I've been missing the old GameWorks/Tilt days lately, so when I found out there was a Nickelcade in Utah, we had to go. I love that old-school arcade feeling, and this was such a fun little throwback. There's a really good mix of classic arcade games, including Ms. Pac-Man, Tekken, DDR, air hockey, and plenty of ticket/redemption games where you can pick out prizes afterward. The whole place brought back that feeling of just wandering around an arcade trying whatever caught your eye. We ended up spending about two hours here, which was honestly the perfect amount of time before our flight, and spent around $30 total. We had a great time without feeling like we needed to spend a fortune. I walked out feeling like I had gotten a tiny piece of my childhood back. read more

The arcade is great! There is a $3 cover charge, but most the games only cost around $0.30-$0.60 a play so not the worst when compared to a larger arcade like round1 or Main Event where games are usually $2-3 a play. There is a very large prize wall with a wide selection. read more

Nickelcade was better than I expected. The arcade was generally clean and maintained. We had free admission with the GetOutPass, which saved us some money, and we spent $20 on a card. Although I miss the jingle jangle of nickels in my pockets, the game cards are more convenient. Playing some of the retro games I remember from growing up was fun. How fun to feel like a kid again! There's only 1 pinball machine, but there's plenty of other arcade games to keep you busy when there's someone else w playing it. There's a $3 entry fee, but it's waived if you pay for a reloadable card starting at $10. I got lost playing the nickel drop machine where you stick a nickel in and strategically drop it to push a stack of Nicole's off the platform. Your prize is tickets and not the nickels. You definitely have to swipe your card after each win since there's sneaky little kids that may try to swipe their card as they walk by. My boyfriend brought rubber gloves to wear and I didn't quite understand why until I touched a joystick playing ninja turtles. It's pretty gross and they should have more sanitizers around. The arcade games are a bit dated and not all of them em properly. The guy at the front desk is the only one here so it's hard for him to fix anything during business hours. Overall still very fun, but not something I can do on a regular basis. Great for kid's birthdays, cheap first dates, or place to burn 2 hours of fun for $20. read more

The Nickelcade is a nod to the past, nostalgia captured in time-the games, the prices, the atmosphere, the equipment. It's all just as it was years and years ago. Could it use some updating? Sure! (Especially the bathrooms.) But if you want a place that reminds you of a simpler time, this could be it. You pay an admission of $3 per person, then you can either bring your own nickels, or purchase baggies of them to play the arcade games. Many of the games were out of order, and the ones that were working were, well, dated. Some of the games spit out paper tickets, which you then feed to a ticket counting machine and redeem for prizes. I noticed a couple party rooms and a group of youngsters enjoying themselves. It appeared that they brought their own food, which not many places allow anymore-so that's a plus. read more

I love nickel arcades, and we had a lot of fun here, but it is a little deceptive as far as the cost goes. You have to pay an admission fee, which is standard for nickel arcades, but unlike nickel arcades I have been to in other states, there are no free games or any games that cost a nickel. A lot of the games had problems and the games that didn't have problems cost $.50 to $1 to play. We had fun but it was the same cost of a "normal" arcade at the end with less of a selection. We had a fun time at the Nicklcade. It felt like the games where priced higher then the should be. I was happy they had a pinball machine. Those are the best. For us $10 per person lasted maybe 2 hours. Note to management please reduce the volume of the Fright Fear Land clown game. Came here with my family. Only one employee. The variety of games wasn't bad but several were out of order. My biggest complaint was the prices. None of the games were a nickel and many were over $.50. Our $5 (each) only lasted about 10 minutes. And as far as prizes we only got 1 popper. Inside felt stagnant. i had so much fun with my boyfriend and his family. games were awesome, there were a couple old games that weren't able to play, other than that great experience. i have this review two stars for the carelessness of the entire staff of what i assume is high schoolers and one adult. no one was wearing mask, they were all ignoring customers, gave attitude, sitting on tables. i advise you to do better. read more

Staff is very surly here, first impression right off the bat. The place is a bit rough around the edges, some disrepair, lots of games that eat your nickels for breakfast unapologetically. But it's definitely a load of cheap fun. Plus side- The birthday party rooms are really inexpensive. $5 an hour and you can bring in outside food. Admission for parties is also discounted. You can easily walk away paying $50 or less for a 2 hour party for 10 kids. We booked both rooms as they have a door in between that can be opened to make it one big room. One of the rooms has a flat screen TV available with basic cable channels. There is one big negative to the party room situation. They smell very weird. Kind of musty/water damage-y mixed with a slightly sulphur/rotten egg smell. It was very off putting. Luckily the kids spent little time in the room and most of the time out on the arcade floor, which smells a little iffy but tons better than the party rooms. read more

We decided to surprise our kids and take them to play here because we'd heard it was a good nickel arcade. Clearly the person who told us it was a nice place hates us. This place is gross! It's located in a run down strip mall, and looks like it's falling apart. Upon entering your nose will be greeted with a foul odor of stale mildew, and a quick look around will make you want to bathe in sanitizer. Consider bringing a large can of Lysol disinfectant. There is an entrance fee of $2.25 per person, or $7.50 for 4 people. And for $5 you can get a cup of 100 nickels. My suggestion would be to walk out at this point, but if you do decide to stay be prepared for some of the most unfriendly employees you'll ever meet. Have a question? Ask a wall instead, it'll be more helpful. Machine eat your nickel, and you want it back? Be prepared to be verbally assaulted by the old man who "fixes" the machines. Speaking of "fixing" the machines, that guy should look for another job because almost half of the machines were broken or out of order. It was more of a graveyard for broken games, than a place to have fun. But to each their own. Also most of the games that do work cost more than a nickel. Some take as many as 10 nickels for one play! So if you like nasty places with super rude employees this is the place for you! We love Nickelmania (as much as one can love an arcade designed for kids with a ticket system for toy junk) and thought Nickelcade would be the same. NOPE! The entire building was hot, so escaping the heat wasn't happening. The setup felt closed off. Many machines were out of service. There are tons and tons of those machines that push nickels around and very little variety. There are NO pinball machines. The staff was rather surly and rude. I thought maybe the glean of nickel-aracdes had worn off, but we hit up Nickelmania the next week and it was a great time, as always. Even my 9 year old asked if we could never go back to Nickelcade.... that tells you something. read more

Last time I was here was years and years ago and I remember it distinctly as being a somewhat dark, grubby, shabby dirty place, with about half the games not working and some angry guy wandering around putting out of order signs on stuff. Fast forward to more recent times and it's still grubby, dirty and half (maybe more) of the games don't work, way more than I would consider reasonable. No guy wandering around and it didn't seem as dark this time. These are basically 15 cent game plays, some up to 20 cents or so. There is value in going in and spending over 2 hours of keeping the kid entertained for less than a 10 spot or in finally cranking through a side scrolling TMNT game of your misspent youth without throwing $25 or whatever at it. In fact, for under $10, you can be entirely done with arcade games and have your fill completely. That part is cool. What is not cool is the disrepair, which is rampant. I lost a bunch of nickels to devices that wouldn't function, but am I going to go stand in line talking to some teenaged kids who clearly don't care for a nickel? Nope, definitely am not. Someone said Dave & Buster's, which would be cool, but not sure how much the chain would dig the absurd liquor laws here and again, nickel games, so nothing high end or even recent here, but are you looking at arcade games for high end? No, you are not. You are going to your PC or console, just like me and everyone else. Still, too many games didn't work for me to give this the 3 I was leaning towards and that is flatly not acceptable, especially with the dual station games. read more

Came here with my son, we drove from near Nickel Mania to here because I was told this place was better. Lie. Granted it looks like it's set up well, there is colorful roof tiles. Wow. Tiny party rooms that I wouldn't dare rent and themes all around: "Out of Order" as far as the eye can see. I love locally owned businesses, but when you're charging to get in and getting all the nickels back, maybe of those nickels and buy some paint or new veneer. Not a bad little place for a couple of hours of cheap entertainment with the kiddo. The staff are not overly friendly, but they have definitely been polite each time we've been here. The place is clean albeit a little dark & dingy. I figure whaddya expect for a place where each game & ride only costs 0.5¢ - 0.10¢ apiece. The refreshments are reasonably priced. The games & rides are not in overall disrepair like they used to be. There are less games "out of order" than previously. There is a nominal fee of $2.25/ person for entry. Took my kids to this place, first time ever been and the last time. The place is dirty and stinks. They charge you $7.50 per person and $5.00 per 50 nickels. Halve of the arcade game are worn out and out dated and broken.. that was a joke! After all said and done we spent like $50.00 bucks and a bitter disappointment. I would advise everyone to stay away from that rip off place, and you do end up going make sure to take a bottle of sanitizer. read more

Horrible experience! DO NOT go to this location. Almost all of the little kids' rides and games were broken. Only a few of the machines had an "out of order" sign, so a lot of our nickles were lost. Most of the games/rides take two nickels or more, so it should be called "DimeCade" not nickelcade. It's dirty and it stinks, so bring hand sanitizer if you go. The games that actually do work only give out one ticket! So do yourself a favor and go to Nickelmania on State Street instead, we had a much better experience there last weekend. The fee to get very reasonable. However, once you're in, many of the games don't work. Games are worn and badly in need of some TLC. The management did its best repair and refund coins. I was taken back to see many of the staff were very young (14 or so). I didn't see an adult the whole time I was there. read more

Omg i love this place it's cheap and they have amazing prizes the games are not that expensive and the staff is really nice and helpful.

It's so run down and getting old. Some arcade doesn't even work & some machines don't even print out the tickets. Even the toys or whatever you exchange for tickets are really out dated. We need a Dave n Buster's here instead! read more

NOTHING worked. You'd put your nickels in and the machines would just rip you off. Paid for 100 nickels and got about 70 and then the machines ate about 69 of those nickels. The one nickel that did work was on such a rip off game anyway I didn't win. read more

This place has got to have some of the crappiest customer service I've ever experienced. On top of their complete rudeness, they start closing up an hour early [their 'prize center' closes down at 11, so you can't redeem your tickets for the last hour they are open]. Most machines are broken. A lot of the broken machines aren't actually marked as broken, so they just eat your money. The ones that aren't broken either give a low amount of tickets or no tickets at all. Not that it matters, because no one would want any of the prizes offered. The whole place is dirty. All-around awful experience, no idea how it stays in business. I highly recommend visiting Boondocks or Fat Cats instead, neither of which charge admission and both of which have clean and functioning machines. The bit extra you might have to spend is worth it to actually be able to play the games, and to not contract hepatitis. read more

We used to love going to nickelcade but our last experience was so terrible that we will never be back. The customer service was absolutely awful. While trying to pay for admission the machine was not accepting any cards. Two employees tried their best to make it work before finally asking the, what is assumed to be the manager, for assistance. Once he arrived he kept badgering me about having "insufficient funds" trying to brush it off that their equipment wasn't working. Who would have guessed that rebooting the system would make all of that money that I didn't have suddenly appear? Now I get to deal with the credit card companies calling me for security checks because he so rudely ran each card about five times before listening to us and rebooting the system that was, according to another employee, consistently faulty. To take my card and not let me view the receipts that kept coming out of the broken card reader was ludicrous. Without as much as an apology we were told to move on so they could get to the next people. I'd suggest visiting any other nickel arcade if you are looking for a fun place to spend your time. read more

This place is the worst. One you got to pay just to get through the doors, ok it's a nickel arcade, I understand got to earn some money. But then. The games range from 2 nickels to 10 nickels. Ok again I understand some games cost more to run. But the games are not clearly marked to how many nickels per play. My daughter wanted to play a game and did not realize it would cost 10 nickels. She decided not to play, so she hit the money return button, but no return. One of the employee with a crappy attitude said " if you don't want to play then don't put money in it" I went back to check the machine and all it says 5cent play, it was not clearly marked. I confronted the employee and said that this a kids place to play, please don't talk to my kids that way. His response if you don't like it, then leave. Third, this place smells and is very dirty.
