Dr. Chung spent countless hours on my cosmetic dentistry and has made me feel like a star- all without a filter! I am ABSURDLY picky (there's no way Dr Chung doesn't hate me but you'd never know it with how nice he is 100% of the time) when it comes to my cosmetic bonding. I had braces for 5 years as a child, I spent 9 months on the road with a touring show and had them longer than most which led to decalcification on my teeth. Unfortunately that meant cosmetic bonding or veneers. I had cosmetic bonding for 5 years and had Dr. Chung update it. He spent so much time on me, even when I was a pain in the butt and kept coming back in for adjustments. He wanted me to feel comfortable with the work done, especially knowing I'm an actor and my smile is insanely important to my commercial work. Not only is Dr. Chung great, but the entire staff is lovely. Front desk, dental assistants, everyone. My insurance is no longer covered at this office and it's a huge bummer, it's going to be hard to trust anyone else with my craziness. Save yourself the headache of looking elsewhere, this is the office you want to go to.

From the hygenic (sterile) environment to the friendly staff, I got to experience an extremely high level of professionalism throughout my visit. Their tech is unbelievable, I was in and out of there with 3D imaging, a full consult/plan, and a swag bag in less than a lunch break. Dr. G (Chelian) is extremely knowledgeable and professional, and took great care in explaining to the details of my jaw, my previous work, airway issues, and future recommendations. They wanted to charge me FULL price, a whole $5000 to start all over again after only two years of not wearing a retainer. She sent me for physical therapy to widen the opening of my mouth which lasted for close to one year, as well as a TMJ specialist that made several devices to aid in that respect and resolve thee TMJ issue. It was worth waiting a year before Dr. Salzer was able to put braces in my mouth and give me the smile and pefect bite I always wanted! I chose braces versus invisalign because my teeth were able to be corrected in less than one year and I love drinking coffee and would not be able to keep the invisalign in my mouth when drinking anything but water. In addition, if it wasn't for her, I would not have known that I had a lump on the upper left side of my mouth. Being an ex-cancer patient, that was extremely upsetting to me. She sent me to a neurologist to make sure that it wasn't cancer. I have had several checkups with that doctor to confirm. The technology in her office is "first class." I do believe without the best technology, she would not have known about it. Dr. Salzer invests in technology for her patients and has the cutting edge before it even hits the market! That should also be a factor when chosing the right orthodontist. Even though she sent me for physical therapy and to the TMJ specialist, it was all worth the wait! Dr. Salzer was able to give me the perfect bite and smile I always wanted!! She is a perfectionist and an amazing person and without hesitation, look no further!!!

I was surprised to see how they have X-rays and huge equipment in the space, as I was expected the office to be cramped. I went to the IAOMT site and also called Dams to get a list of recommended dentists. I did a lot of research over a month-long period, even going to one dentist in Manhattan and calling several others to get a sense of how seriously they treat amalgam replacement. I unfortunately had to eliminate most of the Manhattan dentists (one sounded great but was super expensive and doesn't allow cancellations; the others, frankly, didn't sound too good). I finally decided it was worth the trip to NJ to see Dr. Steinberg. So far that's turned out to be one of my better decisions. He takes *every* precaution in the book when replacing your amalgam fillings--he covers your clothing and face; gives you oxygen; uses a vacuum under your chin to suck away the mercury vapor; exposes only the tooth he is working on; uses suction on the tooth (to further pull away the mercury vapor); uses a rubber dam, etc. He also talks to you about supplements you should take (lots of vitamin C for instance) before and after--he understands that mercury is serious business and he doesn't screw around with it by taking chances with your health or his! I've had only one filling (of six) replaced so far (he works on one quadrant at a time), but so far so good! I go back in a couple of weeks for tooth number two. I'm looking forward to getting this crap out of my mouth, finally! (I asked my conventional dentist about it a couple of years ago and let her talk me out of it, since she said it's more dangerous to remove than just leave in.) Oh, and it turns out the trip to Dr. Steinberg's office in NJ is really short (from Port Authority). Easy breezy--I'm so glad I found and chose him!
