I came in wearing a splint I had been prescribed by my orthopedic doctor that was covered by my insurance . Dr. Das had a preference for his own splint, saying it would be better. He put it on me in the examination room and had me wear it to the checkout desk. At that time I was charged $81.19. Why would he put a brace on me and not tell me insurance didn't cover it and not tell me a price before he had me wear it.? I felt embarrassed and tricked. Because he told me it was going to be so much better than the orthopedist's brace and my embarrassment, I paid for it. I am on Medicare and a fixed income, This felt very wrong and predatory. After wearing it home, I kept having to adjust the brace, because it didn't stay in place. It did not keep my hand and wrist stabilized. The advantage sold to me was the open area between bars would keep the brace from rubbing over my injury. Instead, it wouldn't stay in place and the bar would ride right on top of my injury. At my follow up appointment, I told the doctor the problem with his brace and that I had been using my orthopedic brace since I had seen him last. He offered no compensation nor discussion. At the checkout desk I told his nurse of the problem and she said she would put in for a refund through the manufacturer. It could take up to 30 days. I have called Dr. Das's office every month for four months now and they tell me they are waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. I'm not going to ever see a refund. Dr Das never should have pushed his wrist brace on me without see if my insurance would pay for it. The brace I was wearing worked perfectly. Because, the brace from my orthopedist was covered I assumed this one was as well and I let him put it on me. It looked like a good design. I felt duped and preyed upon when I had to pay the $81.19, but I trusted that at least it would be more comfortable. Instead, it did not function as it should have. Again, it twisted and would not stay in place. I never needed a new brace in the first place. He was just working for the Medical manufacturer, pushing their product that was completely unnecessary. I would tell anyone who's thinking of going to him to find another doctor. This one is just out to make a buck at your expense.,This took a big chunk out of my budget in a fixed income.

I came in needing new orthotics, as my old ones were lost. I saw the nurse, described what I needed, saw the doctor for all of a sixty second exam, and then the office manager came in to discuss that they would not bill my insurance for new orthotics because, in their experience, insurance will not cover them. However, even after informing the staff that my insurance does cover them, usually even with the added fees they may have (which was my experience with my old orthotics at my previous podiatrist), they were still unwilling to give it a try. While their pricing model is respectable, and I understand it, the overall lack of face time with Dr. Burdge and the lack of interest in trying to work with my insurance was frustrating. He is so knowledgeable! I've been to 4 reputable podiatrists, for reasons not associated to their expertise, I kept having to find someone new. I'm so glad that insurance, retirement of a podiatrist, and moving brought me to Dr. Nagler! I loved him from the start! He is a brilliant doctor!!! Well informed of latest procedures too!! I had plantar fasciitis release, bunionectomy, and mallet toe surgery, all on both feet. Surgeries were performed with care and precision!!! Beginning at the 2nd week of April then June 6th. Secondly, I was also equally impressed with the surgery center called ROC in the building! (Oops maybe it's called Houston surgery center, but for sure it's in the same building 1st floor.) Wow! Talk about well oiled machine! Everyone has a specific role and they know it very well! He stopped what he was doing, came over & held my hand, and it was very sincere- he looks you in the eyes when he's talking to you and is very good at what he does. He waited until I was comfortable again before proceeding and didn't make me feel silly for acting like such a baby. I went to a different podiatrist a few years ago and they were awful so this was not my first rodeo. The difference between Dr. Nagler and other podiatrists is that Dr. Nagler does not delegate his work to assistants. He is very hands on and a true professional. I noticed that another person complained about the wait. I did wait about 15 minutes but I would much rather wait and get excellent care from the Doctor himself. He takes his time with you, explains everything, and answers any questions you have. The office is super clean and sterile and I felt very comfortable with Dr. Nagler and his staff. I would definitely go back to him and highly recommend him to anyone that needs a podiatrist.
