I walked into Nick's shop looking for some accessories for my AR. I'm not extremely knowledgeable with popular accessory brands as there are so many, so I asked Nick to point me in the right direction for optics and adjustable stocks, with the understanding that, while I appreciate quality parts and am willing to pay for them, I'm not into "luxury" parts that are way overpriced. Taking all this into account, he showed me a set of flip up iron sights priced at $100. He said he uses them on his personal guns and has "sold a bunch of them," whatever that's supposed to imply. He also showed me a basic adjustable stock with QD points, padding and a special locking mechanism for the adjustment, options many find attractive. The stock was priced at $90. Knowing that similar parts online were in the ballpark, I purchased both, along with an extra mag priced at $27. When I got home and was preparing to install the parts I noticed that the rear sight had a deep round scuff that was thru the paint into the metal about 1/8" in diameter from the front and rear sights rubbing against one another in the small case it was in. Also, that the forward vertical sight was bent slightly. When I noticed this I went online to see if anyone else had similar issues and was disgusted at what I found. The sight he sold me, advertised as a quality, yet reasonably priced part, was the lowest of the lowest quality sight that can be found on Amazon for $30...with free shipping. A more than 300% markup. When I regained my breath I decided to look up the stock and mag that I also purchased from him. The stock was of similar quality, selling for $20 on another gun shop's website. That's 450% markup. The mag was MSRP'd at $9 direct from the manufacturer. Not so upset with this markup, as cheap of a part as it is. I'm not one to cast shade on local businesses for marking items up from online prices. I've been a business owner for 10 years and I get it. No one likes the guy coming into your shop, taking your hard earned expertise and opinions, then saying "thanks, but I can get it cheaper online." But these prices are absolutely insane. I paid $240 for $60 worth of parts. The following day I returned to the shop to request a refund for the sight and the stock, on account that the sight was damaged and that both the parts were ridiculously overpriced and I felt that my ignorance was taken advantage of. I was quickly told of his "no returns" policy before he blamed his suppliers for the steep prices and told me "I can't buy it for that cheap". Yes you can, Nick. And I'm not the first to tell you this. A quick inventory of Nicks reviews online show several complaints about his business practices selling cheap, low quality and sometimes even fake (allegedly) parts for luxury prices, taking advantage of walk-in customers trying to support a local business in their hometown instead of giving their money to huge online retailers. Should I have better inspected the parts before I left the store? Sure. Should I have gone home and looked the parts up, prices, reviews, the whole nine before purchasing? Maybe. But as nice as a guy as Nick is, professional, courteous, and at least seemingly knowledgeable, I should be able to at least slightly trust a local professional to shoot me straight (pun intended), instead of shoot me in the back. I'll take the blame for this one, but buyers beware. For those of you who know and love Nick, take my words with a grain of salt. This was only one experience out of thousands I'm sure, and I wish him the best. But he had a chance to remedy the situation and save a business relationship and he chose to refuse and pass the buck. From what I understand, his prices on firearms are decent. Maybe I happened to be in the wrong isle for buying local, I don't know. But for a business so fundamentally rooted in freedom and protecting the common good, the little man, it surely didn't feel that way. read more

I highly recommend the Handgun Concealed Carry Permit Class. I recently completed this class. The volume of information was incredible! Knowing the laws of to protect myself was interesting. The range training was extremely professional and I left there with the skill I would never have had if not for the attention I was given.
