Highly recommend yoga of any kid with Nicolette!! My fav is SUP yoga on a sunny day. Unbeatable!! As someone that doesn't do yoga a ton, I really appreciate instructors like her who make yoga accessible for all levels. I've done both SUP and studio Yoga (w/ tune-up balls) with her left feeling mentally clear, open, refreshed, strong, calm and empowered. I don't know all the poses by name, and she breaks it down so anyone can do them, with modifications for those at the more advanced levels. I've been to other studios who intimidate if you aren't someone who practices yoga all the time, but The Illuminated Body simply empowers! I've been taking weekly one-on-one yoga classes with Nicolette since last year at Lolo Health Center in Oakland. It's been years since I've done yoga but Nicolette quickly got a sense of my skill level and tailored my classes. I've been going to Nicolette's yoga class 1x-2x a week for the last two months. Prior to this, my only experience with yoga was doing the P90X version sporadically, painfully, and with much consternation and antipathy. Nicolette has changed all of that. I tried other yoga classes a few times before and always used to have a hard time sticking to the routine. Then I started going to Nicolette's yoga classes and it has changed my life! I found Nicolette's classes to be so enjoyable that I was inspired to keep going which gave me the chance to build upon what I had learned. My strength and flexibility increased and I began to feel more grounded. It was interesting how quickly I started feeling the change. After about 4 classes of going once per week even my husband started to notice a change in my posture and strength. When I go to class it is such a meditative space and I am able to forget about the stress or to-do's in my life and just be present. Through the regular classes, I also noticed my back pain reduce significantly. Nicolette combines a very balanced mix of breath work, strength training and meditation into her routines. It's not all crazy go-go-go like some other classes. The mix allows me to work my mind as well as my body and I have found this to be so beneficial to my health and well being. Nicolette is also such a sweet, compassionate and motivational person, she really cares for her students and makes me feel like she is truly invested in my growth as a yogini. Nicolette is an amazing yoga teacher. She leads yoga at UC Berkeley's WorkFit program so I try to go a couple times a week. Even though these sessions are only 45 minutes long, I feel like my entire body has had a good thorough stretch. She doesn't just go through the motions like some yoga teachers do. She teaches us mindfulness and the 8 limbs of yoga. In every class she opens her magic little book and reads us a passage of something to reflect on. She is a guru! Somehow she manages to remember people's names and greets them as they come to class. It shows that she really cares about her students and loves her job. I am a major Nicolette fan! I've attended numerous yoga classes with her, which are incredible- very deep in touch with our spiritual side and self acceptance and love, but fully guided with excellent direction to the yoga physical moves. Nicolette has become not only an amazing inspirational yoga instructor but also my friend! She has a natural ability to hook you into the practice and take you a little deeper each time. I think Nicolette is a fantastic yoga teacher. She really incorporates anatomy into her guidance you learn about your body while getting a workout.
