I am an adult and had worn practices in my 20's. My teeth were shifting and I was unhappy. Dr. Salzer was able to eliminate my major TMJ problems. She sent me for physical therapy to widen the opening of my mouth which lasted for close to one year, as well as a TMJ specialist that made several devices to aid in that respect and resolve thee TMJ issue. It was worth waiting a year before Dr. Salzer was able to put braces in my mouth and give me the smile and pefect bite I always wanted! I chose braces versus invisalign because my teeth were able to be corrected in less than one year and I love drinking coffee and would not be able to keep the invisalign in my mouth when drinking anything but water. In addition, if it wasn't for her, I would not have known that I had a lump on the upper left side of my mouth. Being an ex-cancer patient, that was extremely upsetting to me. She sent me to a neurologist to make sure that it wasn't cancer. I have had several checkups with that doctor to confirm. The technology in her office is "first class." I do believe without the best technology, she would not have known about it. Dr. Salzer invests in technology for her patients and has the cutting edge before it even hits the market! That should also be a factor when chosing the right orthodontist. Even though she sent me for physical therapy and to the TMJ specialist, it was all worth the wait! I was treated at Dr. Salzer's office for two years and spent a total of $12,000. They gave me braces on my lower teeth and invisalign on the upper teeth. I thought I was in good hands, but now I regret that I went there. As a result of this treatment: - I LOST 2 TEETH; - damage on my right molar filling; - I have an open bite that has to be readjusted; After paying all that money and suffering pain and inconvenience for two years, this is the result of her orthodontic treatment. Dr. Salzer was the responsible dentist and she planned my treatment. However, she did not conduct the work personally. I asked her to refund me the money I spent for this treatment that was not only useless, but caused damage. She refused to reimburse me. Now I have to pay for the damage caused by her office, as I need extensive additional care. Also, for my current treatment elsewhere to address the problems caused by her office, I requested a written report of my treatment and they say they don't have one. I now need to pay for two implants - to replace the teeth I lost, one molar filling and one more year of Invisalign to fix my bite. WHAT A SHAME! read more

In all the years that I have been practicing dentistry (over 20 years), they are by far the best orthodontists I've ever known. All the patients that I have seen (including myself and my children) have always come out with celebrity smiles. More importantly, they correct patient's bites which is very often overlooked by orthodontists, who are trying to achieve great smiles. One of the most important decisions that parents can make is the choice of orthodontist for their child. Dr. Marc Lemchen, and Dr. Jennifer Salzer, were recommended to me by a friend who had braces as an adult. She raved about his work and so I brought my 13-year-old son for a consultation. Because of an inamicable separation and child support case, braces for my son were put off until quite late. Every other orthodontist that we visited said that four teeth would have to be pulled. Dr. Lemchen said he thought he could save them, and, two years later, he has! The serial extraction of teeth in kids who are having braces is not the best option and can often lead to dental problems later in life. Dr. Lemchen fitted my son with a palate expander for four months. This provided more room for the teeth, which moved into place beautifully. My son still has braces on this teeth, but you can see not only a perfect smile, but an ideal balance of his face that may be, in part, because of this procedure. This is a Park Avenue office with prices to match. What I can say without hesitation is that it is worth every penny. This is an investment that will provide returns for the rest of my son's life. The staff is always welcoming. The doctors are thorough, professional and friendly. My son has not experienced the degree of discomfort that I remember as a child with braces. Lemchen-Salzer Orthodontics is hands-down the BEST orthodontics practice I have ever experienced, seen or heard of. I was referred as a patient by my aunt, as my cousins were Dr. Lemchen's patients and have the most beautiful (and of course functional) smiles I had ever seen. Before seeing Dr. Lemchen, I had other orthodontic treatment with a different practice that produced less than satisfactory results. My midline was off-center and my left dental arch stuck out much more than my right. Not only did my bite feel off and I started grinding my teeth, but my face looked lopsided. I had lost hope that I could have a functional let alone harmonious "Hollywood smile," until I met with Dr. Lemchen. I was blown away by my consultation, and my results have been even more incredible than I ever could have imagined. First and foremost, Lemchen-Salzer Orthodontics uses the most advanced diagnostic imaging software (which is not surprising because Dr. Lemchen founded Dolphin imaging which is the most used orthodontic imaging program) used to analyze facial muscle and bone structure. Despite living out of town, my treatment was fully monitored using a dental scan machine the office gave me for the duration of my treatment. Long overdue review! My kids had their teeth done here about 15 years ago. I was very impressed with the operation at Lemchen's. He has an array of chairs and very efficiently moves from chair-to-chair. The chairs are all out in the open in one large room, but I can't say there was ever a sense of no privacy. Still, if you're trying to hide, this may not be the place. The kids' teeth are still doing great, they both wear their retainers diligently and are gorgeous. But they didn't need orthodontia for that. It ain't cheap, but they know their stuff read more

I went to Lemchen my entire life. I got braces for the first time at age 10 (I had such a bad overbite I risked getting them knocked out). My mother never minded paying their prices because Lemchen is supposed to be the best. I'm 22 now and after 2 rounds or braces, lingual wires, several sets of retainers and head gear, if I don't wear my retainers every night, my teeth shift. I really never expected to pay this much to be a 22 year old wearing retainers to bed every night. That's a fun one to explain to boyfriends. I am sorta of surprised no one has reviewed this orthodontist. THIS IS THE MECCA OF ORTHODONTISTS..... So, my son's baby teeth did not fall out until much later, and we had a delayed start here. It was a long process as they ended up pushing out his chin ( still not sure how they did it, but he has a movie star chin now), and he had some medieval appliances ( he never complained though) and his smile today is breathtaking. He as a young adult still wears a metal wire behind his teeth though ( as he never wears his retainer which they are aware of) and the metal wire keeps his teeth from shifting. I went to Dr. Lemchen and it cost me $475 for a consultation. A ton of photographs and scans were taken. Unfortunately, he didn't answer most of my questions. I repeatedly tried to get information out of him as to what happened and all he did was shrug his shoulders. He wanted me out of there as fast as possible. He had a large computer screen in front of him and he kept clicking away, but I didn't understand what he said, nor would he explain. It took months to get records from his office. I found the staff difficult to deal with. They kept promising me records and then I never got them. Be careful with prices, they quote you one price, then ask for something much higher. I think the office are full of crooks. I paid $475 for nothing. He told me he was going to give me many options when I went to him and he didn't. read more

I found Dr. Lemchen when my parents were referred to him from my dentist back in 2005. From my first appointment to all of my current appointments, I know that Dr. Lemchen is an excellent orthodontist. I had my braces on from October 2005-2007 and have had permanent wires behind my teeth to keep them looking straight and perfect! His technicians, who are mostly young ladies, are warm, friendly, gentle on your mouth, and skilled at orthodontics. I must give special shout outs to Amy Kang and Jennifer, who usually are my technicians when I have visited. In addition, Dr. Lemchen and Dr. Salzer are excellent at their jobs, as they are warm, friendly, polite, skilled, and trustworthy. The office, which is situated uptown, is clean, inviting and upscale. The reception is centrally located when you enter, with the waiting room located on the left, with plush couches to sit on while you wait. When you walk into the treatment areas, there are comfortable seats that also have TVs overhead with headphones next to them, so you can be entertained while you are having your teeth worked on. Even though I come from Long Island to go here, it is worth the commute by car or by L.I.R.R. and the subway. To get to Dr. Lemchen's office, take the 4,5,or 6 trains to 59th St and Lexington Ave, walk up 60th St to Park Ave and walk up the odd numbered side of the street to building #553 which is at the southeast corner of 62nd St. Enjoy your visit here and to a happy, healthy smile! read more

I am someone who went to Dr. Lemlen the wonderboy and rock star, as he was called by his staff over 2 years ago. I spent around $500 for a consult. xrays/photos which took forever. After waiting several weeks and being promised many options like others. I had to meet him in the dead of winter, when it was zero degrees at 7 AM sharp. He's over 70 years old and look about 10 years older. I received no answers to any of the questions I had and he lied and lied by telling me my old ortho left me the same way I was then, which was totally untrue. He knew the person who screwed up my teeth and laughed about it. He told me, without asking me, to set my teeth crooked with retainers. He had retainers made up w/o even asking me about it. I refused to pay for them and got into a fight with the staff. Molds were taken during the consult but I didn't agree to anything. All the information he gave me was totally incorrect. What he wanted to do was have my teeth NOT settle and set my teeth crooked to make money on me. My old ortho and two other dentists I hired, advised me not to do that. I knew better anyway and my teeth did settle and another ortho. fixed my teeth which came out beautiful and I'm very happy. However, if I had listened to Dr. Lemchen, I would have used an invisalign retainer to make sure my teeth remained crooked. In the end, he would have made a bundle on me and he was looking to screw me and force me to have surgery. There is no one in their right mind that would tell you not to allow a bite to settle naturally. He told me things that were against all medical decency and against the first rules of orthodontics. He's a real phony and he charges a fortune. I had to pay two years ago $300 to just remove braces and that took weeks to get an appt and all of 5 minutes by some technician. The girls who work for him come and go. His assts or dental technicians do the work. He does nothing. He just gives the consult and the dental techs adjusts the wires. I think this is the reason for so many problems. He checks the teeth after the dental technicians do the work for about 5 seconds running from one chair to the other. He has rows and rows of chairs. When I had a fight with them, the office told me Dr. Lemchen didn't want me as a patient because I refused to listen to him. I had to inform these incompetents that I didn't want Lemchen or his office as my ortho. I want nothing to do with him. This man is a fraud, who creates problems with for your teeth in order to fix them, which makes him more money. he's a fraud and it's known in the industry he puts braces on people who do not need braces and leaves them on for a long time to do extra steps to make money.
