Found Niles College through google, searching for SPD (Sterile Processing Department) courses in the Bay Area. From San Francisco, this was the closest AND cheapest school I found. I'm so glad I chose to take my course here; after about 3 months of class, we took our state exams right away, and got our CBSPD certifications. I am currently in the process of starting the externship program with them (they are affiliated with Kaiser and SF General, along with Sequoia I believe). Had Tues-Thurs class with instructor Tim and he was excellent, especially cause we were the first class he's taught. Super funny, friendly, and extremely helpful with the material you are learning. Fe and Nes are the friendliest directors you will ever meet. Always a warm welcoming vibe every time you walk into Niles. Highly recommended for anyone looking into the fields that Niles offers.

I stick and try to interact with the best and do my DD before taking a class. For the most part my professors have been 5/5 awesome and go above and beyond. The custodial are super chill and the aids are nice too. My main gripe is the Wi-Fi and data in the science building on the second floor is absolutely garbage. I strongly believe the school did that on purpose because mine (and so many others) have no service on that floor whatsoever. Go one floor above or below and it's good. We are not children and some of us are emergency contacts or have work so not having service is an issue. Especially since I tutor there and have been at all the open labs including club stuff. Also sometimes I have to turn my phone off and on to get service back which is crazy. That alone could be a reason for 0 stars but I do really like the staff and people here. They are nice and helpful. Also so beware the bookstore can be a hassle. There can be a lot of issues. It took me two semesters to get a printer but I got it after asking like 3-4x a week for a couple months. The coordination is not the best but if you push you will get the result you desire. There are many services available like DRC and EOPS available for students. Take advantage of you don't know my opinion is ask Chat gpt for all the info with links and it will give it to you in a easy to access format rather than dealing with the website. I would definitely recommend going here. For a CC it is quite lovely. They have so many things including a makerspace in the library!

Had the opportunity to visit the campus this past Friday and was thoroughly impressed! In my…read moreopinion... this is hands down the best campus in the state for MA or LVN. There's a peacefulness and ambience you get here, I haven't seen at other schools I visited. You can hear and see the ocean, you see rustic streams and redwoods. You can see peaceful wildlife in the same setting as it once stood 100 years ago all from the doorsteps of your classroom. I was welcomed by a polite woman named Kayla, who provided me with a tour of the school, its recognition of Pride Month, and Unitek's Mission Statement. I am not gay, but as Asexual I feel like I'm different... than other men. But the school's recognition of Pride Month seemed genuine and organic, like it's not just about Pride, it's about everyone here. A lot of the Pride Decorations they had were hand made and not store bought showing the time they put into Pride. Lots of inclusivity here. What I liked during my tour is that the classrooms were a size that I know my instructor will hear me, see me, and understand me. It felt like the student to instructor ratio would be very conducive for any learning curve. We came upon a girl quietly studying in the dark in the computer lab; locked in mentally, so much she didn't even notice us peer in the room. There's zero; if any distractions on this campus, yet it's close to everything no other campus in the state has. It's on the dead end of a street that's nestled in a forest hill type setting surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and Beautiful Hiking Cliffs and Pathways. A "Hikers Paradise" if you say. I surf literally 10 min from this campus and I know I can go from my wetsuit in the water to school in 20 min. There's no traffic to deal with, plenty of parking and several rooms for rent within walking distance. There's a 24 Hour Fitness, a Mall, and a legal launch point for Paragliding all within a 5-10 min drive. Maybe I'll take a pic of the school as I fly by one day. Kayla went out of her way to fit me in for a meet and greet with the Admissions Counselor and Dean of School, Milo. I felt very comfortable. Everyone is nice. No one was on "business mode" or "stare at my phone mode". They gave me their undivided attention, and it meant a lot to me. I assure you; you can't just expect to go to any School, arrive on a walk-in, and get to speak to the Dean, Admissions, and get a tour all in the first hour! I like that the Admissions Counselor wasn't all about pushing me into a program or making feel like they just wanted my money. She actually really wanted to make sure that my plan and intentions were feasible. See... I live in Pacifica, but I run a company in Sacramento and I'm retiring this summer and transitioning to school while I drive for Uber.... and it can be hard to explain my situation. She actually took an extended amount of time with me and wanted to schedule an interview. If they were all about the money or needed the money, I'm already approved for Loans, Pell Grant, and Cal Grant... if that was the case, they'd be expediting my Pre-Requisites and background checks. But she genuinely was vested in giving me her time... and school starts this month so I won't waste it. I'm glad she did, because to be honest with you, after giving it thought; I believe the MA path is right for me. If I want to eventually transition to LVN or BSN, all that is available to me in the Unitek Network. Stay tuned for Graduation Pics next year!

She genuinely wanted every student to succeed. Each lecture, she shared insight from her professional experience, gave plenty of examples of how different scenarios would look in practice, and always welcomed discussions when something wasn't clear. During clinicals, she provided so much guidance and support, followed by thoughtful debriefs at the end of each day. She took the time to connect what we learned in theory to the real patients we worked with, which made everything make so much more sense. Miss Didi prepared me incredibly well for the state exam. I felt confident enough to take the written exam the day after graduating and the skills exam three days later, passing both with flying colors. Additionally, Mr. Dell and Dr. Marilyn were extremely supportive and checked in often to make sure we had what we needed throughout the program. I wanted to add that while MCC does not guarantee placement to a facility with their program, it is important to note that there are A LOT of opportunities for networking that Miss Didi and MCC offers. For my class, Miss Didi had several administrators and DSD's speak with us about their facilities, offering insight, applications, and contact information should you decide to apply. I just interviewed for my top choice facility and have been offered employment contingent on passed reference checks, background check and fingerprinting. I graduated from my program 8 days ago. You get what you put into the program, and being open to communication and learning will lead you to the start of a rewarding career. Overall, MCC made the whole experience feel worth it, and I feel truly set up for success moving forward.

To lose my career as a LVN, paid so much, because this school cares about money. Not fairness, not bullying, not even my mental health. I cried so many times. One of my other classmates (practically a doctor in the Philippines) got bullied out of the program. I reached out how furious I was because she's so sweet, but all they said is "we will take care of it". They didn't. We had a teacher Ms Mikayla who was degrading and none of the students liked her. The reason I didn't is because I personally want to use my clinical hours to actually be at the facility, not studying for exams. All the instructors who do clinicals cut off our times to go back to school to study. The nurses at our first clinical questioned why we leave so early. All of this I pointed out to higher ups. Watching all my bullies (Jessica, Gianna, Vitoria, Ernesto) on instagram have the opportunities I lost. Made me break down and cry. Some people shouldn't be nurses. Don't bother attending here.

(With exception to one skill, but I've found that is my weakness and I need to keep practicing). The AM CNA program is about 5-6 weeks, the first two being theory and done at home whilst the rest are "clinicals". Unfortunately due to COVID, students are not able to go into facilities to practice their skills, but instead, we practiced with dummies and used our partners as residents. This is probably my *only* complaint, but obviously, it's not their fault, COVID has kind of thrown everybody for a loop.
