Um so, yes I get it... it's a local thing. I'm still uncomfortable with the name even if there was a man named so. Now that I got that off my chest, let me tell you about my 35 minute visit to Nig's. We were up renting a cabin in the Dells and instead of staying in and drinking all the fine beer and drink we had already purchased, we thought we'd light up the night locally. First mistake, everythings closed. We had the cab drive us to a german beer hall, closed. We walked down the street to find a place to eat.. all closed. Then we ended up at Nig's. We walked in and saw it's pretty divey - not a bad thing. Lots of interesting things to look at, from the walls, to the bar, to the locals. The people who were there that night included older men watching tv and hanging out, and then a random group of rather young looking patrons who were all about to have a pretty unpleasant orgy in front of us. Slow dancing to fast music. Uck. Last but not least, if it's the only thing open I'll take it - and they had Honey Weiss on tap, so not all was lost. A bachelor party followed us in, so there's truth to the other reviews. It just seemed like a place filled with STDs and lots of ways to get them. read more

Fun little place, music is terrible. All they play is 90's throwbacks one after another. I understand once in a while it's fun but every single weekend same music over and over. The prices aren't bad and vary depending on the bartender. The ladies room is pretty creepy. They have a decent selection of beer, a couple big TVs, pool and darts. I think the bartenders are nice. Sometimes a few of them can seem a bit annoyed but it's understandable, seeing as how they have to deal with drunken tourists all night long. The older gentleman that works during the day is very friendly & helpful if you're looking for advice on a places to go. read more

Alright come on folks, if you're over 21 and in the dells you HAVE to have a swig at Nigs! My husband and I love little dive bars so we had to check out this place. The drinks aren't anything special, just run of the bill like any bar would have. But the crowd itself is so diverse (ranging from bikers to older folks) that it makes the place a lot of fun. It is a great place to check out if you just want a quick drink. read more

I cannot believe that they have not been closed down by the board of health. I've been in a lot of bars in my life but I have never seen a bathroom this disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The white plastic wastebasket in the stall was black it was so dirty and you could hardly see in the mirror it was so gross. Terrible service. Walked in and sat at a table. Place was empty except for about 5 people at the bar. Bartender, older guy with glasses, looked at us but never acknowledged us. We waited and waited but never got served. We thought maybe he was busy with those guys at the bar so we watched him. He made a drink for one couple then went over to 3 older guys sitting there and started in on their conversation. Not working, just talking. We just got up and started walking out. That's when the bartender tells us, "Thanks guys." ... For what?! You did absolutely nothing. Never going back and we've been going to the Dells for a very long time. Worst experience we've had. Good thing there are plenty of other great bars there. This one however, is probably most aimed towards locals. Stay away. read more

I would give the bar 4 stars because I love going there but it will only receive 3 from me because this last trip I went with the intention of buying a souvenir glass and they were sold out!!! I wish there was a way of purchasing online, because I do not know when I'll be able to travel there again. read more

FIRST_ Nigs is named after Nig Kenney who owned the bar. I moved to the dells in 73, Nigs was my favorite bar. so quit hattin the name,,geez grow up. read more

I am a fan or dive bars but some of the people in there on a Sat afternoon looked really sketchy..lol. It REEKED like cigars in there and the drinks weren't made very well. I'd probably go back if I was really drunk. read more

Nigs has been a staple in Wisconsin Dells for years. Please don't change a thing. These modern day yuppies think everything has to be laaddy Dah. Just go and enjoy the bar as a place for a fun time, like the bars use to be. You go there and remember how it was in the 50 and 60S. If the young crowd doesn't get it, that's too bad as you can really let your hair down and have a good time with good people and drinks. You don't have to dress up fit to kill and try to out do each other. I think the older crowd mid 30s to whatever appreciate something that does not change and brings back memories of the dives the way they used to be. Sure the restrooms leave a little or lot to be desired, but how much time do you need to be in there. They don't claim to be a luxury bar as they are part of the original Dells not trying to overly impress everyone with crafted beers and fancy interior. All they want is people to come in and have a drink and stay awhile to enjoy the friendliness and their type of atmosphere. It is your choice if you want to stay, but it is others to enjoy the atmosphere of Nigs, just the way it has been for several years. More people need to understand the world is moving to fast and everyone could stand to slow down a little and enjoy a place like this without bringing it down. I hope they keep the bar like it is for another century plus. Go Nigs and you have a great staff, just can't please everyone. read more
