Meh. Good service can't really make up for average/below average food. Doesn't matter that there's a huge quantity of it, won't be back

Don't bother with the kebabs here. I mean, do, they're great. But if you're down to your last $10,…read moreand you need some food to make you feel good, don't bother with the kebabs. Why? Because the chips are possibly some of the most fantastic hot chips in Melbourne. The secret, I suspect, is a spice blend they're putting on them. A spice blend mixed with fairy dust in all likelihood. I used to eat these and then go home and not have space for a meal lovingly cooked by my actual mother. She was offended until she tried them, and then she started sending my father out for late-night chip runs. They're that good.

My first reaction/thought of this place is, "Why is it located in such a very bad location?" If for some reason you lose your phone and have a bad sense of direction, forget about trying to find this place because its sandwiched between a self serve car wash and BP petrol station, just as you turn in. The BP petrol station alone makes this places hard to find with its big signs and flashy colours. Since this place open til late, I had the pleasure of eating their lamb Kebab a few times in the evenings and late nights. I bought a Small Lamb Kebab pack that came with: Kebab, which does not fall apart like other kebabs in other restaurants. The better its stuck together the less mess you'd have to clean up after. Hot chips with amazing seasoning which is fried when ordering. I found to be great as it keeps that freshly fried hotness and that sound we all love to hear on the TV when that special someone bites into a nicely baked/fried chip. Can Soft Drink Buying in the afternoon/late, early evenings are great as the kebab are still hot by the time I get home to eat after a 15-25min drive(during peak hour after work). Buying during the late trade was another story! I wanted to see if there would be a difference in quality from the start of the day trade running til its last few hours of trade. 3:30am I get in and ordered the same small pack. Everything was great but what I've noticed was that the Kebab, the main meal had cooled down by the time I got home. No cars on the road, in the middle of early morning? What's going on here? Why is it that the quality of food dropped from being great in the morning to the point that someone will get food poisoning? I couldn't finish it as I was cautious to not get food poison. Being a well known kebab place which its main consumers are buying during the night/early morning it gets full majority of the weekends. What I've also noticed is their food handing hygiene. When preparing food in front of customers, wearing food grade gloves is a must which none of the employees and the owners themselves didn't have on and rings on fingers weren't taken off. I don't know where their fingers have been and being the consumer, its not nice to see all this happening right in front of my eyes. Prices are similar with other Kebab restaurants, give or take a dollar or 3. In conclusion, The best Kebab and hot chips I've had, but the reason I gave it 3 stars out of 5 is due to Food Handling hygiene which is a big concern with me( it can being in Food Safety inspectors/auditors) plus how they are maintaining their meat temperature after being cooked(Food poisoning is dangerous) and location. You know those signs that say "Beware"? Well with this restaurant it would be "Beware, eat at your own risk"

And at 2 in the morning, on your way home from a big night out, there's nothing that a vegetarian could be more thrilled to see than a big Mediterranean falafel wrap. As well as being open late and serving good quality and relatively healthy fast food, Falafel House is also awesome because they sell all kinds of old-school milk bar staples like milk shakes and thick shakes (they even have Blue Heaven flavour)! To walk home with a falafel wrap in one hand an a chocolate milkshake in the other makes me all kinds of happy.

They stay open until 4 am and open again at 9am seven nights a week. So, fantastic for the Big nights out, or when you're burning midnight oil. They've got more than souvlakis and kebabs, schwarmas, burgers and fish chips too oh and dimmies as well. Coffee is served and try the Turkish delight or baklava. Now I want to stress that the meats hanging off the rotisserie are ACTUAL meat cuts be it lamb or chicken or beef and NOT the kind of meat glue that's just yuck. So you know you are getting tasty proper slices of lamb, chicken or beef. Or a combination just ask. And choose your toppings from Garlic sauce to tabbouleh and pickled turnips and chilli. My mouth is watering already. I would recommend the lamb kebab or souvlaki burger. Tasty and satisfying. It's a beeeet more expensive than others but again, you aren't eating meat glue. The gentlemen serving you are always happy to be there. It's a pretty basic setup but importantly it's kept clean and you can sit inside our outside. I heart Falafel House.
