I had showed an inspo of what I wanted and makeup was nothing like the picture. Normally when I get makeup done it takes artists an hr but my makeup was completed in like 30 min. It looked like she probably uses the same products on everyone as there was no variety of items. My skin looked patchey and not blended. I took pictures and contacted The stylist 07/16/2023 over text and had a phone conversation that same day. I told the hairstylist I had knots on three of my braids and one of my braids it resulted in me losing a whole braid of hair. I told her I wanted to be compensated she stated she could reimburse up to 100.00 dollars in cash app and to just send her my cash app. I text her my cash app after our phone conversation. I didn't hear back from her until 07/19/2023 and she told me the reimbursement price could vary and that she would pay no more than 100.00 dollars and she was still going over the reimbursement. She then stated that my hair was thin in the back where I lost my braid. I Responded my hair was not thin in the back. I told her the 100.00 dollars would be some what fair. I didn't hear anything else from The stylist until 07/23/23 and she told me over the phone she felt like my hair was thin in the back and I need to send her a video of the back of my hair in order for her to reimburse and that she will not reimburse 100.00 dollars it would be what she felt I deserve. She then went on to say if I felt so strong about it I should take her to small claims court. And if I was unhappy with the style I should have gave her a 7 day notice so it's my fault so she said. If you have any knowledge on that the hair can lighten unevenly can cause breakage and Brooke took all the time necessary to create an absolute perfect blend. It took a few sessions, but she patiently corrected the blue black ink into a dark brown and added a more flattering thicker brow. This time she turned my microbladed thicker brows that I had done by a master in Hong Kong into the perfect permanent fixtures on my face. I just finished my last touch up today and I cannot be happier with the results. While Athena is on the pricier end of the spectrum, you get what you paid for. I have met with many other brow artists and they all lack the vision to be able to do what Athena was able to do with mine. Most of them told me to have them laser removed so they can start over. However, Athena was able to take what was already done and fix it to be more natural. You get what you pay for, so why would you cheap out on your face permanently? Your brows frame your face, make good choices. You can't go wrong with Athena.

I had to have reconstructive surgery to fix the dimpled in texture, discoloration and unevenness. Years later while it was a massive improvement it still bothered me. My lower lip was very thin and uneven on the vermilion border. It dimpled in when I made a kissy face and pulled towards the scar when I smiled. I went to Athena because I did a lot of research and did not want to mess around with my face. Athena took her time in showing me the different ways to redefine the lip line. I have had several sessions in the past year. She always takes her time to make sure you are comfortable and checks in with you via text the night after your procedure. She is a sweet caring and beautifully compassionate woman. My lips always healed quickly afterwards and look phenominal. I am able to apply lipstick in 30 seconds instead of the 15 it took before to make myself look even. I feel confident with my lips. Alot of the pulling and dimpling from the scar tissue is gone. When I smile my lips are even. No one but my best friends know I have had anything done. My lips look naturally full and beautiful. I also got my eye brows done and it has been amazing rolling out of bed with nothing but a swipe of mascara and being ready to go. I highly recommend her. My recent cut with her took an unexpected turn. I noticed it looked different from the photos and…read moresignificantly shorter so I got nervous, I was calm but I did express my thoughts... "It's shorter than the photos and I don't feel very good about it." She decided to stop and told me she wasn't comfortable cutting my hair anymore, since "you're clearly uncomfortable," and "the trust has been broken," Which I mean, I was... She suddenly offered to refer me out and said she'd reach out in a couple of days, and didn't charge me, but not paying hadn't even occurred to me... she rushed me out so she could do her "cleansing ritual" for the "negative energy" or something since she had 7 more clients after me... which she kept saying over and over. I asked if we could dry it or add some product or do the finishing touches and she said no... so I just awkwardly left with very wet hair. I just moved here and was really looking forward to developing a long term relationship with a stylist. I think gender affirming hair can take some trial and error and working with a stylist over time can help find "the" haircut. Feedback after each cut, taking in the knowledge from the stylist/learning from them, coming back every few months, etc. it's a journey. I was nervous and dissatisfied, but breathing and calm since I know this. The cut itself is fine, it's not exactly what I asked for but I mean... her skills at cutting hair are evident. My first haircut with her was a 10/10... To me it was more the reaction and shock and being rushed out and now I have a much shorter haircut (that I didn't ask for) that could use some touch ups, and that I don't know how to style, since normally I air dry my hair with some basic product which we talked about. The plan was that I would still be able to put it up and now I have basically a pixie... it's been a very upsetting and confusing experience... and it's hair and it'll grow out and I think it'll look more like my reference photos in a few months and with some small adjustments... I just wish she had responded differently and we could have continued working together. I'm not angry or posting this to be a "Karen," just thought it would be appropriate to share since this has really hurt me and been an emotional roller coaster, I felt a lot of distress that day and am still feeling distress and anxiety over the experience. Other stylists have confirmed that my concerns were logical, that the cut is in the same family but missed the mark and is definitely significantly shorter... and that the response was odd, we could have talked about ways to style it, product, addressed my concerns, made a plan for next time, anything...
