Contacted around 7:30pm and asked some questions, and booked an appointment for the next day. That is, until I mentioned that my landlord will be paying and not me. Then turned to, I won't come unless I have the $120 service fee first because landlords like to skip out on the bill. That's fine- so I get in touch with my landlord by the time I'm all through sorting things out with him and her, he didn't give me his Venmo until almost 8:30pm and then texts me an hour later to tell me he's pulling me off the schedule because he hadn't gotten a Venmo. It was 9:30pm at night and you expect my landlord who has a life and Is probably in bed to jump on a dime to pay him that late at night. Come on bro. I could have just lied and told you that there was no landlord and then told you there was one when you got here. Going to go elsewhere. Don't hire if you have a landlord basically. read more

They lost me as a repeat customer today. They were running 2 hours behind yesterday, so I rescheduled til today. This morning I found out the water to my washer was accidentally turned off, so I called early to inform them I no longer needed service. From start to finish, this company is above board! Our refrigerator stopped working. They came out immediately, assessed the problem, and replaced the part, but discovered the compressor was shot (we were told ahead of time this might happen). Three magic words: guaranteed service window. My dishwasher recently started acting up and then stopped working entirely and my attempts to Google search fixes didn't solve the issue. I called three or four different places - Nickel had by far the soonest availability and also guaranteed me a window (they were a little late but I get the feeling that's unusual). Given that other companies basically were telling me that they'd call me at some point if a slot opened up (it's been days and I haven't heard back from two of them), having someone give me any assurance that they are coming is appreciated. The technician wore a mask the whole time he was in my home and asked permission before using my bathroom, both nice things to see. The technician also was willing to try to fix the controls (it was an issue with the buttons) before charging me a bunch to order new parts and have a second service visit, so it cost less than I was expecting. Overall if you need an appliance repaired I recommend calling Nickel. read more

I would give them zero stars if possible! Should have known it was going to be a bad experience when they showed up for the initial appointment 3 hours late. Next, came a song and dance about the part being backordered. That pushed the repair out by several days. Finally, they scheduled a 3-5pm window on a Wednesday. When we heard nothing from them, we reached out and they said the tech was running behind and would be 2 hours late. He NEVER SHOWED UP!! Never called, never texted. Just ghosted us. They scheduled for the next day. When they showed up (again 2+ hours late), they had the WRONG part! As I sit here, they are 4 hours late (or on their 3RD NO SHOW). No calls, texts or communication. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They have zero respect for customers. read more

Fridge wasn't working well. Deli drawer frozen, fridge was warm. Bottom freezer- no problem. Guy came over and said it was a sealed system failure and that I needed a new fridge. Then he left. Not planning to spend $2500 that day, I decided on a hunch to call another repair service. After diagnosing the problem on the phone, he was at my house in 10 minutes. He replaced a fan and $235 later my fridge is as good as new. The guy from Nickel appliance either didn't want to work, was a terrible diagnostician, or just plain unethical. I will never use Nickel appliance again, nor would I recommend them to anyone else. The next service was everything an appliance repair service should be and Nickel was just plain bad- and almost cost me for a new fridge. If, despite this review, you use Nickel and they tell you it's going yo cost thousands to fix or to buy a new one- I'd certainly recommend a second opinion. It saved me $2200 that day. read more
