I am writing to suggest that Global Foods consider launching a dedicated website to showcase your unique inventory. State College has a large international community that often searches online for specific items such as halal meats, Turkish baklava, or imported cheeses before shopping. A website would make it much easier for us to: View your current stock of fresh specialty imports. Confirm store hours for the week. Help students and new residents find the only store of this kind in the area. For building the site, I recommend using platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce. Both are world-class for managing grocery inventory and are highly respected for their security and ease of use. (I specifically urge staying away from Wix due to the fact that it is Israeli). Your store provides a wonderful service to the community, and I believe a digital storefront would help even more people discover the great products you offer. I put four out of five stars because you guys don't have as many things as I would hope for an international market, but then again, it isn't a large one, so I understand inventory prioritization. One cool thing is they serve fresh kimbap on thursdays (I think), and I hear it's usually very limited quantities but I've had it before and can vouch that it's delicious! They sell their own made in-house kimchi too which looked good. They have Korean specific ingredients but also some other things that are more generally used in Asian cuisine. They're a little pricy but worth it if you need something quick! They still recommend masking (something I think it's maybe time for us to move on from...) but they don't require it, just know if you go in unmasked you may get some unpleasant looks. It would be such a shame if this legendary local treasure ever closed up for good. There is a restaurant, craft shop, and grocery/deli. I visited the latter two on my recent trip to central PA. You will still find the same types of products as before, but quantity and selection are reduced due to the size of the space. In particular, the meat case and bulk goods are a small proportion of their former glories. The good news is that the bakery still sells chocolate whoopie pies and apple moon pies--the only kinds that there should be. Weirdo versions such as peanut butter whoopie pies and peach moon pies are offered as well, but why bother when you can get the real thing. The craft store is a bit smaller than previously, but still stocks a great range of, um, crafts. Things like tea towels and trivets and table runners, Christmas tree ornaments, candle holders, various porch decorations, and all sorts of other knick-knacks. There are even some locally produced goods such as aromatic soy candles by Brick Arch and gorgeous-smelling soaps from Shade Mountain Naturals. It's important to buy local, especially in small towns. We happened to be there on "Black Friday" (such as it is in Big Valley), and the craft shop was sampling cookies and dips from the deli. And by "sampling" I mean that there were two large trays put out in just the time that I was there. Mmm, generous and delicious. My burger tasted more like stewed meat than seared beef, almost as if it had been sitting for a while. It was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our server was pleasant enough, but several sides, condiments, and modifiers were forgotten. Waters were never refilled, the table was not cleared, and a salad that had been misordered was not removed from the bill. I understand it was a busy night, but at around $40 per person for food at a burger place, I expected more consistency. The staff is SO incredibly welcoming and friendly, and always points us towards great dishes (shoutout to Kip, whenever he's my server I always just order whatever he recommends!). So far some of my favorites have been the espresso-crusted venison (winter 2025-26) and the ramp risotto (spring 2026). It's rare to find a place with so much passion for local ingredients and showcasing the season. This is the obvious spot for a celebration or to impress your out-of-town guests. The place is also gorgeous. It's cozy without being dark. The staff always welcomes you and checks in frequently. I also want to give a shoutout to the cocktails. Everything here is very well crafted and there's great variety. I also love the wines. The list is extensive, but you can't go wrong choosing a bottle from the seasonal highlights on the menu.
