Average prices, below average food and poor service.

This is one of those sushi spots I have been curious about because we always zoom past it as we get on the freeway to head to San Diego. I was in town for the weekend and finally found the chance to go. I tend not to hit up businesses that have 3.5 stars but it seems most non-chain spots in Yuma all have 3.5 stars. Hmmmmmm. Apparently they aren't known for their food there. My mom and I got there in time for their happy hour prices/menu. I wish I could tell you the rolls we had, but it's been a couple weeks and their menu online is seriously hard to figure out. But I went with my new sushi joint gauge roll, the spicy tuna roll. They do have a pretty nice deal on buy one get one half off (or maybe it's free) roll special during the happy hour slot. Nice! For a spot in the middle of the desert this place was pretty good. Not my most favorite by far, but their rolls are tasty and creative. The choices are numerous and everyone is sure to find a roll they like. read more

The sushi happy hour lured me in. I got adventurous and tried the flaming roll. I didn't like the taste it added to the roll (it barbecues the fish on top), but it was worth a try just to see something set on fire at your table. I did enjoy my other roll and seaweed salad. My service was excellent. With the happy hour 2 for 1 pricing it's hard to complain, but I doubt I would come when things are regular price. read more

This is probably the best sushi place ... in Yuma. Even though that's not really saying a lot - because there are only like 3 sushi places total. But of all of them, I like going here. The atmosphere is easy going. They actually have a pretty large venue, but I've always sat in the booths overlooking 16th St. The first time I went I got the Teriyaki beef bento box. Very good. Every time since then, I usually get a roll. I think now that it's summer they've had a "happy hour" deal. Buy 2 rolls, get the 3rd free. Between my hubster and I, that's actually a lot of food. We always have trouble finishing it. But it's soo good. But sushi isn't really "leftovers" material. So for three rolls and two drinks we pay about $25 plus tips. So not tooo bad. I really like their Ninja and Spicy Ninja. Yum! Oh, and the happy hour is Mon-Fri from 3pm - 6pm. If you get off early enough from work. And they close at 10pm. Go. read more

First time at this place, I ordered the tempura, salmon and hamachi sushi. The food was good. There was maybe 6 people in the restaurant and the service was really slow. I think they were too busy taking care of call in orders than with the patrons in the actual restaurant. They had 1 waitress and she was really nice and seemed really busy doing everything. 4 of us came for lunch, my 1st time, and it wss wonderful. Love the 2 for the price of 1. Too much food so brought leftovers home for later. We are leaving Yuma tomorrow so have to wait until next year ti enjoy this place again. read more

We drove from Glamis to have Sushi on a Sunday. This place was great! We had about 14 different rolls. I have to mention their spicy orange chicken meal was probably the best orange chicken I've ever had! We will definitely be making a trip back. read more

Wonderful happy hour menu (buy one roll, get one free) This restaurant has a great atmosphere and welcoming environment. They offer a wide range of fresh sushi, nigiri, and my favorite - sashimi! It literally melts in your mouth. You have to try the Flaming Dragon (served on fire) and the Tiger roll. Service is great and friendly. I love coming here, but if the restaurant is full, plan for just a short wait. Please try this place! You'll love it! read more

I enjoyed the food here. The chef is very nice and is very efficient. The food arrives quickly and was very tasty. I would like to have seen a better variety of custom rolls. Most of the custom rolls featured a "california" or spicy tuna center with a different spin on the exterior of the roll. The rice was fresh you could tell they didn't keep it from the night before like some places do. The negative: The servers were not very good. I went twice the same week and both times the servers were inattentive and did not provide good service. The Asian woman who is in charge of the servers is very abrupt and could use some lessons in courtesy. I give this place 4 stars only because the chef was great and the food was very good. If the rating was on the servers alone, this would have been two stars at best. read more

The Good: This is the best place for GOOD sushi. You can actually taste the fish and unlike blue fin it isn't mostly rice. ( plus they actually fit in your mouth:D) haha The rolls are usually fast to come out but when they are busy it can take a little while. Best roll is the crunch dragon roll. I love the dancing shrimp appetizer too! It's like food and a show (they light it on fire and it bakes in front of you) plus it's delicious with shrimp, crab and a really good sauce. The owner is usually there making the rolls and is SUPER nice:) The Bad: The only bad thing is the young asian waitress working there is ALWAYS RUDE and never helpful (do you NOT want a tip?!) She doesn't care to even try to hide her attitude... I'm assuming she's related to the owner otherwise she probably would have been fired. Ask to have the older woman wait on you, she is super nice and attentive. read more

Great place for all day Sushi and Udon. All the typical Sushi variety plus special rolls like the Cherry Roll. Happy hour buy one get one free. I tried the Poke Salad, delicious but spicy. Restaurant itself, nothing special. But large carpark and great location right in between all the hotels. read more

This place would be okay if it were'nt for the fact that you never know what to expect. sometimes you get good service but most of the time you don't. The servers forget what you ordered and you don't get your meal at the same time. I'd be glad if I could get silverware and napkins without asking. We went back recently and things seem a bit better, maybe there are new owners. The salad dressing was finally good (ginger dressing vs the nasty mayo dressing they had before. Most of the prices lowered vs the 50% off specialty rolls but some of the items are different. My sons loves the dragon roll but didn't like it this time. The presentation was better. I wish they would give you complimentary miso soup and/or salad before your meal. read more

I usually stay away from sushi places in small towns.... Hours from an ocean, or major airport. Glad I took the advice of the other reviews and tried Ninja Sushi out. Fantastic sushi! The sushi was served cold and fasted fresh. Great flavor, with none of the fishy taste I associate with lower quality places. I got the Flaming dragon roll, which they light on fire. It's fun to order flaming rolls at any restaurant, this one has great flavor, and is the right amount spicy. Tried another roll with salmon on top which had good coloring and flavor. Customer service is great, although it wasn't very busy on a Wednesday at lunch :) Very clean restaurant and good atmosphere. I'll definitely repeat next time I'm in town. read more

For a family restaurant they do not have any baby changing tables in either the men's restroom or the females restroom. Each are pretty grimy. You would expect that they would catch up with the other restaurants in the area. read more

Seriously I love sushi, but this was horrible. Starting with the smell when I walked in...just not that fresh smell. I was undeterred, and thought I would go ahead and give it a shot. I thought the menu looked good, but the taste was just not there. I'm new to Yuma, so my search for good sushi will continue! read more

The fish I was served in my Nigiri roll tasted not correctly prepared. Tuna Tataki also looked and tasted as if it was leftovers. Sadly my first and probably the last visit at Ninja Sushi was not a positive experience. Puzzling to get such poor quality with great fish markets just 2.5 hrs away in San Diego. read more

Don't be fooled by the outside of the restaurant this is hands down one of the best sushi places I've been to in a long time! Very unique and fresh sushi menu and excellent service. I give them a 2 star rating on cleanliness. I would recommend that they keep and maintain the area more clean throughout the day. read more

I ride 45 mins to eat here I live in El Centro CA and the places we have out there suck they have great deals happy hour times are impossible to be beat buy one get one free is on point I'm full when I leave and I don't have to give up an arm and a leg food is fresh fish taste great try it out read more

Like many say here, this is the best sushi in Yuma for the price, but only during happy hour. The fish here is usually pretty fresh. Their regular menu has a good selection as well. I definitely recommend the Snow White Roll if you like scallops. read more

Really quite good. The presentation was not exquisite, but the food was very very good. Highly recommend the happy hour. $3 Sapporo and 2 for 1 rolls. We had shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll (very tasty) miso soup and edamame (large order for the low price). Throw 3 Sapporo into the mix and it was.... $24. I know. Crazy. I was impressed with the quality of the sashimi; however, the rice in the sushi roll I ordered did not seem to be sushi rice. The roll would fall apart leading me to believe regular white rice was used instead of the sticky sushi rice. Great sashimi for a desert community. I will order again read more

Service is great and the buy 1 get 1 roll free is a heck of a deal. They even honored us the happy hour when we got there right at 5:30, which is the end of happy hour. The flaming dragon is rad when they bring the roll to your table on fire. Ninja also has the best salmon rolls. read more

The always have a long happy hour special: buy one get one free. This makes my family happy! Their staff is so friendly and attentive. We ask for a lot of stuff and they are always happy to help. The food is really good, we've had many sushi rolls, as well as yakisoba plates and chicken teriyaki bowls. I love their vegetable tempura and gyoza appetizers. I guess we go in often enough to he point where they know my usual "special" sushi request. It's a quick, delicious, and filling meal. read more

I ordered the salmon rolls. When they came I smelled them from 4 ft away. they stunk like rotten fish. I didn't eat them.

We got 4 rolls the Super ninja, Flaming dragon, Lobster crossing and Pop corn shrimp roll. They were all delicious but our favorites were the lobster crossing and pop corn shrimp roll. I am not from yuma but I will for sure be stopping here every time we're driving by yuma. I definitely recommend this place don't let the outside appearance fool you, the food is great quality. The sushi rolls were good the service quick and to the point. Server was rude! Even tried pairing up the BOGO free rolls in a way that makes you pay more!( $5 with the $13 instead of pairing them accordingly) I then mentioned this to the waitress who got angry because I didn't mention this sooner.... like what lady stop trying to cheat your customers not sure if I would go back due to her attitude. read more

I hadn't been back here in years. We finally went for lunch and it was VERY disappointing. We were greeted as we entered and given a booth. They gave us one menu for two people. We were ready to order but no one came to take our order for a long time. They weren't real busy or anything. ALL the rolls we ordered were mostly imitation crab salad. The menu doesn't list the ingredients of the regular rolls. Two of the rolls weren't touched, we ended up just tossing them out. The other rolls I ate as much as I could but honestly after the first bite I didn't really want to eat. The rolls were kind of warm and had a fishy smell and sort of off tasting. The other thing was the bill. They had a buy one get one free deal. I ordered two rolls that were the same price (dragon roll and tiger roll), which are some of the more expensive rolls). My wife ordered two shrimp tempura rolls, which are the regular cheaper rolls. They gave the two cheaper rolls free and charged the two expensive rolls instead of dividing it up by each person's order. I felt kind of cheated by that honestly. The miso soup was decent. The tempura vegetables we ordered when my wife realized the rolls were full of crab salad (she doesn't eat mayo) were ok. My wife liked them but I thought they were kind of greasy. The sauce they gave with them was watered down. Service was decent. The restaurant looks ok inside. We won't go back ever again. There's not many places in Yuma that have decent sushi. Save yourself frustration and money by going to Blue Fin Sushi. So much better! Ninja Sushi's bad service has pissed me off one too many times. Though the sushi is good, I will not go back. Blue Fin's sushi is just as good (if not better) and their happy hour is a better deal (buy one, get one 2:30-5:30). The customer service is also much better at Blue Fin. Waitresses are friendly, get your order right, and actually check up on you to make sure you are doing alright. Thanks to Blue Fin, no more putting up with crappy service and bigger bills when I crave sushi. read more
