There are better dive bars in the Dells. The greatest attraction to the place was the name, obviously. I had a cranberry vodka, he had a captain and coke. Drinks were fine. Then we ordered jello shots. They were prepackaged, like pudding cups! And they tasted awful. It appears lots of locals hang out here, as well as tourists, but the locals at Nig's DON'T like tourists. At least not the "too cool" 20-something locals. If you like dive bars, and are in the Dells, go to Sandbar, Tipper's or Fisher's. Hell, even the bar at Chalet Lanes bowling alley is better. read more

One of the worst-named bars on the planet, it's an okay place. It seems to be the go-to bar for visitors and locals alike, and features a spacious floor with a dive-bar feel. They offer some pretty good drink deals, like $4 for a Miller-filled pint glass that you get to take home, and the jukebox is digital (though most people seem to pick Nickleback and Kid Rock...thanks guys!). The ladies room is in need of some mid-evening attention, but the stall wasn't totally gross and had TP, so I guess it's a win in that respect. Monday January 7 2019 This is off season, normally this place is packed with tourists. This is one crazy place . Been wanting to check this place out for several years. My sister and brother in law came up to visit the wife and I for the weekend. We were checking out a bakery at the other end of the block so I figured what the hell being from Chicago area we got to check it out. If anyone knows me I like strange and weird places. We went in and first impression is a semi rough sports bar. We got 4 seats at the end of the bar and we ordered a couple beers. I tried a angry orchard beer and I'll never do that again yuck! But I drank most of it my brother-in-law payed so I didn't want waste his generosity. But I digress again . There was like 8 or 9 dudes at the other end of the bar with one real tough lady. The testosterone level was at max and they were quite loud and a Little randy we were acting like e were watching a collage football game but couldn't help hearing a couple of the guys offering to show the lady their mr Johnson's and she was talking about whipping out her ta ta's if you get my drift. (And no I didn't look to see if she had them out ) lol. My sister and wife were getting concerned and the bartender assured us everything was cool. We stayed here in early October and spent about 3 hours at Nig's on Friday night, the atmosphere and people reminded me of bars back home were everybody knows you. We had a couple pitchers of two hearted ale and a couple of Hopalicious by ale asylum they were only like $8 a pitcher for craft beer. On Saturday we ducked our heads into the Sandbar and pitchers of Miller lite were $10 we opted for another option. We then proceeded to duck into the showboat saloon and the crowd was generally early 20's D-Bags who use the terms "SWAG" and don't curve the bills of their hats....we ended going back to Nig's and enjoyed ourselves for a couple hours. read more

Not sure what all the fuss is about this place. I spent an August weekend night in the Dells and thought I'd check out some of the local businesses. Nig's has a catchy slogan and word of mouth says that it's a bar to visit. Conveniently located on a major strip. Upon first entry I was taken aback by the mish-mash of decor. Signs stapled to the angled ceiling, dart games blocking the flow of movement, obnoxious neon signs, and a bar that has seen better days. The crowd reminded me of my college days....14 years ago. It was like the same people were time warped here except with more tattoos. The bar staff was nice but uninformed. I asked for a Paloma, which is a relatively simple summer drink. The bartender never heard of it. The beer selection was minimal. I'm guessing it's a steady stream of rail whiskey/rum & soda drinks all night. Price per drink was standard for most semi urban Wisconsin cities. Overall, not recommended. If you're interested in the novelty or want a tshirt, stop by. So went out on a Saturday night at Wisconsin Dells which better expect a tourist town would be packed, Nigs was hosting a DJ and the place was elbow to elbow packed with about 4 bachelor\bachelorette parties and with the ambiance of the bar it seemed run down and could have a few updates done to make it look better on the inside. Above the main bar it looks like they can even take it up to a second floor with all the room. The specials that were for the night were cheap for the type of alcohol you get but the volume was lacking i thought. It was a good bar but plan on going back next time I am in town to try the food. read more

Nigs is located in the heart of downtown, but it's a breath of fresh air from the surrounding cheesy gimmicks. We visited early in the evening and had no trouble getting a seat right at the bar. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Drink prices were reasonable and we noticed they had some great specials. I gave 4/5 stars only because the restrooms were clean, but could use some TLC. The toilets, sinks, etc. were definitely on their last leg. The tile in the ladies' room was cracked and missing in some places - which I can imagine could spell disaster for a tipsy lady in heels. My hubby noted that the locks on the stalls in the men's room were either broken or spaced too far apart to actually lock. The overall atmosphere is laidback. Great people, great music, and lots of fun. We'll definitely be back! read more

Probably the most happening bar in Wisconsin Dells. No joke. They had everything from locals to bachelorette parties here. Hell, I was here for a Bachelor party. Bonus points for carrying Tenacious D on the juke-box and not kicking my group out for our drunkenly screaming along to songs. Nig's bar is iconic. His "Have a Swig With Nig" t-shirts are iconic; everyone who goes to the Dells knows that a Noah's Ark or Kalahari T-shirt is what every dork in junior high school will be wearing when they get beat up, so they beg their folks to step into the smokey dive that is Nig's, in downtown Wiss Dells, and have the 'tender grab a shirt from the shelf behind the bar. When they get back to their home in generic middle America, they wash the shirt three times: once to get out the cigarette stench, once to shrink it to size, and once to distress the wording enough that they just might be able to wear it to school without the principal ordering them to turn it inside out. The bar is a Miller Lite, denim, black leather, stale body odor, take no prisoners and no showers type of place. To call Nig's anything else would be like calling putt-putt golf an Olympic sport. There are a lot of craaazy buggers at Nig's, and while they're friendly, you might not want to share nuts from the same bar-top dish, if you get my drift. You'll be rubbing your eyes more than once if you spend a night on a barstool at Nig's. You might see a man holding a woman by the brassiere strap just as a pet owner might restrain a dog (I've yet to see a woman struck in the snout with a rolled up Sports Illustrated at Nig's, though). You might see a skinny woman with a face like a leatherette satchel making a fat man's hair into a ponytail then wiping the oil from her hands onto her blue jeans. You might see a wily group of bachelorettes drinking shots of Sambuca from one anothers' armpits and kissing strange men, and I mean kissing them hard. You might see a fellow eat his hi-ball glass on a wager by crushing it in a napkin and crunching the shards with teeth that look to have been last brushed in 2014. It's that type of place...anything goes. Well, almost anything: you won't see a millionaire buying Old Fashioneds for everyone at the bar. Nope, that is something you'll never see. I'm giving Nig's bar three stars: one for selling the t-shirts that every Tommy and Suzi wants for school, a second for being a legend in the Wiss Dells (even I know about it, for heaven's sakes!), and a third and final star for having the nerve to call themselves Nig's in a day and age when that sort of lingo can get one's windows smashed. The drinks are flowing, the girls are stowing, the boys are mowing, and the place is glowing. (I don't know what that means either, I just felt the need for some rhyming in this review) That's Nig's Pub, I tell you. Simple as that. Dirty and loud as a mother-in-law, that's Nig's. Go in and get the t-shirt and get an eyeful at Nig's. Then, head back to your generic hotel room with elephants and rhinos on the wallpaper, and eat $18 pizzas by the water slides while your pudgy wife in a one-piece black number that looks like the skin of a walrus pouts about running out of fudge, all while your kids eat their toenails and bitch about your not letting them take any friends on the trip. And you, my weekend warrior, can dream that the waitresses at Nig's--you know, the cute ones that gave you the stink eye for being old and sappy and buying youth-sized t-shirts instead of whiskey shots--are wearing wet, curvaceous swimsuits while they rescue you with mouth-to-mouth CPR after you try to off yourself in the hotel swimming pool by putting your mouth over that suction hole thingy on the wall of the deep end when no one's looking. "God, take me now, for I've become a bottom-feeder in a cesspond called Loserville!" But I digress. Yea, why not...have a swig with Nig. Go on, I dare you. I double dare you. Tip: Eat plenty of Imodium anti-diarrhea pills before a night at Nig's unless you enjoy copping a squat on a filthy hod in a doorless stall as you watch a line of drunk men pee into a horse trough while they look right at your knocking knees and call you names to your face. The divey-est of dive bar restrooms. Completely disgusting. The sink was perpetually running (possibly just left on by someone else, but I wasn't about to touch it to find out if 'off' was an option). Of the two stalls, one still had some toilet paper lining the seat and the other was in unmentionable condition. The one slightly redeeming quality of this bathroom was it's two floor-length urinals, which I prefer. But even those were so close together that they might as well have only had one. Ok before I even begin my review I just want to say one thing. Really people....get over the name. Seriously. Yeah yeah big deal it may not seem appropriate, but the names been there forever and its become a landmark in the town. Deal with it. Now, as far as the place goes its not bad. It's not a club, its a bar and people do get drunk. It's not going to be amazingly decorated and all that jazz. WI Dells is not only a tourist city, it's also a place where people live and work. So yeah there will be locals hanging out there. I'm sure they can get annoyed at times with tourists, but honestly in this bar I can't see it being an issue unless your bringing negative attention to yourself. The drinks are reasonably priced $3.25 for a bottle of Miller Lite and $4 for a tap beer & you can keep the glass. They have pool tables and darts. And the bartenders were nice. The only reason I give this place two stars is because it smelled AWFUL in there. Like stale vomit...it was disgusting. The bathroom was even worse. I walked into the ladies room and thought maybe it was the guys room or something. The mirror looked like it hadn't been washed in months, but with all of the water streaks all over it to the point where your reflection was fuzzy I'm guessing someone made half an attempt by trying to wash it with a handful of water thrown at it. I was amazed there was TP in the stalls, but i will say that I used my foot to flush the toilet. And thank God l carry hand sanitizer in my purse, because there was no way I was touching the faucet. My family has been hitting the dells since before I was born, which means Nigs was there before them..Its a landmark..its fun..the people are a hoot and as the gentleman before me put it so perfectly..its an "oasis"! My boyfriend and I were intrigued by the name, and with both of us being recently 21 we were looking to check out what the Dell's scene looks like from that side. We stopped in for a drink, my boyfriend got a Miller Lite for $4 and got to keep the pint glass it came in, and I got a UV Blue Mixer for $3.75. We are used to the cheap campus bars we go to at school, but for a bar off of a college campus the prices weren't over our budget. The bar was definitely something we are used too since we do hit up college campus bars most of the time. Neither of us used the restroom, but from the looks of things I am not sure it would be the best place to use the facilities. The other two people in our party met up with us and purchased a drink just to get the pint glass it came in. We did go early evening, so approximately 8pm, and the place was not crowded at all. It looked like there were a few locals at the bar, there was a couple playing darts and there was a pool table for pool play. If we go to the Dell's again, which I'm sure we will, I think that we will hit up Nig's Bar again, we don't really have too much to complain about. read more
