I was looking for a hair & makeup artist for a civil ceremony at SF city hall. While searching, I wanted to find someone who would be able to do very natural and fresh makeup, and ideally was familiar with working with Asian features. I decided to go with Pace in the end, and her quote was one of the best I found. We did a 2-3 hour long trial at her home studio, where I had sent her inspiration pics beforehand. She was extremely detail oriented with her application and was very patient with any feedback. Pace was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and very accommodating to the timing we needed. I picked some photos from her Instagram to show her the look I really liked from her portfolio. Through the whole make up/hair process she kept checking in on me and asking what I liked/preferred or what adjustments were needed. She even helped me re-do my lashes twice because I have uneven eyelids, and anything on them tends to enhance how asymmetrical they are. For the hair, I asked for a low-mid bun, and she did a wonderful job. My hair has trouble staying in place when I use a claw clip without a rubber band, so admittedly this was my biggest worry that it wouldn't hold through the photoshoot. Pace was very responsive via email when discussing packages, availability, and booking the MUA + hair trial. I'd recommend emailing her ahead of time or bringing many sample photos of picture you like and do not like in preparation for any session. If you have gotten your hair and make-up professional done beforehand, I'd also make sure to send her those copies as well. Pace is so calm and listens very well to any feedback and adjusts accordingly. I had booked a hair & make-up trial to be done the same day as our engagement photoshoot. I ended up having some feedback notes for Pace after looking back on the photos from our engagement shoot and Pace adjusted and did all recommended changes perfectly on the wedding day. For the actual wedding day, I had Pace and her assistant (Sooyeon) do hair and make-up for myself, several bridesmaids, and the mothers. Pace and Sooyeon worked quickly and efficiently and they were able to get the whole group that I wanted ready only 5 minutes a little later than our expected end time. This was a huge win to me still because I've been in and have been to weddings where hair and make-up ends up half an hour to an hour later than it should have taken. They had to do the moms' hair and makeup, my hair and makeup, and the bridesmaids hair, but they finished super early because they were so efficient (without sacrificing quality). Pace even stayed a bit later than agreed upon to touch up my makeup which I really appreciated. I highly recommend Pace to do your hair/makeup for any occasion. Pace was amazing to work with! I had an 8am start on my wedding day in SF, and she was not only on time, but efficient in her set up in our hotel room. For both me and my maid of honor, it took around 4.5-5 hours. I went with a more glam/dramatic/natural look with half up/down hairdo. This review is totally overdue, but I still need to put it out there in the universe. In case you are thinking twice about booking Pace, just do it! She was very flexible and was able to sneak in an extra service for my mom. I really liked the Korean style bridal makeup but was honestly a little heartbroken that I wouldn't get that experience for my wedding day. However, Pace delivered! She had all the same brands that I look for or have in my own kit. Her skin prep was so meticulous and my skin looked flawless. The makeup lasted the whole night (minus the lipstick which is mostly my fault because I wasn't really mindful of it but she did give me a nice touch up kit to fix up my lipstick). The look fit the vibe I was looking for and my hair was immaculate the whole night. It was truly a glamorous experience and I would hire her again for special events. I had hired pace for the first time to give me a blowout and full face makeup for my maternity shoot. She came to my home and did an at home service which was convenient as I'm 23 days from my due date. She did my makeup first and the foundation came out blotchy and dull, my face was left pale with no bronzer nor contour nor highlight. There was just no dimension and no color. My eyebrows- she drew an outline on my eyebrows with a pencil but didn't fill them in much,my eyebrows were left super light and I had to "fix" them by adding my own dip brow to them. The eyelashes she had applied were so thin and cheaply made, no volume nor dimension and not very black, didn't stand out at all Once she left (instead of feeling "finished" and getting dressed up and heading out) I had to get my personal makeup and fix and add foundation, bronzer, highlight, and add a lot to my brows to make them standout. I ALSO had to go in with my curler and curl the curls that were falling flat or that were just not curled. My hair was left frizzy and flat in the back and around, I had to add some product for it to shine The blowout- she didn't wash my hair, she didn't blow dry and style my hair. She just went in and curled my hair.. didn't even use heat protectant.. I wanted the front of my hair a certain style (sleek and straight from top then curled going down) and she tried giving me some volume on top front using clips and hairspray which didn't turn out how I wanted it at all so she went back in and fixed it a bit, still wasn't how I wanted it it to be but better than what she had done before.. The whole process took a bit over 2 hours (which is understandable for hair and makeup) but she didn't apply very much makeup and ONLY curled my hair, and didn't do an actual blowout. It was honestly a disappointing turnout It definitely wasn't worth what I had paid For me it was a waste of time and money. This was something I personally could've done myself if I would've know how it was going to turn out. I shouldn't have had to feel like I had to fix (add more) my hair and makeup after I just paid someone to fulfill these two projects for me. She should have left me feeling finished and ready to go I don't have a picture of the makeup she did to show as I was running late and had to fix my makeup quickly read more

** COVID Update** I contacted Pace to do my hair and my daughter's hair for an outdoor family photoshoot. Pace was very responsive and the whole process felt extremely safe. We all wore masks and no other customers were in the salon. The space was clean and comfortable. Per my last review, Pace is incredibly talented. I trusted her to make us look our best, gave her some pictures for inspiration, and let her work her magic. She did not disappoint. On top of being great at what she does, Pace is kind and compassionate person. She worked very well with my toddler and made our first mommy-daughter salon experience a memorable one.
