The best! Lived in Yuma for almost a year and half now, and this is by far my favorite sushi place! I'm a sashimi fan. The fish here is consistently fresh, generous portions, reasonable prices, nice staff, plus good BOGO rolls until 5 pm (if ya like rolls; they're big and delicious). Occasionally, they're a little low on help, or a couple servers might not be real knowledgeable, but that's a Yuma thing everywhere, unfortunately (hey; it's a small city). This is such a hidden gem. I have to be completely honest, the outside of the restaurant does not do justice for the sushi it serves. I definitely believe because there's so much traffic due to the happy hour deal that they offer, that they do serve very fresh sushi compared to anything around this area. I do wish that the owner would take into consideration to repaint the outside of the restaurant so its can look a little nicer and inviting. However, this is definitely my go to. I am here once or twice a week. I do definitely recommend the spicy Rhonda, Mark's special, and the spring roll. read more

Struggled hard with this place, mainly because the sushi is actually very good but everything else fails in comparison. Let me start off with the not so good and finish with the great: Service - very poor, I'm disappointed that they can't get people who are more efficient and I hate to say this but I will...FRIENDLY. Only one server, I believe she is Japanese, is great, knows what she is doing and is nice to customers. The others act like they don't want to be bothered. Perhaps they're underpaid and overworked, I am not sure...but if that's the case then management needs to step in. Unacceptable. Aspect and decor - ugh, when I first walked in here I was ready to walk out. It looks like an abandoned Midwest diner from the 70s with a Japanese twist. The booths are cracked and old, windows are dirty and it's always dark in there. This place has such potential if it were remodeled and redesigned. Again, management and owner should do something about it. Busy times - they don't handle them well. They run out of plates and then mix orders on one plate. I was at lunch with 4 others and three of our rolls were on one plate, we all had to eat off of that plate because they didn't have others, good thing we knew each other. As an idea, maybe take the long rolls and put them into square shapes rather than a long roll and fit it on a smaller dish. Think outside of the box people! Water - horrible, like it came out of the toilet and I'm only assuming since I wouldn't dare ever taste toilet water, maybe if it was the last water on earth and I was dying of dehydration, I digress. Not sure what filtration system they use (if any) but holy Mackerel (which they don't have btw) it tastes bad. I'm not a soda drinker so I get the plum wine instead. I know at least that comes from a bottle. Sushi rolls - very good. A lot of fried options for those who don't like the raw kind. I would like to see more raw variety though, almost every roll has at least one fried item in it. Spicy Rhona (which I'm told is supposed to be Rhonda) is excellent. Sushi Happy Hour - daily (I think) from like 11am to 5pm. Buy one roll get the other roll free. That's a great deal you cannot beat. I'm a pretty experienced sushi eater, having lived in and travelled through Japan rather extensively. That said, my expectations were pretty low for a sushi restaurant three hours away from the nearest ocean. The non traditional dishes were decent, and I liked the poke salad. The nigiri sushi was limited, with no fatty tuna or Spanish mackerel available. Crab was Krab, and to me that's not a good sign. Overall food was ok but not a fan of the service. They leave finished plates on the table unless you ask to have them cleared. I was one of the few people in the restaurant but no one seemed to be very happy I was there. I was in Yuma visiting some friends and hey invited us to dinner and asked us what we wanted. I said whatever and I am very glad my friend chose this place. I loved every single roll I tried. I tried the Vegas roll, the caterpillar and different ones that I don't remember the names of. Every single roll was fresh and delicious. Their regular dinner plates were also delicious, hubby tried the teriyaki chicken. It also came with miso soup, rice and salad. That side salad was so delicious, I ate the whole thing, the dressing was so light and refreshing. Ninja sushi is delicious. I will definitely be going there when I return to Yuma. read more

I was going to give Ninja Sushi 3 or 4 stars after having eaten lunch there. The food was good, although somewhat pricey for the area. My feeling for Ninja Suchi changed when my wife and I visited the place a few days later, after having lunch there. We went there for dinner and instead of eating sushi, I decided to have their Korean BBQ ribs. The service was very slow which doesn't bother me much. When the food finally came, I was not so happy. The ribs were stale. I notified the waitress who just totally ignored me. I thought that maybe there was a language barrier and she didn't understand so I let her know again. She apologizes to me and says something to to the cook. He shakes his head as if I was lying about the bad food. They decide to reimburse me for the plate but I wanted no part of it. I wanted to let them know only so that no one else would get sick from the food. I probably won't be going back to Ninja Sushi. Eating there taught me a lesson. If you go to a place that specializes in something, don't order anything other that what they specialize in. Otherwise, you'll end up eating food that has been in the refrigerator for who knows how long. read more

This place loses a star because I did not get a "Bye, I love you." when I left and I was quite disappointed. I was, however, pleasently surprised at how GOOD their sushi was for being in the middle of the desert. I had the Baked Salmon (closest to tempura) and was VERY pleased. It took a bit longer than I expected to make considering how many people were in the restaurant (~10-15) and me being the only one at the bar. But I can assure you it was WELL worth the wait. This is one of the top 5 sushi meals I've had, and I have eaten a lot of sushi in my life. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is traveling through the area. Ordered two rolls and they exceeded expectation, however we called in to order and we literally waited like 30 mins in the car before we got our food. The decor of this place is a tad confusing. On the left side of the restaurant it has diner style booths that are old and ripped. On the right side of the restaurant, it has very nice lighting and a sushi bar with fairly nice decor. Ok fine no big deal since I didn't necessarily come here for the decor. I came here for their happy hour special from 3 pm til 6 pm buy any 2 rolls get 1 free. Their menu is VERY confusing. After several minutes of reading it, they organize their sushi rolls by price vs by type. So they have an $8.95 section, and $11.95 section etc.. and their description of their rolls was even more confusing. It didn't necessarily say if the roll of fried or baked etc, it used some weird descriptions. But ultimately I figured out what I wanted. The service was very nice too. After I placed my order, the server asked if I wanted any miso soup and that it came with my order. I said sure. The soup was hot and very tasty. I ordered my 3 rolls and 1 came out very fast, and I was quite pleased with it, it was very large. When my other 2 rolls came out, they too were very large. Overall, my 3 rolls were very yummy (maybe too much sauce but I've seen worse). I would HAPPILY go back to this place any time for their special. So first off I am in no way a sushi connoisseur but to me this was pretty great quality sushi. The rice was light (which I don't know is good or bad but hey I liked it lol) the shrimp tasted fresh and along with the food the customer service was solid I went in around 1230 and got my food by 1240 so that's pretty fast for me. The only reason I did not give it the coveted fifth star was due to the ambiance, it's not the most beautiful place I eaten at but it's solid. I enjoy the food here whether it be the sushi or the other types of food they offer. Although it's not the best sushi I've had, it's the best that I've found in Yuma. The prices are also decent in comparison to the others. The have ample parking and are conveniently located right off of the 8 both east and west. Was very hesitant to try as we just arrived from Okinawa a year ago, but kids kept pestering because they miss Japanese food. My family and I came in for happy hour. The last time we were here was quite a long time ago and we were excited to be back in Yuma visiting so we could have ninja sushi! We were a little disappointed with the taste of the flaming dragon roll it seemed different than the last time we had it. Everything else was very good. At first I was really disappointed in this place. Stopped by for some lunch on my way to San Diego, and was excited to see this as an option to the ever-present diners in the area. Sat down at the sushi bar and looked over their menu, and asked about a few pieces of nigiri. Most of what I wanted, they were out of... which was annoying as hell but understandable. I doubt if there's a huge market for ikura, uni, and saba in Yuma. So I was annoyed and disappointed, but not TOO butthurt. I ended up just getting a few cuts of nigiri and their tempura udon, which was actually quite tasty. What they lacked in inventory, they made up for in service. Everyone was *REALLY* nice, and they were genuinely apologetic about not having what I asked for. I'll stop by here again next time I'm driving across the border, and I'm sure that I'll enjoy my meal again. One nice little touch was- when I was leaving, the itamae-san said: "Take care!
