I'm so disappointed in my results. The office staff are wonderful but I felt my concerns with my teeth from day one fell on deaf ears with Dr. Goodman. I chose to get invisalign mainly for one tooth that needed to be turned and anything else that was adjusted was a plus, but overall my teeth weren't in bad shape. After almost two years of having them ( I was quoted a year), that same tooth was the only one that hadn't turned and on my last visit he told me it would create more space etc if we kept trying. Why wasn't I told that upfront that it would potentially not turn in the end? I paid for this treatment upfront and was diligent all the way through and I am so angry that I wasted money on this. I actually feel worse about my smile. I don't even like to smile with my teeth. The entire experience was completely disheartening. I decided to get a consultation with the Orthodontist my best friend used and he showed me on my X-Ray that the roots of my teeth are still slanted so my teeth were never truly fixed. How they were all uneven! He also told me that we could turn the one tooth that was my main concern and even sat and talked me through the process and set my expectations. While I am happy that another Orthodontist has given me hope and actually took the time to talk through everything with me, I am so angry that I have to spend another $7k and more of my time. Dr. Goodman is an excellent orthodontic provider. I had a serious case growing up that consisted of an open bite/under bite with crooked teeth. I needed braces and orthognatic double jaw surgery. Dr. Goodman made sure to map out my dental journey accurately and comprehensively so that I understood every step of the way. He is caring, smart, and makes sure you are provided with the most quality and safest care. He communicates easily and is always present to answer all your questions like a friend. He referred me to a great surgeon in the city for my jaw surgery and did an excellent job with my braces before and after the surgery. He checked on me after surgery and was very knowledgable on how to go about a case like this pre-op and post-op. A few years after, I revisited Dr. Goodman for Invisalign to fix further cosmetic things I was analyzing on my own and am yet again more than happy with my results. I wish I had read all the 1-star 'not recommended' reviews before I brought my children to Dr Goodman. I have been left shocked and dismayed by my family's experience with Dr Goodman who was rude and condescending, overly familiar and disrespectful to me, and he was rough with my children who asked afterwards why he was so rude to me. It has not surprised me to now find out in those reviews that Dr Goodman is not licensed with the American Board of Orthodontists. I chose not to go with Dr Goodman because his bedside manner was appalling, he appeared to have lots of added extras to his pricing, he made suggestions which I found questionable, and I didn't get a good feeling about him trying to pressure me into a peer review process which he explained to me would be him representing me to I could sue my old orthodontist for a refund for sub-par work. This was his idea and he put himself forward bragging he could guide me through this as an expert and specialist often called upon in these types of cases. I never gave Dr Goodman permission to go ahead with a peer review nor did I sign a contract with him for treatment, so was very upset to learn he had phoned my old orthodontist after our appointment and characterized himself as representing our family in order to find out more about our history with her. It felt creepy and somewhat like stalking. Or even like he was trying to create drama or escalate a situation with our old orthodontist that was not his business to do. Unbelievably, even after I found out about this interference and told him I did not give him permission to contact my old orthodontist, Dr Goodman continued to hound me saying he could act as a resource for Peer Review and offered to call the Manhattan Dental Society on my behalf. Does this guy not get a hint? The worst part though is that when I left a 1-star review for him on Google, he wrote me an email filled with abusive rants calling me 'petty' , a liar, and 'vengeful', and accusing me of having 'no integrity', while threatening to sue me. He also added a long response to my review in public view which libels me, disparages my character, shares untrue information about my family, and states that I wrote the review out of 'revenge' for him choosing not to treat my child. This is untrue. Dr Goodman did not even make my short list. He has since managed to find a way to have my Google review disappear and I wonder how many others this has happened to. I can see that Dr Goodman has responded similarly to other 1-star reviews on Google and to his 1-star reviews in the 'not recommended' section of Yelp by ranting on in the comments section so as to shame, mock, and intimidate people into revising their reviews. My experience with this orthodontist has left me shaken and his extreme and over-the-top responses to 1-star reviews has me concerned as to whether I am endangering my safety to even write this review. But I do not want to allow myself to be bullied into silence and I think others should know of my experience. Update: Dr Goodman has added a response below to state that I gave him permission to call our old orthodontist and ask for a refund. This permission was NEVER given in any form and is therefore a HIPPA violation as well as highly inappropriate. Since we chose not to go with him and he was not our orthodontist, he had no business involving himself in our affairs after one initial consultation. Additionally, we have not gone through 'many orthodontists' and Dr Goodman never stated he thought my children's orthodontic needs were too 'complex'. I am stunned. read more

I did a lot of research and read every comment on Google and Yelp. I found three orthodontists with most reviews and with very high ratings. I did the consulting with each of them. Other two doctors only meet me for a couple of minutes and tell me that I need to remove 4 premolars, braces and surgery. Sounds a very standardized process without any problems that I should expect. There was no Q & A time unless I became a patient. During the free consultation, Dr Goodman measured my teeth and provided his number for additional Q and A. Dr Goodman provided three ways with pros and cons. None of them were perfect but very practical. You can tell from intuition and other online cases that what he said makes sense. He sent me the animation after several days. After I saw the animation, I made up my mind. During the journey, he showed care, profession and courtesy. He also reviewed my teeth pics for a close monitoring. I have very crowded up teeth but I didn't remove premolars. Dr Goodman tried very hard to make me happy with the result and I am glad that he helped me. I like my new smile very much! read more

I went to Dr Goodman today for a consultation. He has high energy and is articulate. I was informed that straightening my teeth is not medically nessacary after he thoroughly assessed my teeth. He could have tried to upsell me like other dentists but he didn't. It is very hard to find an honest dentist in New York who isn't trying to just upsell you procedures. Dr. Goodman is very professional and experienced. When I first came into the office, just like every other orthodontics I have seen, Dr. Goodman told me my case is slightly complicated and will involve removing a few teeth to make room. However, unlike others, Dr. Goodman gave me treatment options and explained to me the tradeoffs. He offered me recommendations base on years of experience and make plausible proposals that are efficient and effective. He won my trust with clear vision, detailed planning, and transparent billing. Throughout the treatment, Dr. Goodman was very patient with the care he delivered. He referred me to great dentists for my canine and wisdom teeth removal. And he checked and updated my treatment frequently. There were a few times when my invisalign was not steering my teeth the most efficient way, Dr. Goodman made decisive calls to adjust the treatment procedure and ordered me new aligners that best suits my treatment needs at the time. Even after the proposal, Dr. Goodman took effort to make sure my retainers fit, and my bites are aligned. Dr. Goodman valued my personal opinion throughout the treatment. He constantly sought feedback on my experience and asked me whether I have problems with my smile and teeth aesthetics. A review that's long overdue. I had an extreme case of overcrowding. All the other orthodontists I've been to, were basically ready to send me off and get 4 of my teeth extracted. I had originally picked Dr. Goodman as my ortho, because he was the only one who seemed most knowledgable in Invisalign, and I felt I could trust him the most. Long story short, it was the best decision ever. I ended up not needing to do any extractions, since Dr. Goodman was confident, just by doing IPR and opening up my arcs, we can achieve the desired results. We went through it, and in only a little over a year, my treatment was over. In my wildest of dreams, because of the intense crowding I had, I'd have never imagined the process of aligning my teeth would be so smooth. Dr Goodman is terrific - this is my second time around getting Invisalign (after a bad experience with a different doctor in NJ), and Dr Goodman did an amazing job at making sure that the attachments were not very visible, coming up with a creative plan to address the upper teeth that I wanted to straighten, and going back-and-forth to customize when some of the liners were not moving my teeth at the rate that they should. So here's the deal. I originally went to Dr. Goodman because he's one of the most highly recommended orthodontists in the city. I made an appointment for an Invisalign consultation. However, after getting a quote from a few orthodontists, I opted to go with one downtown because they accepted my insurance as partial payment for the Invisalign. After almost 2 years of Invisalign, I questioned that decision. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least and left me with issues throughout the process and after the completion. I went back to Dr. Goodman for a second opinion and he was able to give a tremendous amount of in depth feedback as to what could have gone wrong. He also recommended that I bring this info back to my ortho and see if they could fix it before shelling out thousands more to start over. Overall, it's clear why he's so recommended. He's super knowledgeable, sets the proper expectations and is clearly worth the higher price. read more

Your teeth are in good hands with this doctor! After a bad experience with braces 8 years ago, I was so unhappy with my teeth. The pricy Manhattan ortho left me with a crocodile tooth on one side. My upper two fronts no longer touched the bottom two (forcing me to buy a cuticle scissors). She actually wanted to remove the braces when the bottom didn't even form a good semi circle. She was a nightmare! I found a dentist to bond the front bottom row cause I hated the uncomfortable retainer, but that made matters worse. I felt that someone else's teeth were in my mouth. It didn't feel like my mouth anymore! I was so miserable. Then I went to a local Riverdale Orthodontist who has a great reputation. Why I didn't do this in the first place is beyond me. Dr. Goodman is a GOOD MAN. But he's also a GREAT ORTHODONTIST. He gave me Invisalign and my teeth finally feel like MINE again. He even straightened the alligator tooth. And his staff are awesome. After my treatment ends, I will miss all of them. HE's a perfectionist with a relaxed personality (most perfectionists are uptight) who makes you feel comfortable. Go to him. Dr. Goodman is really great. My case was very difficult and complicated. I visited more than 10 orthodontists before finding Dr. Goodman and each said I had to have 2 top teeth extracted which I didn't want to do. I haven't written reviews in a while, but while prepping for my wedding, I have gotten the chance to get to know some top-notch professionals. A lot of times I am very disappointed by professionals who are only there to sell you your service and aren't too concerned about your results. This is not the case. Dr. Goodman, really, actually cares about your teeth and your smile from start to finish and beyond. I got Invisalgin. The consultant there was very professional and Dr. Goodman came to explain the entire process even before I confirmed I would be moving forward. I almost never had to wait to be seen and most of the time I was seen early. Dr. Goodman answered all my questions and took into consideration my concerns. I will not forget the staff and the other personnel in the office. They are an absolute pleasure to work with. They are extremely professional, nice, prompt, and personable and remember who you are. He was honest about what could be corrected and what might still be imperfect so I can make the most educated decision. I am typically very nervous going into any sort of doctor's appointment. Dr. Goodman and his staffs are GREAT! It has been over 2 years and he's still not sick of seeing my face... Dr. Goodman has been very patient with me as I'm somewhat OCD and we are now beyond my projected treatment time because I didn't mind spending extra time to get the most out of the treatment. We are working on problems that weren't originally proposed and he didn't ask for an extra dime. Also, I need to give credit to the staffs, almost all of them are super friendly and welcoming.
