices." Manage better your "business". Be better at telling people what they actually need. Not all of us are knowledgeable about your bussiness. That's why you are the owner. Terrible company terrible people. They did a terrible job paving my driveway, throwing the extra asphalt in woods across the road, tore up my yard, asked my wife for lunch, asked to use our gas to keep their small roller running, asked to use my wheel barrow which still has asphalt caked on it, asked to use our propane to heat the asphalt at the end of the driveway which set and they put more asphalt on top so there is a speedbump when entering....it was just overall really bad and on top of it all I have to pay someone to take out my speedbump and fix the end of it. So I wouldn't have them do anything to anyone's driveway or property period. read more
