Played here for my 60th Birthday and was NOT disappointed. The course is in great shape and the staff are great. The course is on the longer side and some challenges but it was relaxing and super fun. I will definitely want to play here again. They are having a backwards tournament in October that looks like fun. read more

It plays like a muni $40 course. Staff couldn't care less; and by that I mean there is no one at the bar or tables and when I asked if I could get service the blonde said, "Uhhh, I guess yes sure whatever works". Whatever works? There's a table with patrons, serve them. The course plays like my local course for kids to get practice. Nothing stood out to make it worth $125 for two. If you're thinking about this place or your normal muni just save your money and go to your muni. read more

Just call it quits. My assumption here is that the owner is letting a family member live and try to make it. Everything points to that. I could be wrong but they don't know much about the hotel business and it shows. The guy at the Pro Shop was great. Our rooms that they tried to put us in was a mixture of my mom, aunt, uncle, or someone gave me this job and I don't give a shit. Congregational caucus on the 2nd floor that I assume the family is living has a significant amount of dope rolling. The entry way was filled with dust and small debris. Obviously a vacuum hasn't hit the carpet in some time. To our surprise both rooms were either filled with shit stains and the second room had fresh menses blood. Yes, besides the hair and urine stains it was not a welcoming picture. My advice to the owner. You need to let it go into default. You're definitely not going to get your investment back. read more

The owner is racist - please avoid coming here if you are a person of color. My husband and his friends went there & they were racially profiled because of the way they look and were accused of damaging a golf cart when the cart was already damaged. Even though other people on the course stated they did nothing wrong, the owner proceeded to pursue them due to the way the look and their age. read more

Have been here for dinners in the past. Company party's and such. I can say this place is a dump. Old, dirty, out dated, mildew smell through. Please save yourself the nightmare and hold your event elsewhere. The food is not hot, not good, the water is gross and the staff and bar tenders have no idea what their doing. I would give the golf course some credit it's not bad for a cheap round. I was invited to an event in the winter months and they didn't even plow the park lot all they way. (most parking is acrost the street as well) Nothing like ending the night off pushing cars out of the snow covered parking lot :( Within a week of submitting this review I was contacted by the owner several times (5 messages I think) inviting me to visit the facility as they state many updates have been made sence I last visited. The last message states that my review is not revenant as she thinks I am reviewing an event more than 10 years ago. (It would appear they do not keep good records as she can't find the records of an winter event in any recent history) messages that started as welcome invites has turned to negitive threat like indevendows to publicly dispute my review. I encourage the business proprietor to execute the opertunitys provided by yelp. Disclaimer: I did not stay in the hotel or spend the night. I have no idea what kind of accommodations or quality the rooms offer. My review is only of my experance with the banquet section, and the golf course I have played rounds their. Just attended a friend's wedding here. The reception hall was great! Dance floor on the opposite side from the bar worked wonderfully. Good view out of the windows and staff were efficient and quick. Good time! I also stayed at the hotel next to the hall, it's an older building but being brought up to date. Room was big, clean and the beds were comfortable. I have stayed at many hotels and this one probably was the cleanest I've seen, not one spot on the carpet, even in the hall. If you are having a wedding or other large event I definitely would recommend this venue and hotel. read more

There is nothing "resort" like about this place! I have attended a few weddings here but this past weekend really sent me over the edge. First of all, I find it extremely fishy that most of the better reviews of this place were posted on the same day... Fakes? The whole place is outdated from fake flowers and hideous vertical blinds to the disgusting tap water. Phyllis (the general manager?) is rude and anal about the stupidest things! She yells at everyone no matter who they are and is so unprofessional. (Coming from someone who has worked at an actual resort front desk) They have 1 thing going for them (the back yard/gazebo) and they hide it from view in the hall with those blinds! There is a nice size bridal room for getting ready in but she won't allow anyone to put their makeup on in it! We had to use the bathroom for hair and makeup so the room is basically just a closet. Stupid. I didn't stay overnight because I've heard horror stories about the filth and prices. I've stayed at Super 8's for less money and better accommodations! The food was fine, not horrible and not great. Our server, Sue was a sweetheart. In my opinion, the owner needs to hire a real General Manager with actual skills and experience and get the priorities straight. read more

I've been here four times and every time was worse than the previous visit. They don't know how to reserve a room, they don't know how to clean a room and they have no idea how to maintain a hotel or a golf club. Did you know there are places in America were the water is non-potable? This is one of them. It smells like someone farted out the hotel room sink. To top it off, someone was either murdered on the mattress or they gave birth judging from the stains. If the latter, the child's life will forever be cursed been born into this shanty of a hotel. I have an image burned into my head of the hallway leading to one of the exits (for which I should have been sprinting) filled with black flies and misquotes. No doubt they had made there way through the many holes in the soon to be condemned structure. Avoid at all costs. I would rather sleep at the bottom of the scum covered pond on the hotel grounds than sleep in that hotel again. read more

Came here for a wedding October 2017. We were told at arrival/check-in that the facilities are undergoing renovations -- which are much needed. The wedding had a buffet dinner and I would have to say the food was very good. Not your typical small chicken breast and sides you get at banquet halls. The bartender was a little unprofessional for a wedding environment but she made good drinks and remembered our orders with each visit. Overall, the facility was nice. The majority of the staff we interacted with was pleasant and willing to help anytime there was a request. As of right now I wouldn't recommend the hotel rooms to anyone unless it was an absolute necessity. The rooms are very outdated and somewhat frightening. After they do some renovations this golf course and resort could be beautiful. read more

So, fine. Maybe the golf and hotel sucks. All the reviews seem to say so. I came for the Friday fish fry at the bar and grill. Wow. Impressed after such horrible ratings for everything else. I had the all you can eat haddock. Half fried, half baked. Even the coleslaw was tasty. I didn't need another serving after the first. I'll be back to try the other dishes. Nippersink has brand new ownership, a family who is committing to restoring the Resort to what it once was. It is like the sun just rose. The hotel rooms were all new, everything was freshly painted, and there are plans to renovate the lakefront and beach. Some of the cabins will be redone completely.The Tombeau Room also will be renovated for shows. The golf course last season was in perfect shape. They plan to put in a swimming pool. And of course, the location is great for a getaway. If you live in Chicago or Milwaukee it's an only and hour away, and you feel like you're on vacation. Make sure you meet the owners, they are great! read more

This place was so gross! First off this place is horrible about reservations. I called several times and asked them to hold a room for me since we were flying in for country thunder. They said everything was good and I didn't need a credit card to put on hold. I thought that was weird but was reassured I didn't need one and they took my name. Then we arrived and they said we have no rooms and there sold out! We flew across the country and their response was well we don't make those mistakes. Are you kidding me!!!!! After arguing for some time she agreed to give us a room. Once we got up to the room it was soo disgusting that I don't know how their still in business. Their was mold in the bathrooms, green stains on the carpet, the tv didn't work, and blood stains on the mattress. I took pictures of everything and went down to get a refund because the place was unacceptable for anyone's health. She didn't even question why we wanted a refund which I find very unsettling as well. Never going back! read more

If you like low-grade hotels that you'd debate taking a hooker to, look no further! My best friend had her wedding here, and I've never met staff that were so dysfunctional, disorganized, and rude! When we were setting up tables, we weren't allowed to move anything and we're threatened to pay a fee if we did. My boyfriend and his nephew opened a window and they got yelled at for that because "the shades were rattling." Even though it wasn't windy. They were also rushing us to start rehearsing the ceremony (some of the bridesmaids and groomsmen came early to help set up) even though we didn't have everybody in the wedding party. The next day started out fine. The location of the ceremony is beautiful, although they could've power washed the pavement. The reception went alright. The food wasn't very good in my opinion and their water was disgusting and smelled like sulfur. You'd think they'd have better water and food for how much money the hall was. The DJ was awesome and so was the photographer. But everybody had fun dancing to their wonderful stereo system and lazer lights. Then later on as the bride and groom are trying to get their "bridal suite" (that they had previously paid for) the woman tells them that the room was sold to an elderly couple, and then later on that the room was dirty and they didn't have the staff to clean the room. This obviously made the bride upset because they had PA ID for the room beforehand. We spoke to some of the people from the other wedding, and apparently the bridal suite is the exact same as the other rooms, but with a single bed. I rented a hotel room (not knowing of how horrible they are) and boy did I regret it. As soon as I walked into the room it felt like I time-traveled to 1984. The bedsheets looked old and outdated, the sink had cracks, and the toilet looked worn and sad. The water smelled like sulfur whenever I washed my hands. I decided I wouldn't take a shower in fear that I would smell like a fart after eating 10 tacos from Taco Bell. Most of the night I didn't even sleep under the covers in fear of getting bed bugs. I wouldn't even take a hooker to this place. Overpriced and disgusting. I wouldn't recommend getting married here or staying the night. Not worth it. read more

I've had previous experiences at this course where the manager/beverage cart driver is rude and unprofessional. Today, I considered it outright harrassment and would not recommend this course to anyone. As average, respectable golfers, not causing any problems, we were treated very poorly by the manager/beverage cart/ranger. Went to a wedding for a good friend of mine 7/2014. The food was okay, nothing to call home about. The decor in their lakefront room was outdated even though the space is open and has potential. These things alone wouldn't make me write a bad review but the service was HORRIBLE. There were 2-3 servers for a guest list of more than 100 and they couldn't keep up. They close the bar for dinner, which is very common but, had one pitcher of water for 8-9 people per table that was never refilled during dinner service. I had nothing to wash the dry chicken down with! Not enough rolls for all those at the table and don't ask for butter.. You might as well have asked for the servers right arm. There must of been an issue with the final count because a server announced to a gentleman at our table there wasn't enough entrees for everyone and he wouldn't be getting a plate. Who says that to a guest?! The wedding coordinator Phyllis was completely unprofessional to say the least. She was literally scolding people like children for anything and everything including the bride over decorations. The contract was not outlined with specifics and that was brought to her attention while she's snapping on the bride she said "I can't put all the details in the contract." Isn't that the point of a contract? The Dos and don'ts of what each party should follow? Phyllis was dressed in less than casual attire with jeans and sneakers on. I was completely appalled by her behavior and the service they gave the guests. I would NEVER have my own wedding there nor would I recommend them to anyone. For what you pay for their sh*t service you could go someplace else. read more

The landscape allowed for absolutely astonishing photos, the food was okay (i recommend the pasta!), the staff was BEYOND amazing; fun, helpful, made everything run smoothly. My husband and I got married this past November at Nippersink and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. We booked the venue nearly 2 years in advance and any time we had a question Phyllis was quick to answer and put my mind at ease. She definitely goes out of her way to help her brides get exactly what they want. I cannot tell you how many compliments we received on not only the beauty of the venue but also the amazing food! So many wedding venues have food that tastes the same...not Nippersink. We'd have taken left overs home if we could. The venue itself is beautiful with it's rustic essence. From the first walk through we loved the stonework. Nippersink is also one of the most reasonably priced venues out there. We would definitely recommend Nippersink to any couples looking to get married. read more

I would not recommend this place for a sit down dinner. We attended a wedding reception and the service was awful and very disorganized. It is apparent that the servers are not properly trained. The food was late , they didn't refresh the water at all and the chicken was extremely dry. I would not recommend this venue for a wedding reception, the only positive was the exterior beauty. Very apparant this place is about to go belly up. Visited this place recently for a wedding. Gazebo was pretty but the dock is falling apart and had yellow caution tape all across it. Pretty tacky for wedding pictures. The hotel is disgusting. IT IS FALLING APART. I cant believe the city hasnt condemmed! I would be so embarrassed to have my guests stay there. They are filthy and area motels are nicer. The owners obviously dont care about the place as they camt even afford paint to update the paint. The decor is circa 1990 and dirty. The swag on the ceiling in the reception hall was grey and was supposed to be white. Looks like it was left there from a wedding 15 years ago. They closed the bar for dinner without any warning and then gave one pitcher of water for each table of 8 guests. They only had a few servers which was not enough as the water was not refilled. Food was not good. The pasta salad was crusty like they made it 4 days ago. This place could be beautiful but its clear that they are either broke or dont give a ** about the place. Front desk staff was consistantly going in the back room with constant people checking in. People would have to wait minutes before anyone would come out. Overall, I would not recommend this place at all. Maybe to have the wedding in the gazebo and have reception somewhere else. read more

This golf course is very unprofessional, and obviously doesn't care to attract new customers nor offer any level of respect to long time patrons. My recent experience at nippersink was made so horrible by the managing staff that i will NOT return and will advise others to do the like. The drink cart/manager woman greeted our foursome (composed of 2 players new to the course and 2 returning players) with rudeness and irritability, then proceeded to harass us through the majority of our play. As an experienced golfer keeping with an acceptable pace of play (well within the parameters outlined by the course), our group was constantly interrupted and rushed along by the management. As gentlemen golfers, we would've gladly let faster players play through. It was a failure on the manager's part to approach us with professional courtesy and request that we let a trailing group play through. Instead, the manager crudely disrespected us by barking orders and then telling us to leave if we didn't speed up our already speedy play. How Nippersink's management handled this instance speaks volumes about their careless disregard of paying customers. I've never been so insulted or treated so poorly by a course manager that I will not return to this place. There are several other respectable, fairly priced courses in the area that welcome and accommodate players of all skill levels, and conduct business with dignity and class. This course is also poorly marked and badly up-kept. read more

First of all I would not call this a "resort" and the website is very misleading. This hotel room was filthy. The shower had all sorts of bugs in it and was so moldy we did not shower once and went elsewhere to shower. This hotel room is the sort of hotel that makes you want to keep your shoes on all week. When we first got there we went to check in and the lady yelled at us for having 5 people and only paying for 4, when we called a week earlier to let them know we were adding an extra person. When we added that extra person the lady on the phone changed our quote for hotel because they do a head count per night. So when we went to check in we got yelled at then saw that we did pay additional money and said that the lady on the phone was wrong and it would be MORE money. Once given a quote for 5 people and they have it written down they can not go in and expect another 200 dollars. I was also appaled by how rude she addressed the situation, with no apology or anything. Then she hands us off fashioned keys that did not even work. The door to get into the hotel complex was broken all weekend and saw some peoples keys even broke. the hotel also had a very distinct moldy smell and I would definatly never stay here again. read more
